Season 8

Aso we've become accustomed to the board expect European qualification again also this is to be Ronaldo's last season.

Outgoing Players

So this year I'm losing playmaker Bernard Mensah, promoted youth prospect Kenny However, long time first teamer Jon Gaztanaga, last year's fresh winger signing Luciano Slagveer and breakout young star Remi Sanogo. Could have been worse I suppose.

Screenshot_20160723-220947.thumb.png.a0e

Incoming Players

Here are the players brought in this year to bulk my squad back out, they're mostly just a bunch of good hands. Notably we have  brought Kazenga Lua Lua back to Newcastle and brought in Luis Muriel, a very decent striker.

Screenshot_20160725-234420.thumb.png.9d7

The Season

As the FA cup winners last year we have qualified to play the league winners in the "Community Shield" game. Our opponents were Manchester City.

Screenshot_20160723-232259.thumb.png.38c

We added to our trophy cabinet with a nice 3-1 win which I apparently failed to screenshot before starting the next season.

So with that over with we move onto the league campaign it's self. I am quite high on confidence this year and hope to at least make a challenge for the title. Will I be able to push the big boys again?

Screenshot_20160725-230726.thumb.png.c7b

Alas it was not to be. My team struggled in the first half of the season. Then the former continued to drop into February forcing me to rethink my entire tactic and first team selection, this worked to a degree pulling me up to 6th from 9/10th. A little disappointing but the bonus was I discovered a promising new tactic.

The league being a bust, let's have a look at our EURO cup campaign.

In the group stage I drew Rubin Kazan, IFK Goteborg and Jablonec. This is actually a decent group to be in.

Screenshot_20160725-231619.thumb.png.510

We top the group and move on in the competition. We smash the next couple of rounds easily and get to the quarter finals meeting our first really decent team in the competition so far, Villareal.

First leg.Screenshot_20160725-231553.thumb.png.144

A nice first leg away win with 2 away goals looks promising.

Second leg. Screenshot_20160725-231545.thumb.png.299

Another 2 goals at home seal the 4-1 aggregate win and send us to the semi-finals, our opponents? Borrussia Dortmund. Tough opposition.

First leg. Screenshot_20160725-231536.thumb.png.723

Ouch, we are soundly defeated in the away leg 2-0 making for a very difficult second leg.

Second leg. Screenshot_20160725-231527.thumb.png.310

We pull back 2 goals but it is to no avail as Dortmund put one past my keeper too. We go out on a 3-2 aggregate loss. There is no shame being beaten by Dortmund at all though.

With the failure in the league campaign and a only getting to the semis in Europe this year's silverware haul is looking a little smaller. That is unless we won another cup.........

Screenshot_20160725-230650.thumb.png.149

Of course we did, another FA cup winners to add to the cabinet and to get us into Europe again next year. Again I forgot the blooming screenshot. However, as proof, here is the season summary.Screenshot_20160726-171427.thumb.png.360

Now the only question remaining is how the individual players did this year.

Screenshot_20160725-231215.thumb.png.ffcScreenshot_20160725-231222.thumb.png.486

Again Willian hits over 30 goals and has double figures in the assists too. He was really the only consistent player all season. Most of Rescaldini's, Connolly's and Muriel's goals and assists came after the tactical shift in February along with Haidara's assists playing out of position on the right wing.

Very disappointed that Ronaldo couldn't do better in his last year but finishing the season at 38 I can't complain.

So there it is, season 8. More silverware, one place higher in the league and a new tactic to take on the big boys. Bring on next year, bring on the freebies!

Season 9

Last season we had a minor improvement in the league compared to the previous season. Again we are expected to qualify for Europe, again my personal aim is to win the Premier league.

Outgoing Players

This year we lose a guy who didn't play a single game for us in Dabney dos Santos Souza, former Manchester City man Ntcham, young stereo Jack Connolly, first teamer Sergey Dmitriev and long time squad man David Henen. Luckily there's no huge losses there but Connolly and Dmitriev were useful.

Screenshot_20160725-234605.thumb.png.cc8Also Cristiano Ronaldo finally said farewell to the footballing world.

Incoming Players

This year there seems to be a mass exodus of older talent from the big teams and I look to take advantage. I pick up England international Danny Welbeck, big Belgian Christian Benteke, Brazilian superstar Douglas Costa, France international and their star player at the Euros Antoine Griezmann, former Arsenal and Barcelona hitman Alexis  Sanchez and two ballon d'or winners Robert Lewandowski and the brilliant Lionel Messi.

