Four games left and 8 goals to get

OH MAN Depay misses out on an opportunity and now has 8 goals to get and three games to get them

He leaves it very late in the next game but grabs a 5 minute hat trick all after the 90 minute mark

5 goals left 2 games to go

Depay you beauty 4 goals against Barcelona and he goes into the Champions league Final against Real Madrid tied for the record, but can he do it, can he grab just one more goal

Season 8

Hi guys sorry for the delay but had to take a FMM break (was seeing tactics in my sleep and that ain't good)

So onto our first full season at Valencia and Depay showed some great promise last season but 80 goals in the Spanish top flight is a huge ask, but we'll see what happens (bare with me a lot to go through and plenty of screen shots)

If you've read the previous posts know that it gets a little tight towards the end

So I decided to bring in some strength to the squad this year and managed to make some great buys

Transfers

Here's my wheeling and dealing this year

Some big buys here.  Oscar Hard (John Terry Regen) came in at a hefty price but was a solid rock in the defence, Coco, Gagliardi and Martens came in as excellent winger options all with good crossing, pace and stamina (Gagliardi also got a hatful of goals while playing the AM role) and Murcia was a great find for £1.5M a TM to assist Depay up front (a Colombian Regen with some amazing stats)

These 5 all played a huge part this year and were all free agents who must have signed at the end of last season

Almost all of you know this lad, he has bags of skill (and if not for the likes of Neuer at Bayern and De Stegen at Barcelona) could be the German #1

Another great find, this guy partnered Hard in the heart of the defense and with 19 strength and 19 ariel was lethal from corners

Another strong physical German Stenzel played at either RB or CM and with those physical stats was a force to be reckoned with 

There is a very strong German theme here, Gerhardt was my first choice CM playing the BWM role and he took no prisoners

And the last of the German Quartet I managed to get for nothing Arnold was instrumental in the teams (and more importantly Depays) success this year, playing mostly in the AM role but set as a CM he was the king of assists and managed to net himself a good amount of goals as well

I think if the season goes as planned might sell my German Quartet just to see how much profit I could make after grabbing all four for free

Here's the players I sold and a few big names here who just didn't play the way I liked

Balic was a constant pain in the butt who wanted more money, more game time etc but never played to his potential, Pulisic was another one who didn't really impress me last season so sold him for a nice profit, Ryan was a great GK, but no Leno so out he went, the rest just players who were never going to get game time

So with the squad now in very good shape we set off to conquer Spain and Europe

Here's how the team did in the League

A very solid performance from the team winning the league with 4 games to go...

and going the whole season undefeated coming up just shy of 100 goals 

 We also did fairly well in the cup competitions this season

We lost out on the European Supercup losing 2-1 to Bayern 

The Spanish Cup was a walk thanks to a great display from Depay (and this was a very important game as this was where Depay tied the record of 79 goals for the season

We also got to the Champions League Final but I'll show you that further down

 So a great season but the important thing was how did Depay do.

Well he started slow not scoring in his first 5 games but then we switched up the tactic to a 4411, here's the details

The importance of the tactic was pace, my wingers, CM, and PCR all had good pace to hit the opposition on the counter, then a solid midfield with a BBM and BWM to anchor the team

If this wasn't working by half time I'd switch to my attacking 442 (with two wingers instead of an IF/W combo)

So after switching to this tactic (and changing the AP to a CM and the AF to a PCR they really took off

Here's his form (minus a game or two)

A good run of form, he was a trooper suffering some serious bouts of fatigue but he soldiered on (I've left out the run at the end of the season for spoliers

So as you may or may not have seen from the post above here's a recap.

He had 64 goals needing 16 goals in 10 games, he then had a decent run scoring 1/2 a game, then with 4 games remaining he still needed 8 goals

It didn't start well missing an opportunity vs Barcelona, meaning he still needed 8 goals but only had three games to go

The next game almost gave me a heart attack as the game was looking like a 0-0 draw and the challenge would be all but over...

But that Depay is one hell of a practical joker grabbing a hat-trick in 5 minutes all scored after the 90 minute mark (my poor heart can't take this), so 2 games left and 5 goals still to get.  But our final two games are the Spanish Cup Final vs Barcelona and the Champions League Final vs Real Madrid so a big, BIG task 

But as the more observant of you have seen he grabs 4 goals against Barcelona in the Spanish Cup Final meaning he tied the record at 79 goals and sets up a very nervous UCL final where he needs only 1 goal, but would the wheels fall off the bus

So with one game left Depay has scored 79 goals tying the record set by Messi

A great return of 79 goals in 57 games, and I'm incredibly proud of the lad, but could he give me that one last goal in the biggest game of his and my careers

We went into this one with high hopes, we had beaten Real twice this season already and the way Depay was playing I thought he could grab a double hat-trick, but lets not get ahead of ourselves

The game was upon us and the teams lined up

Some of the Worlds top players line up for what promises to be a great cup final

Then the game plays out and it's a nervy affair, both teams start well but Real have much more of the possession, shots and chances but the ref blows for full time and the game ends 0-0 (and this time I honestly think my heart will explode) my team is tired, I make three subs but can't afford to sub Depay who's stamina is at like 69%.

So we head to extra time with a very very tired Depay, but then we hit them on the counter the balls played to Depay.........

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HE'S ONLY GONE AND BLOODY DONE IT LOOK AT THE SCENES HERE AND LOOK HOW MUCH IT MEANS TO HIS MANAGER

"THE SCENE HERE IS ONE OF CHAOS MEMPHIS DEPAY HAS BROKEN THE RECORD FOR MOST GOALS SCORED IN A SEASON"

"MANAGER HELLFOR LEATHER HAS NOW MANAGED TO BEAT THE GOAL SCORING RECORD IN 4 COUNTRIES WITH FOUR DIFFERENT PLAYERS"

And there it is folks 80 goals in a single season

So proud of this guy.

Here's Depay's stats at the end of the season

Still looking great at 30 year old, his dribbling and shooting stats are immense even if he lost a touch of his pace but what a player and very pleased to take this former FMM wonderkid to this kind of level.

He proved to the world that he is the man to beat

But this season all came down to teamwork, and the team gave their all to the cause

Depay obviously leading the way with the goals, but my AM pair Gagliardi and Arnold got in amongst the goals and Murcia got  afew when coming off the bench, My midfield chipping in as well

Arnold was king of the assists this year and apart from Depay, was the most important player out there having a hand in 41 goals this season, then Guerreiro playing as my LW also chipped in with 20 assists

A good season losing only 3 games in all competitions (all three against European opponents)

And I manage to grab a very rare MOTY award too

PS. What is with this trend of putting complete in titles? It completely killed the suspense and mystery of viewing the thread. I get putting failed as you could save someone some time but always roll my eyes at the complete title. Been waiting to see if he got the goal and I knew before I even entered the thread so just wondering why people do it? @AndersJ. I suppose I understand it as a sign of releif after a gruelling career but as a viewer/long time follower spoilers suck

I'd suggest the change not happening instantly but maybe the day after or something. No idea if it would bring in more views or not though.
