AM24 - Assistant Manager for FMM24 (Android) 1.0.6

8 Screenshots

NOW FIXED SO SHORTLIST EXPORTS WORK WITH VERSION 15.2.0 OF FMM24 (WINTER VERSION)

This is a scouting app for FMM24 (Android), letting you:

  • See the CA, PA, hidden attributes, etc for any player.
  • Search for players by many parameters (CA, PA, Age, position, foot, name, club, some hidden attributes, etc).
  • Export the current view of players to a FMM shortlist so you can import them into your FMM shortlist.

NOTES

  • This will only work with FMM24, it will NOT work with FMM23 or FMM25 (when it comes).
  • It is only available for Android.
  • There are some very significant changes to where save files are stored in FMM24 which have a major impact on AM24, so please read the Changes In FMM24 section below (tldr: you must export your saves in FMM24 before AM24 can see them).
  • I am still working towards a complete rewrite and getting this onto Google Play and when I do so it will not be free.
  • I am releasing this here for free in the meantime because it will probably take significant time to complete the rewrite etc.
  • There are some known bugs such as languages and favourite clubs not working. These are unlikely to be fixed before the rewrite.
  • If you have used the In Game Editor (ie there is a yellow Edit button showing), AM24 will not be able to read the save file and it will not open.

Installation / Opening A Save File

  • You will need to allow APKs to be installed from sources other than Google Play.
  • When you open the APK file downloaded from this page, you will also be prompted to allow installation from this source.
  • When you open the app for the first time, you will have to press Find Save Folder to find the careers/saves folder.
  • Android will then prompt you for permission to access files, storage etc.
  • You then need to find the folder with the various Exported careers in it. Note: you must have exported your careers first, as discussed in the Changes in FMM24 section below.
  • Once you have found this folder, you will need to open the career folder with the exported save files (eg export_Newcastle).
  • Note: you will not actually see the save files in this view, it only shows folders.
  • Once the exported save folder has been opened, press the "Choose Folder" button in the top right.
  • It should then show you any save files in that folder (Save 1, Save 2, Save 3).
  • If these buttons are greyed out, then it did not find any save files in this folder - please press the Change Career Folder button and try again.

Note: To change saves within a career, choose the Open Folder icon, then choose the save you wish to open. To change careers, choose the Open Folder icon, then press Change Career Folder, find the folder you want and press Choose Folder in the top right.

Changes in FMM24

There were some major changes to the way that save files are stored in FMM24 and it limits what AM24 can do.

Save files are now saved in a hidden storage area that other apps, like AM24, cannot access. This means AM24 cannot directly access the save files. Instead you need to export them from FMM24. The first time you do this, FMM will ask you where to store these - this is the folder you need to find in the installations instructions above.

Unfortunately this means you cannot open the save file in AM24 directly, play on (and save) in FMM24, then use the refresh button in AM24 to see the latest data. You will need to export the career every time you want to get an updated view of the save file. Even more unfortunately the export process is very cumbersome. You need to:

  • Choose Save Game in FMM
  • Exit the save, back to the main FMM screen
  • Press Load Game
  • Select the career you want to export
  • Press Export
  • Give the export a name (yes every time) - it makes sense to use the same name each time so you can just refresh in AM24
  • Press Export
  • Press OK, then Cancel
  • Go to AM24 and press the refresh button

This needs to be done before using AM24 for the first time and again every time you want to see the latest save.

Exporting shortlists from AM24 and loading them into FMM is very messy. Please see the details in this comment below for an explanation.

Loading Save Files That Have Been Edited

Save files that have been edited with the In Game Editor will sometimes not load in AM24. This is due to the save file being reordered and AM24 being unable to find the Manager's last name, which is needed to load the file.

As a workaround, please create a text file called `lastname.txt` that contains just the Manager's surname and copy it into the same folder as the save file. For example if the Manager's surname was Cronin, you would create a file like this: lastname.txt

Note: This is just a temporary solution. I'll find a better solution when I rewrite the app (at the very minimum I will make it a setting rather than the needing a text file which is pretty lame!).

Overview

Here's an overview of the app from several years ago. It is mostly the same, except for the part about opening the saves, which has changed as mentioned above:

Spoiler

Also, here is a new video looking at how to export saves from FMM24 so you can access them in AM24 and how to import shortlists created by AM24 into FMM24:

Spoiler

Support, etc

The app shouldn't cause any problems, but it is an "use at your own risk" app.