Screenshot_20160726-212622.thumb.png.e16

Exciting developments for my squad regardless of age.

The Season

First things first we meet Chelsea for the Community Shield. Will we win it again this year?Screenshot_20160726-221158.thumb.png.1cf

The stats look fairly even but Chelsea smash us 4-2 with only a last minute goal making us look like we fought it a little.

Next up how did we perform in the league? Our form was improved, we were doing better than ever before with results like this

Screenshot_20160727-204936.thumb.png.bca

Could we keep it Up? Did my team of stars past their prime win us the league?

Screenshot_20160726-210610.thumb.png.c6d

Aaaargh, agonisingly close. What made it worse was how close we really came. On the final day of the season this is how the results went.

Screenshot_20160726-210532.thumb.png.fc3

I was top of the league twice on the 63rd minute and the 69th minute. Meanwhile Arsenal were struggling 0-0 against Charlton Athletic. I was hopeful watching the results as my match played out.

Screenshot_20160726-210512.thumb.png.bef

A kick in the proverbials right there, as I didn't even see the goal happen because my match finished first. I couldn't believe this goal robbed us of the title.

Still we qualified for the champions league again which is one better than the Europa League this year. Speaking of which, how did that campaign go?

Screenshot_20160726-210722.thumb.png.a43

We drew this relatively easy group and steamed right through it not only undefeated but winning all 6 games without even conceding one goal. Next round we draw Dnipro.

Screenshot_20160726-210805.thumb.png.aa9

Screenshot_20160726-210813.thumb.png.f66

We steamroller right over them 7-1 on aggregate. Next up Club Brugge.Screenshot_20160726-210825.thumb.png.652

Screenshot_20160726-210835.thumb.png.319

The steam roller keeps on rolling. 8-1 aggregate win and onto the quarter finals where the competition ramps up. We face Shalke 04 (Gelsenkirchen).

Screenshot_20160726-210847.thumb.png.f87

4-2 away defeat in the first leg. 2 away goals are the only consolation here. The second leg is at home though so fingers crossed.

Screenshot_20160726-210856.thumb.png.e8b

Yes, 4 goals at home seal the tie for us 6-4 on aggregate and we move on to the semis where we face French club Marseille

Screenshot_20160726-210903.thumb.png.cd9

Screenshot_20160726-210908.thumb.png.638

And apparently the steamroller didn't get damaged a 6-1 away victory in the first leg helped us to a 9-3 aggregate victory and onto the final against....

SPURS.

Not an easy proposition by any means. Tottenham are a good side. I am, however, confident we can overcome them.

Screenshot_20160726-211548.thumb.png.3ec

And we do.

Screenshot_20160726-211542.thumb.png.b1b

A good 5-2 win makes us Europa League champions! One more for the cabinet. On that topic there is one more piece of business too. Did we win anything else?

Screenshot_20160726-212355.thumb.png.81f

Unfortunately not. A narrow 2-1 loss their first goal coming courtesy of a free kick awarded for a red card worthy challenge from my young centre half. Then man city scored again to beat my 10 men to the  cup. We exited in the earlier stages of the capital one cup.

All in all this has been a great season, let's see how the players made this possible.

Screenshot_20160726-212450.thumb.png.786

Screenshot_20160726-212455.thumb.png.a1e

Welbeck is the real star player this year being involved in 56 goals, Griezmann was involved in 51, Messi 45 and Sanchez 39. Amazing season from the 4 veterans. Also a special mention for Francisco Geraldes who got ano amazing 28 assists this year too.

What a season. Really hope to push forward and eventually win the league next year. It's the last thing I truly wish to win in this challenge.

This will be my next challange? Looks like alot of fun?

It is a lot of fun mate. The best thing is no two challenges will be the same because different players will lose their squad places for bad form then get unhappy and run down their contract. There are also plenty of big teams who release their wonderkid after a few years.

Hi guys sorry for the lack of updates I've been incredibly busy and not able to play much. That said......

Season 10

Rightly the board again expect European qualification.

Outgoing Players

This year I am losing youngsters Greg McGlynn Leon Kirchoff and Stephen Smalley who along with Charles Mensah haven't really played a massive part for the team but I also lose first team defensive midfielder Branco van den Boomen who will be missed.

Screenshot_20160726-222423.thumb.png.535

All in all this really isn't too bad.

Incoming Players

Screenshot_20160801-231157.thumb.png.a54

Incoming are former top players Shaquiri and Hazard. Porto centre half Paulo Olivera along with some squad players and regens. Also Kevin de Bruyne is just missed off the top of this screenshot.

