Help Weird XI'S When Going On Holiday

Anyone else experiencing very odd first XI's when you holiday a match? For example with Chelsea I bought N'Zonzi and Demarai Gray+Sadio Mane. But when I go on holiday over a long period, guys like Pasalic/Loftus-Cheek/Chalobah keep starting over N'Zonzi and Gray keeps starting over Mané even though Mane is clearly the better player at the moment. Also when I demote the 3 young CM's to test what happens then a CB keeps starting over N'Zonzi in CM, for example David Luiz. Why does this happen?

Nobody having these issues?

Nobody really holidays in this game as we prefer to play it instead...  But the AI is notorious for using suboptimal formations so that's not surprising.
