Help I'm wondering if this could be a bug

Okay, started a new game this morning as Celtic. Got frustrated quickly in the Irish leagues with the very limited wages and ability to find cheap players. So, I figured I would try a relaxing game with Celtic. Win a few trophies and try to bring the big one to Paradise. Not quite halfway through the first season and I was shocked to find that Leigh Griffiths has won World Player of the year. I've had players win it before but never in the first year that I've been playing. His stats are good but not that much better than I've had players play before. I wouldn't have thought Celtic's and the Scottish League's reputation would be high enough for him to win it that quickly.

8.89 is a crazy average rating that is probably breaking the calculation (it's got a league standard multiplier in it already). Mind letting us know how he played so well?

Yeah, I'm using my normal tactic which is the ashes/prize Brazilian tactic from their Pele rivaldo challenge. It's a great attacking style that you can use even with teams with limited skills. The only problem with using it at Celtic is I've got a few really good wing players who aren't playing at all.

Jordan Ayew won WPOTY after a fairly unspectacular/average season? This is only my second season, I'm currently top of the prem, and won League Cup and Championship last season.

What was Suarez' average rating, out of interest? 7.62 is quite high

Had the same thing happen in my very first season. Scored 7.5ish whereas Messi and Ronaldo got close to 7.8 but my 'unknown' player still won.

For examples like this we would need a save game from just before the award winner news item appeared. If anyone has any please let us know! (Send to help@sega.co.uk and say it's for Alari).

The average rating is immaterial for Ayew because the majority of 2017 was spent in the Championship.

Same here with Dzeko in the first season. He wasn't even scoring 1 in 1.

It's a bug , clear and as simple as that. I can't be the only one who gets annoyed with going round the houses defending the indefensible. 

Sometimes just a simple

'sorry, that's not right, we will get on that right away'

would go along way.

@Jack Joyce Suarez's stats were as follows. Not played/scored a massive amount, but worth £72m and a decent Avg Rating.

Sadly i don't have a save from before the award, but i'll keep an eye out for it next year. As Billy says, i feel it's not "penalised" Ayew enough for performing in the Championship.

At no point has anyone tried to defend it. Jack asked for a save, and Alari asked how the rating was so high, both of which which imply that we would like to look into it. Unfortunately, due to the complex nature of the game, it is difficult to simply look into things without a save to see why the logic is taking place like it is.

We have admitted to bugs many times on vibe in many different threads, including your own.

Any saves you can get in future with similar examples would be very useful, thanks (set autosaves in your preferences so if you see the news item you can just reload one and send that). Thanks for letting us know. It appears that you're right, the rating isn't getting penalised enough for being in a lower rep league but we'd need to check a save to be sure. It may be that because he's currently in the prem, the game thinks he played the whole season in the prem (I think this is likely).

At no point have we said there isn't a bug here, we're just asking for more information to see why the player is winning. Unfortunately we can't just look at a screenshot of a potential bug and instantly know why it's happening and how to immediately fix it with no information to go by. We need to track down the cause and a save is necessary for that.

I missed the post where you admit this is a bug. If you could quote it I would be most kind. 

I can then add your explanation in the bug thread.
