Career 1k Goal Challenge

The Challenge

The challenge is to achieve 1k goals before the end of the player career.
I will do this in the Scottish Premier League as the team Celtic, because I'd love to see this great club on top of Europe, with the best striker in the world.

The player

One of the biggest talents the Eredivisie has to offer will be my main player for this challenge.
The Danish U21 starlet Kasper Dolberg is one of the most coveted players in the Dutch competition and is followed by clubs as Milan, Liverpool, Man United and AS Roma.

At 18 years old, the young superstar still has a bright future in front of him and can probably go for about 20 seasons.

 

With a CA of 3.5 and a PA of 4.5, he will be more than capable enough to get the 1k.

Season 1

Tactics

I´m mainly going to use my wide players to deliver crosses. I want the passing to be focussed on Dolberg.
At 1m87, 13 aerial and 10 strength he may be able to head a ball into the goal every once in a while.

How can he score the goals?

We can play a lot of games! We're currently in the Ladbrokes Premiership, the Scottish Cup and are still qualifying for the UEFA Champions League. If we qualify for CL, it has been nice to have had 4 extra qualification games

Pre-season

In the pre-season we played CL qualifiers against Crusaders (5-0 agg), Rosenborg (4-0 agg) and Olimpija ( 2-0 agg ).
We were drawn in group E with Sevilla, CSKA Moscow and Besiktas. A fairly challenging group. But at least we get to play 12 CL games this season ( 6 qualifiers and 6 group matches ). I hope that we can push through to the knockout.

Dolberg has been in tremendous form. If he keeps this up, he will most certainly reach 60+ goals over the season. Teammates Nir Bitton and Armstrong are also finding the net on a regular base.

In between the UCL Qualifiers, we also started up the Ladbrokes League and the Betfred Cup, so it was a busy pre-season. ( I was really stupid here I had Dembélé start in a friendly and haven put Dolberg back in the starting 11... )

The goals

The goals are starting to rack up, but I think he can score way more. For now he's a bit below par but I think that he can push towards 60 this season.

9 out of 10. Could be better.

Improvement

Kasper has already grown into a 5* player!

 

 

Rest of the season will be played tonight. As long as he won't get injured, we'll reach it

Nice! I like your choice of club, Celtic are definitely a good team to use for 1KC careers. I've never played Dolberg, but he does look pretty special. Looking forward to watching how you go!

The first 20 matches are really disappointing. We're losing too much games and we have many 0-0.

Dolberg only netting 13 in the first 20 games. This might not work out how I wanted it to.

Tweak your formation, it doesn't look great tbh but you gotta test things out yourself. CM role is in an odd spot, maybe swap with AP. LDs "hate" possession if you know what I mean. A Poacher doesn't want crosses from the flanks every single time, maybe tweak one of the wingers.. Keep trying things out. It's a marathon but hang in there.

That would help yes. And learn from other people's mistakes (if you read their careers) as well as your own. The 1KC is tough but you got a good club and player for it.

Also, turn on extended highlights and see what's happening. I used to have a similar tactic to that and when I looked in extended highlights, the central advanced midfielder was running around with the striker, like they were holding hands. They were scoring way too many goals that should have gone to the striker. That was an AP instead of a CM, so probably different for you, but maybe you will see something that you can change.

The other thing is that I found formations went off and stopped working after a while, so I needed to swap them out. That changed once my players got better, but I needed to do that for the first couple of years... 

And 13 from 20 isn't the end of the world - he will get better and better each season.

Decent enough start mate, can we see your transfers? Must have destroyed the squad to get that type of money which could explain your worries about the start.

I only had the incoming transfer of Dolberg. Now you said it, I was wondering how I did get that much money, only to realise I had sugar daddy on.
So, time to start anew I guess

Hate when that happens, unlucky mate. Thought it was odd you still had Dembele as I'd think he'd have to go to get anywhere near that type of money Dolberg cost.

Now you say it. It might be good to try and do this challenge with Dembéle as he doesn't require a transfer.
