Help Cheapest Tablet To Run FMM Effectively?

I'll bite and at least consider it so my question to SI staff is what is the cheapest tablet currently on the market that runs FMM 2017 smoothly and will last for the next few versions of the game, say up to at least 2020. I bought my iPod just to keep up with the series after the PSP and as I don't enjoy the game as much anymore it would take a lot to tempt me but I can at least ask what you would recommend. Basically buying a "console" to play a mobile game, what's the world coming to :P

My understanding is that having a speedy EME is important to you, and at the moment we're most happy with this on newer generation iPads if it's a tablet you're after. Out of interest, what do you use for a phone?

My phones awful so that's a no go, only use it for work really so it's old and beat up lol. Not interested in getting a new phone so it would be the tablet approach.

This is basically a no go then. Great.

Fair enough. There are obviously loads of tablets out there (including Android) that will be a lot faster than your current device so a few more ideas relating to budget would help.

Budget isn't an issue but would have to be tempting. I'm seriously basically on about getting a tablet purely to play FMM, I have no other need for one what so ever.

Will have a bit more of a think about this next few days but the cheap-but-powerful tablets market has fallen off a bit on Android as phablets have taken over. Possibly one of the newer kindle fire type devices - they are quite well specced for the money - but will have to refamiliarise myself with the range.

I'll show you a video of the EME on a newer iPad after release though and you'll see what I mean about the speed...

@Alari - I have an iPad 4th Gen (the one before the first iPad Air.  It seemed to struggle using the EME on FMM16, can I only assume then that this will be the case with FMM17 or have there been improvements to make it run quicker in the new version?

This is 4 years old now, we have put in a few performance improvements to the game generally but if it struggled badly with the EME last year I can't see there being a huge change.

I can whole heartedly recommend the iPad mini 2.  Not overexpensive and many good deals to be had. It held up for the last fmm I played ;-)

Realistically how often will we need to upgrade to keep up with FMM at this point?

We are going to try to keep FMM so that it supports the vast majority of devices out there as well as possible, but we can't predict this years in advance as there is really no way to tell what the market will do. My instinct is we won't do anything quite so performance-impacting as the EME in the immediate future, but there is a hell of the lot of under-the-hood tech stuff to work on to enable the game to move forward in the future and it's as yet unclear the performance cost of some of this.

Personally I think nowadays very few devices will last 5 years plus before the hardware fails to be honest and this is probably a reasonable target for us to aim at - but there will also be some budget devices out there that will never be good enough for the EME.

Sorry for stealing Ashez' thread but dont feel like spamming forums with new ones.

Should I be fine on Lenovo Vibe X2?

Is this what you're using for 16? We hope in particular to see an increase in processing speed when continuing on these multi core devices this year. The match may be slightly faster than 16 but not massively different.

I am currently using the samsung galaxy s5. I don't have any performance issues but would the game run noticeable faster on the galaxy s7?

The S7 looks pretty smooth to us.

I was wondering: is FMM subject to any limit of downloads per account?

As a tech journalist, quite a lot of mobile phones go through my hands and I think it would be interesting to compare these FMM-wise. For instance I've noticed a big difference between FMM 16 on a OnePlus 3 and the new Huawei Mate 9.

I'm able to do the test for a lot of different devices, to give people an insightful idea as to which phones would work well. But would that be possible without limit? Or would SI be able to reset the amount of downloads in any way?

On the phone i use my Samsung S6 no performance issues.

Tablet wise i would recommend the Kindle Fire HD runs fine and you can pick up a new one for like £100....mind you not sure if FMM17 is on the amazon store this year???

I can't confirm anything about this I'm afraid publicly - would need to handle it privately (I also don't know the answer off the top of my head!)

Well, when it comes out, I'll just start testing phones. If I bump into any problems, I'll be in touch :D

It will be but not today - maybe next week.

I have an original 1st Gen iPad and it runs FMM 16 OME engine quite nicely.

i also loaded it onto my wife's IPad Air 2 and that runs it with EME to a similar speed to my IPhone 6 Plus , so think this IPad will be the oldest you'd get away with running EME on.

@Ashez Maybe one of the SI guys can confirm if this is still the case, but I ran EME happily on an iPad Mini 2 a couple of years ago (currently £239 at Apple Store).

im using a Mini 4 now and it's very good, £379 at Apple.

@AshezProblem with budget tablets such as kindle's is that unfortunately are lacking powerful and would result in the EME not working very well or at all in my opinion

I would highly recommend this article as it is very helpful when choosing tablets and all of them should work well for the next few years...Mostly are reasonably priced as well since you are looking to get a good few years out of them

Cheers for the help, but clear to see I'm much better off leaving FMM behind. Nowhere near worth it, especially with the Nintendo Switch just around the corner :D.

Should be better than 2 years ago on that device IMO but we don't have it, we have a Mini 3 and a Mini 1.
