Career Taff Attempts The "Canis Lupus" Challenge

Taff

Hello FMM and I am not waiting to get back into things and with all three of @BatiGoals goal based challenges complete there is one more out there with a leaderboard my name is missing from

"Hi My Name is Taff and I'm a Leaderboard Addict"

So the last remaining one (until someone else puts one up) is from my good friend @AndersJ and the premise is the same as always, take a player and break the goals scoring record and this time I'm travelling to Australia, Poland and Turkey.

Here's a link to the OP

Now only one person has completed this challenge to my knowledge (after the creator @AndersJ got SACKED on his first attempt and then started again but has yet to finish)

So the one man standing in my way of the top of this leaderboard is @RipRip who had a staggering turn netting 172 goals across the three leagues, so thats a big number to aim for, so lets get started

Taff Attempts the "Canis Lupus" Challenge

Season 1

Australia

No we begin in the land of my dreaded rival @Real_Random, but it's thanks to him that I have decided on my team and player for season 1

Ladies and Gentlemen Taff Jones has become the new manager of

Brisbane Roar

Now my only dealings with the Australian league this year came in my attempt at the WWT (Wine World Tour) which was a fantastic challenge that myself and RR did earlier in the year, now being a native Wallaby RR had a bit more inside knowledge on the league than the rest of us, and this was the team he chose for the main reason that they had the leagues highest scorer in the squad, so I decided that seemed like a good place to start, so my chosen striker (at least for this year) is none other than...

IMG_3513.thumb.PNG.a60280c3a8422bb8667591dc5696d3f9.PNG

Jamie Maclaren, yeah you've probably never heard of him either, but if he's good enough for RR he'll do for me.

There wasn't much in the way of budget this year, so not much in the way of transfers

Spoiler

IMG_3526.thumb.PNG.4e12b2b526ff8742ef83452d228cc16a.PNG

Yango came in as an extra RW and Brady went on loan, "Hold the Front Page, breaking Transfer news"

So with my chosen team and chosen player we set off to beat (the frankly laughable) single season goal record of 23

When playing in OZ you start the season in their version of the FA Cup (the FAA Cup) so we slowly progressed with Maclaren netting a few goals along the way, and we made it to the Cup final (which is played pretty early in the season)

IMG_3514.thumb.PNG.1a87a4e7773238cefdecc93260a3dcc3.PNG

Sadly after a slobberknocker of a game we came out the wrong side of a 3-4 result

But the season moved on and Maclaren hit the magic 24th goal by the beginning of Feb

IMG_3515.thumb.PNG.93b38270c85ac482a6b7d42b898b1307.PNG

and he ended the season

IMG_3525.thumb.PNG.592aef8f3e736beeecfb3260a59a22de.PNG

With a very decent 39 in 38 games, but this is nowhere near good enough to trump Rip, and as with BG's UK challenge moving from Australia to Poland will take some time, so a few more seasons here to see if we can smash a few more goals in

Here's how the season went

Spoiler

IMG_3517.thumb.PNG.e8ea4e87cbae5c56c804a37b40255d8c.PNGIMG_3521.thumb.PNG.411c80a1c506273eabdf3a8e0f1fab8f.PNG

We won the Hyundai A-League quite convincingly, then moved on to the series finals and...

IMG_3523.thumb.PNG.2781e1733cbabb1029c1590991cfd77d.PNGIMG_3522.thumb.PNG.ddfd74caf7ca11cdbeb28122c36d16ee.PNG

Thanks to a brace from Maclaren we won the league again???? whatever Brisbane Roar are the undisputed champions of Australia

Sadly we didn't fair so well in the Asian Champions League

IMG_3524.thumb.PNG.a46ac9ccba31896e15bcd2ae808e73fa.PNG

We just couldn't seem to get our rhythm going here with a 2-2-2 record and it wasn't enough to see us through to the knockout rounds

A decent season winning the league, but would like to have done better in the Cup and the Champions league

Here's the Fixtures and Awards

A very mixed bag this year with a few bad spells, but we came good in the end

Season Awards

IMG_3518.thumb.PNG.1c65c8d47ffa2e37a28e4ebfd63daba7.PNG

Maclaren wins the HAL POTY

IMG_3519.thumb.PNG.c890a7dd547c231b097632580f21bad2.PNG

My other young striker Katebian wins the HAL YPOTY

IMG_3520.thumb.PNG.03c8ecf7267204416b8031afee3b9571.PNG

And I am named the HAL MOTY

So all in all a good first season, but need to improve if I want to challenge @RipRip at the top of that leaderboard

Season two may introduce a new striker as Maclaren is getting some interest of bigger clubs and If I can cash In I might, the squad could do with some fresh blood

So thanks for reading and I'll see you all in Season 2 (feels weird using numbers again)

Where's the mandatory holiday inbetween careers? Man, this doesn't even count as a coffee break! :)

Solid start mate! I'm sure you can get a better number in your second season. Knock em out, you addict!

