Chat Is Flat 4-4-2 Dead?

I played several careers with classic 4-4-2 formation and it can be very lethal if you set things right. However it's hard to find players who are accomplished in ML and MR positions, most of them are more suited for AML AMR positions. How many of you guys play this formation and what do you think of it? Do you think it's abandoned and forgotten in modern football of last 10-15 years? I would like to hear your opinion and experience with flat 4-4-2 if you have one. Thanks.

I play it with the Cameroonian national team and I won the African cup of nation. The only problem I have is that I don't have any natural CM

It's alive and well in the real world (and in the AI's buggy mind) however the game engine seems to favor more attacking setups. It's hard to justify playing two wingers when those players are likely to get you better results as APs or IFs in a 4222 (if their stats are similarly fit for both roles of course). 

I suppose you could play it in lower league teams where the players may not be as versatile. But look at all the tactics posted here in that last few months. All are extremely effective with 5+ players in attacking positions/roles.

I played a flat 4-4-2 on my Leicester save on FMM2016, and won the Premier League twice in 5 seasons so it works well if deployed correctly. I used a WM, a BBM, a DLP and a W across the midfield.

I don't think it's dead, it can definitely still be used & be successful for people, it just seems to me that other formations are more efficient on the game.

Well if you have good Target Man and Poacher up front then wingers are good thing to go with. At least for me. You gave me good idea, I'll try 4222 in my next save. It's funny but i never tried that formation in my 3 year's of playing FMM.

For me, it's only a solid Plan B if you can't get the ball closer to the box to create better shots/chances...
