Help Preseason conditioning

 Share

Recommended Posts

How do you guys handle players who take a really long time to get back to 100% after the off-season? I had a couple players who were recovering condition % really slowly. I even tried giving them half a game in preseason to kind of kickstart them but it only delayed everything since it made them even more tired.

Took them 2-3 weeks into the season to get to 100% and become match fit.

I'll try to put them on the bench for the first league game and introduce them at the 60~ minute mark, then start them the second league game but then look to take them off depending on their condition.

If it's a large number of my preferred XI who aren't hitting the highest fitness levels then I'll play them regardless (however, I always switch out my entire team for the first few midweek cup games).

It lowers it, of course. I was just hoping it would kick them into in-season recovery mode where they bounce back in a week. But it doesn't. Seems like you gotta get them to 100% before they realize the season has started.

I never actually noticed this until a week or so ago. It's perfectly realistic tho gotta give FMM that. Unless it's half your team, but if it's 1 or 2 players it's quite normal and happens to many teams and players returning from their off-season holidays carrying a few extra pounds. Another thing could be players playing a long season and a major tournament in the summer on top of that. These players play possibly nearly 70 games a season in all competitions (league, cups, ITN, friendlies, major tournament..) so that could explain them being overtired/overplayed and need more time than others to recover. Not entirely sure if that's the case tho or if the game takes all of that into account but it would make sense.