Don't underestimate yourself dude, you have put a huge total up that is really going to be hard to beat

I'll make it as fair as I can, how long did you spend in each Nation and I'll try (depending on job availability) to match it

Great choice of player mate, Jamie Maclaren was the top scoring Aussie for the last two seasons and irl just got a move to Darmstadt in Bundesliga 2. Great start and KIU.

Sorry for the delay guys took a little FMM break to recharge but I'm back and ready to share 2 whole seasons with you

Taff Attempts the "Canis Lupus" Challenge

Season 2

Australia

So last season we did break the record with Maclaren but I thought we could do better (plus there was no sign of moving to Poland) so I cracked on with a second season in Oz

After managing to get £4M for Maclaren I needed a new striker to take on the task and unearthed a great little find from France

IMG_3609.thumb.PNG.4e3b94f90e63c7f363c202fb25ea88ff.PNG

Yohan Boli is in and ready to smash the goals in this season

Along with selling my previous striker and buying a new one, we also brought in (and sold) a few players to reinvigorate the squad

Spoiler

IMG_3627.thumb.PNG.82fe78b96d4f8701bc8a9b9b4e42e53f.PNG

Plenty of business this year.  Langil and Wolters came in for the Wings, Santana came in as a backup Striker, Warcholak as a new LB, Icaro as a new starting CB, Brennan and Clucas as good options for the CM and Akyuz became my new GK

IMG_3628.thumb.PNG.cc26c14ec701c96d102e57ef83e8305b.PNG

Managed to make a nice £9M profit on the sale of just 4 players with Maclaren, Oar, Holman and Katebian leaving the club

So with the new players in and ready we set off

Spoiler

FAA Cup

The team did very well this year starting strong in the FAA Cup, and carried that right through to the final

IMG_3613.thumb.PNG.4c683fb79b08dc36674ac4882701f13f.PNGIMG_3614.thumb.PNG.f106d8a2c9bac37ba12abcc644855e97.PNG

A brace from Boli clinches the FAA Cup for the Roar and we dominated the game from the off

Asian Champions League

IMG_3620.thumb.PNG.689b9ba41bd4ea07a954bc578a5e271a.PNG

We managed to top our group this year and get through the first knockout round beating Jiangsu 3-0 over two games at the very end of the season (the Asian Champions league runs over two seasons)

League

After clinching the league last year we were hoping to make it a double

IMG_3616.thumb.PNG.65833e46c1222d20abf42b1867a8af61.PNGIMG_3617.thumb.PNG.76ca7c57915197a4f2e6e934e5533e4e.PNG

We won the regular season without much fuss losing just 2 of the 27 games

IMG_3621.thumb.PNG.31607891cb74ae2ad4a8369ea3cb3f68.PNGIMG_3622.thumb.PNG.d32c63f28fe83d35b6fb1b4d028b63ba.PNG

We then went on to win the Grand Final and officially win the League

So a great season from the team, winning the league and FAA Cup and progressing nicely through the champions league second round

But this is all inconsequential, the big question is how did Boli do this year

IMG_3623.thumb.PNG.0add47d5c6fa4809d0d7e17c40040521.PNG

His stats still look impressive and his value has shot up to just over £4M, and his form looks good, but how many did he score

IMG_3624.thumb.PNG.026eb8b917a385e86442f9df99c238cb.PNG

BANG!!!! 51 goals in 40 games, a much better return from him and that is a decent enough amount for me so if the jobs come up I'll be looking to make my move next year

Here's the other bits for you

Spoiler

Fixtures

IMG_3629.thumb.PNG.7a0cb8ea94bee052f3c4a4bf5c7ac51b.PNGIMG_3630.thumb.PNG.5fe0241fc58da2bb9b1640a4f0362665.PNGIMG_3631.thumb.PNG.f527e10deff73a30bd10d5a2925e7b11.PNGIMG_3632.thumb.PNG.261aa0d86d190905791fe8d56d706acb.PNGIMG_3633.thumb.PNG.a3282f379ae949374c74e0ec1566c930.PNG

A very good season all around to be honest

Player Stats

IMG_3625.thumb.PNG.abaeb775bae6b6b1d8e84786f3e44703.PNGIMG_3626.thumb.PNG.68146536b84ba3c22e8937e751582bd1.PNG