Roy Janssen appears to be a high level Dutch regen as my fans celebrate his arrival.

The Season

The year begins with a trip out to compete for the European super cup against Roma. The very team we beat back when we won the Champions league final. How did we do against the current champions of Europe?

Screenshot_20160727-074721.thumb.png.d84

A nice win and more silverware in this career is welcomed.

So following that success how did the league campaign go?

It began really well with good results and the new players settled in very well leaving us sitting here after 22 games.

Screenshot_20160728-231528.thumb.png.55c

Equal on points and goal difference with league leaders Chelsea. My team certainly like to fight for this, but could they keep it up and fight to the top?

After all 38 games, this is how the league table looked........

Screenshot_20160801-230957.thumb.png.36a

We went through a few poor results which allowed Chelsea to pull ahead with a 10 point gap and won the league. Second again, achieving champions league qualification. Aaaaaaand speaking of which.

We first drew a group with Anderlecht, Nantes and the mighty Barcelona.

Screenshot_20160801-231111.thumb.png.a72

Second in the group only losing out on first via goal difference. So, onto the first knockout round where we face Roma again.

First leg Screenshot_20160801-231056.thumb.png.21d

A nice 4-1 home win

Second leg Screenshot_20160801-231045.thumb.png.7bf

A nice 2-1 away victory and the reigning champions are swept out of the competition with a 6-2 aggregate scoreline.

Next round I am to face Spanish giants Real Madrid.

First legScreenshot_20160801-231027.thumb.png.90f

A 1-1 draw at home leaving a tense away leg ahead

Second leg Screenshot_20160801-231035.thumb.png.d2e

We are defeated narrowly 1-0 and drop out of the competition. It is never, however, shameful to lose to Real Madrid.

So we didn't win the league or champions league but could we do any better in the domestic cup competitions?

Spoiler

In short, no. We crashed out in the early rounds of both domestic cups.

So, a relatively successful season again this year, but how did the individual players perform?

Screenshot_20160801-231347.thumb.png.099

Screenshot_20160801-231351.thumb.png.6aa

New signing Roy Janssen proves why the fans got excited by his arrival netting 37 times this season while Xherdan Shaquiri hit 22 goals and 13 assists in his first season for us and Griezmann has a strong showing again with 16 goals and 16 assists this season.

So. There was season 10. It was pretty good so let's see how season 11 goes.

Season 11

This year the board have upped their expectations to success in all areas this season. Big things expected then.

Outgoing Players

This year I lose big scoring forward Roy Janssen, one of his strike partners Joakim Jonsson, young attacking midfielders Archie Warren (who was out on loan last year) and two of my better centre midfielders in Artur Alves and Anthony Huard.

Screenshot_20160801-232122.thumb.png.048

I also released some older players who at this point were just taking up squad space.

Incoming Players

This year I have againan aged to pick up some exciting free signings, fantastic midfielders Koke, Maher and Eriksen along with attackers Gőtze and Berahino

Screenshot_20160803-000047.thumb.png.fda

The Season

For the first time in what seems like forever the season begins with no type of champion vs champion match. So it is straight into the league campaign.

We began the league campaign with a relatively mixed bag of results

Screenshot_20160804-203157.thumb.png.188Screenshot_20160804-203534.thumb.png.ca1Screenshot_20160804-203708.thumb.png.0f2

This had us sitting here in the table.

Screenshot_20160804-203716.thumb.png.d74

Really not performing to the best we can this year. Let's hope this can be turned around and quickly.

How did we do then?

Screenshot_20160802-235733.thumb.png.b31

Oh no! The dream is over guys. I simply couldn't turn the former around and wound up losing my job because of it, this is also partly because of the boards lofty ambitions.

Screenshot_20160802-235755.thumb.png.d65

This is the league table upon my sacking, as you can see we were sat a disappointing 9th.

Anyway I am still very pleased with how this challenge attempt went and here are the career stats

Screenshot_20160802-235842.thumb.png.45c

9 trophys in just over 10 seasons I think is very respectable for the freebies. On top of that....

Screenshot_20160802-235825.thumb.png.752

....we won over 50% of our games and after being sacked my manager rank is 18th with 3177 points.  Not too shabby.

Well guys thanks for everyone who has read this, followed and commented with  words of encouragement. I have already begun another challenge, my first attempt at 1kc but with a little twist, and will get a post up in the next few days.
