Tactics Striker Advice

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a tactic which is very inconsistant, so I thought I would ask for some help / explain what I am doing...  so the base tactic is:

GK

FB / CD / CD / FB

WM / BBM / BWM / WM

AP

?

So I tend to play balanced / through the middle / shorter passing, point being to keep compact, not give the ball away and higher possession...  then I change between offside trap and counter attack depending on whether I am favourite for the game or not.

But its inconsistent, i play the OME version of the game and was unbeaten in the championship after 12 games, then beaten 4 - 0 at Rotherham and went on a winless run of about 5 games, played as Hearts in Scottish premier and had a similar issue, and with with Real Betis.

So I think I need to change to direct passing which will help when I am wanting to play counter attack, but I cannot decide on what type of striker to have, I play currently with a Poacher as I dont have a huge amount of goal threat (although my AP scores plenty), I cannot see a DLF, DF or Treq working as they tend to bring people into play...  so what would your advice be, TM - AF?

Cheers

I think your tactic has fundamental problems deeper than the striker. You have no width at all. Play Wingers and a Target Man so you can get width and have that player up front. to receive the balls and hold up the ball for the APM and BBM.

OK I will try that, what about playing WBs instead of FBs would that give me better width, I like the idea of having WMs cutting in to provide more options?

Cheers

Hi Dec, what is your understanding of WM? Why did you say WM can not provide wide?

I think its because they don't actually push as forward as wingers... Consider them like a CM on the wing... You'll rearly find a CM in the box, he'll rather sit at the edge of the box to give your attacking players pass option and try long shots

I want to wide player to join play more ( I mean pass more). But in current EME,  even WM does not pass much in match.

What I want for a WM are:

1. Passing more, dribbling less.

2. Crossing early ( at corner of box)
