Help Primary Outlet

How does everyone use the "primary outlet" setting?  Do we know what it means exactly?  I typically designate my main (often DLP) midfielder...

I only use it when I have more than one playmaker and I don't know exactly what it does

After this function come to FMH/FMM, I have never used it.

I think it is useless.

Whenever I have used it I tend to find the player is less effective as all the play goes through them the opposition tend to mark him closer cutting out opportunities for the team

I started to use the CM (DLP) then switched to AMC (APM) then left it blank. Playing 10+ seasons and doesn't seem to make a significant difference in the end. At least not in a team where the players are nearly equal in quality.

My guess is it can make a difference if you have a stand out player (creative force) in a smaller team but would have to test that. Makes sense but can't guarantee.

If there is a stand out player in your team, he also will perform well even you do not set him to be primary outlet.

But the more often he gets the ball the better the team performs, right? Too lazy to test it tho I just go from a sensical point of view.

It definitely does make a difference IMO. I tend to use one of my IFs as my outlet, but a DLP as a second choice. I do tend to change it at half time if its not working and I find that can change things too.
