Introduction
I would be extremely surprised if anyone knew that I am subscribed to Four Four Two, in which I get the monthly magazine that they produce. A few may have guessed the player on the front cover and the main interview of the 'December' edition. You would be correct if you said the man in the form of his life, Robert Lewandowski. Anyone who likes to keep up to date on the global football headlines, probably knows that the striker has had a fairly prolific first third of the season. He netted a whopping 5 goals for Bayern Munich against their rivals Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga. If you haven't heard about this, then will be even more amazed to hear that he managed these five goals in the space of 9 minutes, and that is no typo error! He also managed a hat-trick against Dynamo Zagreb in the champions league. FFT decided to interview the man. He had a long awaited time, getting to the top and his dad died at the age of 49, so he was forced to grow up quickly and deal with any situation and he also did a variety a sports such as gymnastics and judo. These events may have helped mould the Lewandowski we know today, but he had always had an eye for goal, which is now often what we associate him many a time with.
FTT's Opinion
As the article draws to its conclusion, it states that 'the word you hear most often when talks turn to Lewandowski: complete'. It goes on to say how he is: strong in the air, agile and reasonably fast, shields the ball well, good at linking up with teammates, a real goalscoring habit and plenty of skill and quality. Surely that is everything you want from 'complete' forward and not many will argue against that the player cannot do everything that complete forward should do.
The Idea
This gave me an idea, do his current FMH attributes do him justice and if not, will FMM 16 do any better?
Well my answer to the first question is not entirely.
The case maybe that his stats were given a fair while back, meaning that he could have improved and probably has since the his last attribute update. Even so, for me, his stats don't show the true complete forward that he is. So lets look at his stats at the start of the game....
Attribute Analysis
So we can see he is obviously a great striker, but is he a great complete forward or does he occupy another role better in the game. Using Dec's, 'Key Attributes for each role' guide which you can check out at http://community.fmhvibe.co.uk/forums/topic/23267-key-attributes-for-each-player-role/ , I can try and answer this. So the attributes needed to assess how good complete forward Lewandowski is are as followed:
Primary Attributes:
Shooting-18
Decisions-20
Movement-20
Secondary Attributes:
Drbbling-17
Aerial Ability-13
Technique-16
Teamwork-17
Pace-14
Strength-15
As you can see, he doesn't do badly as a complete forward. However, I am pretty sure they could have been a bit kinder on some elements. At the time he wasn't quite as good, because this guy seems to improve with every game. However, they have been a bit critical on a player who netted over 20 goals in the league, the previous season for Dortmund, gaining a few assists as well. I am in agreement with the attributes of his: decisions, dribbling, teamwork, technique and strength. Having said that, I think there could be some improvements. Firstly, what I am in most disagreement with is his aerial ability, which has been some what underestimated, for a relatively big guy that scores a fair few headers in a season. In my opinion, it should be nearer 15, possibly 16. Also, I think that his shooting could be notched up 1, especially because of Lewan's consistently great goal tallies. On the other hand, I think they have been kind on the movement, which in my opinion should be 18 or 19. Finally, Lewandowski is reasonably quick, so I would have liked to have seen a slightly higher pace attribute. These are though, are mainly picky points. From what I have studied, I have concluded that Lewandowski on the game, makes a better Advanced Forward due to his great stamina and movement on the game. Personally, I prefer him as a poacher, scoring a average over 1 goal per game, 2 thirds into the season in my Liverpool career. He is still a solid complete forward, but his true footballing attributes haven't quite been captured to make him the best complete forward on the game, like I think he should be.
FMM 2016, What to Expect
Many of us will be hoping that Lewandowski will be more a 'complete forward' in FMM 16; with a definite increase in his finishing and aerial ability. And because of his great start to the new campaign, I can't see why this won't happen!