Boli far and away the top striker and Azeez (playing in the AM role most of the season) the king of assists with 17 for the year

End of Season Awards

IMG_3618.thumb.PNG.39eded46f2b635f5d7d97eaf4429df27.PNG

Boli (as you'd expect) clinches the HAL POTY

IMG_3619.thumb.PNG.a42e7df44c9e78a44dcdf93a3b965b67.PNG

And somehow I come 2nd in the MOTY category (ce la vie)

So a great season and am defo ready to get that move to Poland now

See you all (in about 5 minutes with update 3)

Taff Attempts the "Canis Lupus" Challenge

Season 3

Australia

So after a cracking season last year, this years priority was to do well in the Champions league to boost my rep and then hopefully land a job in Poland

So here's how the team did in the Champions League

Spoiler

IMG_3642.thumb.PNG.ab5d166baf130e7461e216ff080fa82a.PNG

A cracking second leg sees us through to the semi finals after seeing of Guangzhou 4-1 on aggregate

IMG_3643.thumb.PNG.2d22045bb0e1d33675e1a7d820178bbc.PNG

This time the games are reversed with the first leg being a 3-1 thumping and then holding out a 1-0 win in the second game to see Brisbane Roar through to the Asian Champions League Final

IMG_3644.thumb.PNG.606af7adf5f465fb1439a6762569631e.PNG

Another 3-1 win at home sets up the second leg of the final as a close call and we go 2-0 down and are 4 minutes away from losing the Final on away goals when up pops Borrello and nets the winning goal in the 86th minute and.....

IMG_3645.thumb.PNG.62a2f0bbb933b88d59a4d6e5a40b7867.PNG

We are the Asian Champions "Can I get a Whoop Whoop"

So winning the ACL and this also places us in the CWC quarter finals

Spoiler

IMG_3646.thumb.PNG.348c5d293fb3f9557c60369756dddebd.PNG

We see off Al-Ahil thanks to a ET winner from that man Borrello again, to set up a semi final with none other than Real Madrid (GULP!!!!)

IMG_3647.thumb.PNG.3085e9871186fde3d68c16bc9e20373d.PNG

The team battle bravely, but it's not enough and we go down 0-1 to the mighty Real (but only 1 goal is still a huge achievement), we go on to face SEP in the Third place game

IMG_3648.thumb.PNG.b51a9f0aad695bb886e3370505ae984b.PNG

Which we surprisingly win and a Bronze medal for the hard working boys from Oz

So a ACL title and third place finish in the CWC, a cracking start to the season, and we weren't done there

IMG_3650.thumb.PNG.3e1f8cf11174f9199d06d18ae3f3ea91.PNGIMG_3649.thumb.PNG.76b18eafaddb0259bbe13972e8ee20f1.PNG

One of my star free agents Alvaro Negredo nets 2 and helps clinch the FAA Cup once again.

Now come the new year there was finally a job open in Poland, I had a quick check to make sure they were fully fitted and put in my application (which after 2 league titles, 2 FAA Cups and a ACL Cup) I was hoping my rep was enough to get taken on....

Season 3.5

Poland

IMG_3651.thumb.PNG.b2ad2bddab4e1d171d76fa6a5c312ad7.PNGIMG_3652.thumb.PNG.00cfea8520b95b3feb498d678b81d267.PNG

And I was, Taff Jones is now the proud manager of

download.png.58034f5708c6356e19d359b31b314a36.png

Jagiellonia

So we have half a season to measure up the squad before aiming to break the 37 goal record next season

The team were sat in 10th Place when I joined and a long way off Lech in the top spot

Spoiler

IMG_3656.thumb.PNG.de61e6d482594e475dc226ec64a6908e.PNGIMG_3655.thumb.PNG.e072c2a6240ae8b943814d1be2f30293.PNG

I decided to look into a new striker (the guys at the club were OK, but I felt I could do better), and after adjusting my budget I found one good looking striker, step forward

IMG_3657.thumb.PNG.af221b7b8a49130cd9cfd924119dabda.PNG

Ezequiel Rescaldani a steel of a striker for less than £1M, and I put him straight in at the top of a 4321 formation and let him lose to see what he could do (and if anyone is worried he's a regen)

Spoiler

IMG_3658.thumb.PNG.13c321f02dddcf28a8c773e8dcba425f.PNG

Here's his player history going back to the 10/11 season

So with my new striker in place we set to have my first go at the LOTTO Ekstraklasa