If you find any problems with the app, feel free to post them below BUT a) I don't have much time to spend on this now and b) I had to downgrade my development environment to release the app and I need to update it again soon (and won't be able to make any changes after that). So... there may be little to no support this year.

There will only be an Android version in the short term. Longer term I'd like to be able to do an iOS version, or at least a web version if that's not possible, but don't hold your breath!

Have fun! :D

Though remember using this app is against the rules of the challenges here on Vibe if you're doing one of them.

What's New in Version 1.0.6

Released

  • v1.0.6: Fixed problem where shortlists folder path was wrong if the path to the games folder was underneath a higher level games folder (ie "Documents/Football Manager 2024 Mobile/games/Football Manager 2024 Mobile/games").
  • v1.0.5: Fixed problem where the contract section wasn't found if too many players were loaded (the contract section may still become detached later in the save).
  • v1.0.4: Fixed shortlist format changing in 15.2.0 of FMM (Winter update)
  • v1.0.4: Added folder name to header bar
  • v1.0.3: Trimmed all the zeros from the date/time in the game info string in the header bar
  • v1.0.3: Fixed shortlist creation so path works for everyone and includes the correct shortlist number in the string
  • v1.0.2: Added the game version in the right app drawer for troubleshooting
  • v1.0.2: Fixed issue in 15.1.2 of FMM, which changed the length of variable section in player record
  • v1.0.1: Changes to stop it breaking if contract section not loaded and to work (via lastname.txt file) when manager is not last person
  • v1.0.0: Initial release

This is amazing mate not properly messed with it but I've loaded up 3 different games all day 1 with the same leagues downloaded and love how the PA of youth players can change quite dramatically from save to save, gonna mess around with this but it looks excellent 💯👍

It would be a great feature if there was a player scoring thing like squirell_plays did for the PC.

I'm not familiar with that. Basically I haven't played the PC version for about 10 years... What's it do?

Automated way to calculate players attributes.

Ah right, thanks. I wouldn't hold your breath for that though. I've never really dug into that stuff and have a lot of other things I'd want to do before even thinking about that.

As it happens Scorpio_21 from Discord is working on a player rating thing that seems to be along those lines. I think it is spreadsheet based and he's planning to release it soon (I believe). But I assume you need to enter the values into that manually, it wouldn't be hooked up with the game or with AM. And it's for analysing an individual player, you wouldn't be able to search using that. But that's the closest thing I know of.

I downloaded the app and it's really fantastic, congratulations. just one question, many times in searches I see players who don't have a team on your App and "none" appears, these players are nowhere to be found in the game, I just can't find them, are they by any chance hidden players who can't be caught? I do not understand. thanks for the fantastic App!

Those are the academy players. Sometimes it's before they are assigned a club, but even when they are added to a club's academy, they still appear as free in AM. For some reason they don't have their club in the club code field, so they look like free agents to AM. There must be some other way the game ties them to the club and knows they are academy players, but I haven't worked that out yet, so unfortunately they just show as free in AM.

On the plus side, you can scout out your academy players this way (limit to 16 and 17 years olds in your nation then manually match the names up).  Anyway, I hope to sort this out at some point in the future.

What date are regens available to scout?

It just depends when the game adds them.

If they are from a nation that isn't loaded as a playable league, then they can come back anytime, but often in the first couple of months after the New Season button is clicked.

If they are from a nation with a playable league, then they will come through the academy system. I haven't fully worked out how that works, but it seems some players show up soon after the New Season event, but others don't show up until a couple of days before your players arrive at your club. I'm not even sure if every regen comes back this way, or just some which might end up at your club.

Hey @Scratch! First of all, I wanted to thank you for your dedication and for another wonderful work! Because of the cell phone's smart writing, I have my surname with a space at the end:  Do you know which character I should put in lastname.txt to represent a space?

Hmm... I actually remove all the spaces from the end of the last name value in case people put one in there by mistake!

I removed that part from this version for you: am24-v1.0.3-for-pAcOPT.apk

Give that a try and see if it works. I'm not sure how to fix it in the main version, it depends what's more common - people with spaces on the name or people who accidently put one in the file.

