Sheik Al-Khelaifi's Mission
Returning the pride to the South American continent

It's June 2014. Brazil loses at home to Germany in World Cup semifinal 1-7. Shame. Germany goes on to beat Argentina in the final and claim the first European World Cup in American territory. It's the rock bottom for South American football. Some people are desolate, others are mad. But one man has the key to change it all, and he is intent on using it. He calls his men for a secret meeting.

Fast forward one year, and the plan is ready to be put into motion. Nasser Al-Khelaifi, Paris Saint-Germain's owner, presents it to his head coach, Laurent Blanc, who considers it an insanity and quits. Every other manager contacted by the Sheik dismisses his idea, saying it would never work. But one aspiring Brazilian manager, Gabriel Alves, learns of the story and decides to contact the PSG board. Sheik Al-Khelaifi sees it as the icing on the cake, as a starting South American manager taking over the world with a South American squad sounded just like the perfect fairytale. And so the challenge begins...

(This is my second attempt at the Pride of a Continent Challenge. I simply deleted the other career because I didn't like the way the team was going. Hopefully this time I will be able to get to the end of it!)

First Season

Transfer market activity:

(As it is required at the beginning of any Pride of a Continent Challenge, I had to get rid of every non-continent player in my squad. In other words...)

The Sheik's plan consisted of assembling a squad formed entirely of South American players. For that end, he had to sacrifice a number of stars in his team, and some of the other players didn't go along well with it... Anyway, these were the transfers:

Transfers out:

Plus some remanescents of the old PSG who didn't attract the attention of any other team and were put to train separately.

How did they go?

Well...

First they claimed the title of French Champions.

Then they went on to claim France itself.

Part of their noble mission had already been achieved. Still, they found some brave, even olympic resistance along the way...

They failed... miserably. (I still can't believe Cavani missed that one.)

Along the road we also found some heroes:

Next season on Sheik Al-Khelaifi's Mission:

The need for an improvement on both the starting XI and the backups was felt as PSG got knocked out on every single Cup. To counter this, Sheik Al-Khelaifi has injected a great amount of money into the team.

What is manager Gabriel Alves going to do with it? Will he be able to fulfill Sheik Al-Khelaifi's mission?

Don't forget to check it out soon.
