Help Offering coaching roles to players

Do you really have to buy (offer contract to) players if you want them as a staff member? Terry was without a club after the Bosman ruling and i had a coach that i sacked because he had no influence on any of my players so instead of placing an advert i tried to get terry to come as a coach but i had to offer him a contract to offer him a coaching role am i doing something wrong?

Would it not be much better to have a 4th option when you click 'make offer' so you can offer him a coaching role?

They should definitely look into that.

Well said, we should be able to offer free agents coaching roles without being forced to waste money and squad space on a washed up has been! Been annoying me since day one.

@Ashez Are there any players that are really good at coaching, and it'll be a sin not to offer them coaching roles? I'm doing quite fine with existing coaches.

Impossible to say, I did run some tests but every save was completely random with what attitude and area the player was. It's basically trail and error with every player, save to save by the looks of it which is a joke.
