Background info for Catania FC

 

Calcio Catania is an Italian football club founded in 1908 and based in Catania, Sicily. They compete in Lega Pro, the third tier of the Italian football league system, and host home games at the Stadio Angelo Massimino.

The club has achieved moderate success in the top league, with the highest position ever reached by the club is eighth in Serie A, done four times: during the early 1960s and again in 2012–13. The furthest Catania have progressed in cup competitions is the final of the Coppa delle Alpi. Catania have a long-standing rivalry with fellow islanders Palermo, with whom they have contested the Derby di Sicilia since 1936.

Tarnished history repeats itself - After being relegated from Serie A after the 2013–14 season, Catania was again relegated to the Lega Pro and deducted nine points, after, during the 2014–15 season, head coach and owner Antonio Pulvirenti admitted to fixing five matches.

 

After a recommendation from Ash I have decided to attempt my Catania save again - No unlockables are in play and no sugar daddy will be used.

So I start off with a talent squad and a hefty budget of 240k which is good for a Serie C side. Fabian Monzon is by far my best player but a random £4m bid come in and I felt I needed to accept this in order to rejig my team for our title challenge. We start the game with a -10 points deduction too, so what a challenge the board have set me with the expectation that we must be promoted

Out-goings

I sold Monzon, Rosina and Bastrini as they were just squad players and the tactic  I would be using did not require wingers.

Tino Parisi - one to watch, loaned him out for game time but big expectations for this guy!

Ficara - young gk sent out on loan with potential to be no1 - unfortunately he didnt work out and was sold in later years.

Incomings

I brought in Carlos from Las Palmers to shore up my defence, I recalled a young lad who was at Roma on loan as his stats looked promising and my defence was lousy imo.

Rashaan Fernandes I got on loan from Feyenoord, saw him recommended from a previous save and at 16yrs old I took the gamble! Thanks fully they accepted and he was one of my fav players from the save!

Nicolo Barella, Boris Grozdic and Abdul Yabre join on loan to complete my squad.

First Update

Currently 9th in the league after 10 games, enjoying the save and trying to bed down the best tactic for my squad.

This was the situation in jan, up in the place I wanted to be but went on a poor run of form shortly after, can we sort it out?

Heres the screen shots for march and the season is coming to a finish, can I make it to at least the play offs??

I manage to go on a quality run of form with my team battling hard for the ultimate prize! 

We made it!!! Promoted and couldnt be happier!

A tough tough tough summer ahead in order to be ready for Serie B

I failed to s/s throughout my Serie B season and I apologise for that, got caught up trying to get promoted and neglected to document it. Heres what happened.

We won the league although I was disappointed with the number of goals we leaked at the back. My tactic was 4-1-2-3 and therefore we went for goals.

So we are now in Season 3 and made it to Serie A. 

So excited for the season to come. The board gave me 3.1m to spend and a massive wage budget of 289k.

Heres my incomings and boy oh boy we got a cracker!

Stumbled on this little gem and saw him transfer listed, I had little faith I could sign him but it appears tea and a mcflurry and do wonders for the boy! Welcome to Catania boyo! 

Couldnt believe my luck and the fact he banged in a goal a game in pre season I asked him to sign a 2 yr deal and he had already fallen in love with the club

Ins and outs for the new season ahead. Had to sign 2 new keepers as the promotion had negative effects to my two keepers who went from quality to poor over night...anyone else experienced this??

This guy was an absolute gem with a bit of intensive training, great signing for me and won an award for player of the month. 

Everyones signed Fabiano some time in FMM surely? Quality backup keeper!

Keeper was T/L so took a gamble his stats improved massively with some intensive training. Current no1 at the club.

Ex liverpool youngster released and picked up as a squad player. (Loaned out for the season to get some game time, considering changing tactics to play wingers next season).

Baffles me that this guy was on the scrap heap, no club and picked up for nothing. Couple of months Intensive training and him and tevez are lethal! Played as a poacher or advanced forward.

This is why I rate my two new strikers so highly! 

This is the youngster I mentioned on my first post, turning into a quality prospect. Just won an award too.

Currently how the season is looking -

Changes made in prep for the next season. A few squad players picked up same may be sold to bring in some much needed cash.

Hoping intensive training can make a difference with some of this youth.

So we finished 9th in our first season with the big boys. Massively chuffed with my result but disappointed with number of goals conceded its whats really let me down some games, that cheeky last minute goal out of no where. So im going to be playing a dif tactic this season and signed some players to support this. (Screen shots below)

On to the next season - Season 4 - (Season 2 of Serie A)

I signed some players on a free with every intention of just selling them on for pure profit to boost my bank balance. I do this with most saves in order to sign players who cost more money. 

 

Disappointed to sell Blackett but decided he had to go as he wasnt needed and 3m for a player I got for free was a good deal. 

Current tactic in use

Depending on who I play at AMR/AML depends on the roles I set. Found Tevez does better goal wise if he is T or AF instead of CF or Poacher

Vadala finds himself on the bench atm and a couple of my new signings were strikers so I find myself with alot of options. Richmond Boakye is deployed as a AMR/AML with role of IF and he has done well so far. 

Results so far -

3 games into the new season and theres a new lease of life about the club. Can we better our last years top ten finish with a top 6 finish? Potential for Champs League or is a big club going to swoop for our young talented English manager???

Thanks for commenting. I will do that. Do you use scout option or do you stat look at each swedish team for example?

I use the search club option,much easier than scouts and its actually faster,you can scour the above mentioned league and teams in a really short time than sending out a scout,who misses a lot of talent,for example lets say you send both your scouts to search Sweden,they won't care if the other has already scouted the player they are scouting,so your reports will be much less than you expected.

Search for zlats regen,he always turns into a beast.

Great job. Back to back promotions. I rarely do LLM in Italy. zero or negative bank balance makes it real difficult & players are not that good either. So I must say you have done a brilliant job.

About that scouting thing, i used to use the search options .If u search and sort all the south american players according to their age then u will know who are regens. scout all of them you will never ever miss a world class kid. search all the continents this way. though i myself dont do this as i am trying LLM now.

I have just signed a few argies and a swede coming jan. Im end of nov atm so will post updates shortly. Im 3rd in the league atm ?

Jan update -

Current position in league

Transfer window was fairly enjoyable didnt manage to sell all the players I wanted but brought these guys in.

3.5m find from S America

3.5m find from Swedish league

500k find from S America.

An absolute fav agreed fee for end of season, keepers been an issue for me this year. Cant wait one of my fav players on the game.

Brought the following in on frees for next season, most likely will just sell to increase transfer kitty.

Seasons going okay atm, aim is still to finish in top 6. Hope your enjoying my save.

As you can see I sold a fair few of my free signings and squad players to boost my transfer kitty to £25m plus. Not intending to use this but may if the right player pops up, scouting the world atm.