I'm about to upload v1.0.4 which should fix the shortlists being broken in 15.2.0 of FMM (the Winter version).

I can't test it with older versions of FMM now that I've updated, but it should still work for older versions too.

Note: Once you have updated FMM to the latest version, you will need to save again in FMM, export the save again and then reload the save in AM before the shortlist exports will work again

FYI @pAcOPT - it should work with your lastname.txt file too, I decided to leave the trim out.

Dear @Scratch Thanks for the update. I have updated my FMM (to 15.2.0) before I update your app. Before I update your app it still work (ie can open the save file, I don't use shortlist). however after I update your app it cannot open the save game (edit on). i try put last name.txt in the same folder still does not work. Please check at the soonest. Thanks

The app is working for me, so I will need a copy of your save file to investigate further (upload here or DM me).

Were you already using lastname.txt? The old version used to remove any spaces from the end of the line (ie after the name), but the new version doesn't do that anymore (as some people actually have spaces as part of their name). So the other thin you can try is to edit the lastname.txt and make sure the name is there exactly with no spaces before or after it.

Thanks.

Also, if you don't use shortlists, you could always use the older version if it was working for you: am24-v1.0.3.apk

@Scratch Just downloaded the new version and the TRANSFER LISTED STATUS and CONTRACT EXPIRY filters not working at all on a new Bournemouth save. Either inaccessible or results coming up as blank. Same with the previous version but on my older Wycombe save, all works fine......... any idea what's wrong?

That happens when the app can't find the contracts section of the save file. I don't have a very solid way to find that - what I'm currently doing works most of the time, but every so often it won't be able to find it. It's much more common for this problem to happen several seasons into a save.

There's not too much I can do about it, unfortunately. I am hoping to find a better way of finding that section at some point, but it won't be soon.

I'm not sure why it's happening for you on a new save. I started the a new Bournemouth save and it seems to be working for me. Which leagues did you load? Have you used the Editor at all? Maybe you could send me the save file either here or via DM and I'll see if I can work out the problem (most likely there won't be a simple solution, but I can take a look and see if I can find anything).

When I try to export shortlists, I get this message:

Screenshot_20240303_084837.thumb.jpg.86a8f21458fd65cb560b8c7de44ea600.jpg

I've downloaded your latest version...

Hmm, that means it can't find the shortlists folder, but I'm not sure why it wouldn't be able to if it can find the games folder (which it obviously has). I've tweaked the latest version so that error message in the screenshot will show the path it's trying to use:

am24-v1.0.4-for-gamkinnkristian.apk

Can you please install this version and try again and grab a screenshot of that? Thanks.

I think maybe the problem is that I reinstalled the game, and now it's trying find the shortlists within the shortlists? 😅

Edit: I fixed it by deleting the game and the files from the documents folder. When I reinstalled it the second time, it put the FMM24 files inside the FMM24 file. I don't know if that makes sense to you, but I deleted all the files I had and now it works with the shortlist 👌😊

Thanks, have sent you the save file via DM. Started another new Bournemouth save and same problem. No editor and 5 leagues loaded..... England, France, Germany, Spain, Italy.

Thanks, as I mentioned in the DM, I've fixed this now. The problem might still happen later in the save for some people, but this particular problem of it happening at the start should be fixed in v1.0.5 (just uploaded above).

Ahh... My code looks for that folder by taking the path for the save game folder and replacing "games" with "shortlists".

It looks like:

  • When you reinstalled the game, you chose "Documents/Football Manager 2024 Mobile/games/" as the folder to use, so it created "Football Manager 2024 Mobile/games" etc underneath that
  • The save files are going to "Documents/Football Manager 2024 Mobile/games/Football Manager 2024 Mobile/games"
  • Therefore AM is replacing both instances of "games" with "shortlists" and looking for "Documents/Football Manager 2024 Mobile/shortlists/Football Manager 2024 Mobile/shortlists"
  • But it should be looking for "Documents/Football Manager 2024 Mobile/games/Football Manager 2024 Mobile/shortlists"

I've just changed the way I create the shortlist path, so it should leave the first instance of "games" alone and only change the second one, which should create the path correctly. Uploading v1.0.6 as we speak! (it also has everything n 1.0.5 obviously).

Yeah, I deleted all the files, and reinstalled everything. It worked fine after I did that 😊👌 Thanks!
