Help Greyed out

Can greyed out players be good or are they always bad? And if they can be good how do you find a good one?

Like in real life they can be both but I believe to stop the game being too easy they are mostly bad.

Welll...at FMH 15, they could gave you pretty players for maybe like a dozen of try at second or reserves team...some even hit me at the future when playing against their current team...

 

As for FMM 16, has just try looking for them but not quite good as previous ones or even before (I remembered I got a monster by doing greyed ones..he was the highest valued player in the game).
