Help Dani Ceballos Or Lewis Cook?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm starting a new save with Man Utd and am using a 4-4-2 Attacking tactic with one BBM and another AP in midfield. I've sold Schweinsteiger, Fellaini and RM bought Schneiderlin from me. I have Pogba, Herrera and Carrick I need 1 more player to fill that void.

I've narrowed it down to Ceballos and Cook for now, so who would be a better option and why?

It's really hard to say without seeing what their current ability and potential ability star rating are (ie in the coach report). That will give a clue to how much these two players will develop. From memory they are both quite good, but it's probably worth checking.

On face value, I'd probably go for Ceballos as he's a step ahead in the important attributes for an advanced playmaker (like Passing, Creativity, Decisions and other things like Dribbling and Shooting).

Both had potential to be world class players when scouted them but I went for Cabellos in the end as there were not much quality BBM in the market. Pogba could play well in that role so I decided that I needed a better AP than Herrera to strenghten my midfiled.

Bonus: I downloaded FMScout afterwards and to and to my surprise, found out that he had a potential ability of 190 compared to Lewis Cook whose potential ability was only 152. Made the right choice in the end!

@Mohamed Huzair this comes a little late, but as for me without the usage of FM Scout, I realised that players with higher technique tend to develop much better. I have not run any tests to verify this but it's just something I look out for when I experience a head-to-head comparison just like this one. Of course, I could be wrong or I have been very fortunate with purchases/decisions but I just wanted to throw in my two cents' worth :)

That can be one point but I believe how good and how fast players develop depends on their potential ability and their determination which is a hidden attribute.

Without using FMScout, I feel trusting the AI is the next best step. What I did was I went to scouting agency tab and shortlisted all the senior and youth midfielders in the National and World player rankings. Then in my shortlist, I checked for those interested in coming to my club and Ceballos came out on top in terms or value. I believe the AI knows which players have the best hidden attributes and potential ability which reflect in their values. So I just trusted the AI and true enough, it didn't disappoint.

I haven't used Cook so can't comment on him. I have used Ceballos for about 7-8 seasons and he's fantastic. Very consistent. Mostly used in AMC spot with AP role. Great. Alternatively used in CM spot with DLP role. Good.

Why not both? Like seriously, Man U aren't short on funds.

I've personally used Lewis Cook, he's great. Bought him from Bournemouth when they got relegated. Played him for 2 seasons and made Arsenal pay 62m for him.

62M? Wow. Well, Carrick Is getting on with age. Maybe I should give Cook a try as well. Thanks!

@rseven

Nice one! Those innitial stats can really be deceiving. I usually stay clear from players with below 8 stamina but these youngster grow like crazy with proper training and gametime. Great ups!

Maybe the reason is I train players with high intensity on fitness, and my speciality of coach is fitness, too.

Very nice. I've got to check him out. Slightly out of topic but I love to see when these unknown players with low stats become beasts down the road. Reminds me of the time in old FM games before Steam where CR7 stats were mostly single digits and look where he is now.