IMG_3660.thumb.PNG.afa125f0090f3fbd182fc29a8bb7af92.PNG

We ended the season in 7th place after playing 11 games in the league with record of 6W 3 D 2L, so not a bad start to our Polish career, but we also (just) made it through to the Polish Championship portion of the season where the top 8 teams play each other 1 more time to determine the final league standings

IMG_3663.thumb.PNG.0056602d212c3e8fc52fed4ac7026348.PNG

We managed to move up to 4th, out of the 7 games we played we managed a record of W3 D4 L0 so we didn't lose, but far too many draws

The team were also still in the Polish FA Cup with the team set for the semi finals

IMG_3659.thumb.PNG.002b63e83e8aa64cc0c026a6939b68ce.PNG

Which we crushed 6-3 over two legs coming back from 1-2 down to win the second game 5-1 with a hat-trick from Rescaldani

IMG_3662.thumb.PNG.d7aef338e615dbd481d3ce20d2846bc1.PNGIMG_3661.thumb.PNG.8f63850a4c0565e41bb0c38be6e16481.PNG

And we claim the FA Cup after an ET winner (a very very late ET winner)

So a good first half season moving from 10th to 4th in the league and winning the Polish FA Cup

Here's how my new striker Rescaldani get on this year, well he surprised the hell out of me thats for sure

IMG_3666.thumb.PNG.a6be8975bcbcf44d83e27e04ac9fa09e.PNG

Some nice improvement in his physical stats, and his form should give you a rough idea of how he's done

IMG_3667.thumb.PNG.77813db36e8fcde5a8fbcc009010d619.PNG

32 goals in 19 games (coming just 6 shy of the record) and that is a hell of a goal return for half a seasons work, If he does this in his first full season I'm laughing

Here's his form from all 19 games

IMG_3668.thumb.PNG.3fae4edbebbb7b14a0998053f6ec417d.PNG

Scoring in all but 2 games with 4 in one game, 4 hat-tricks and 4 braces this guy is pure class, and the league saw that

IMG_3672.thumb.PNG.5fab170ab77f48cbe97a2818ead4a692.PNG

Naming him player of the year after only half a season

Here's my transfer dealings

Spoiler

IMG_3664.thumb.PNG.3f8ae9ea13b46dfdacc3140e185b0c4a.PNG

Two new GK's along with my steal of a striker

IMG_3665.thumb.PNG.c03a99100150767643f5fed4afdb7745.PNG

One free agent let go (can't remember if I did it our he was already gone)

Here's the fixtures from all the games I managed (starting in Feb, they take a hell of a break between DEC and FEB)

Spoiler

IMG_3669.thumb.PNG.0cb9add9406cb298f31eda3650c36def.PNGIMG_3670.thumb.PNG.4fc8f364bea684a35613dce61ecc11b4.PNGIMG_3671.thumb.PNG.7f0108ce6cc7c5494941f2c4b52952f7.PNG

So a decent first season, really hoping My new star man can keep up this kind of form next year, if he does we could be looking at a 70 goal season

See you guys soon with update on season 4

Taff Attempts the "Canis Lupus" Challenge

Season 4

Poland

So after a truly staggering half season last year, could Rescaldani continue his form and smash the Polish single season record

First we put some time and money into adding some new players to the team

Spoiler

IMG_3691.thumb.PNG.a727e0808575f689c30a0d44791ad39f.PNG

So coming into the team are Abate, Diawara, Rondon and Shulz came in to give my CM a bit more depth (and option, the team has like 5 BWM) Volkov and Jean as 2 new Wing options, Martinez as a RB option and Hunter, well lets just ignore hunter as he got injured for 5 months after being with the club all of a day, so I let him go straight away

IMG_3692.thumb.PNG.3b846e9b0546c91f382b481a8a96b934.PNG

Just a couple of unhappy AM players going out who weren't getting used

So with the squad sorted we set off on our little Polish excursion

Spoiler

League

This time we made sure of a good season in the league

IMG_3682.thumb.PNG.8c5dfb65f40cc6ea58408693753bd8a3.PNG

We ended the regular season top of the pile with a decent 16 point gap

IMG_3685.thumb.PNG.d443e0d475baed2880e9d119c2f3da94.PNGIMG_3686.thumb.PNG.ef409c2cd1fd6c3058bbefad3c38b1e0.PNG

And we end the Top 8 section as champions of Poland with the same 16 point gap and a healthy GD

Cups

We began the season with the Polish Supercup against Lech

IMG_3674.thumb.PNG.de15230ffa49880588c717b82d48e7ee.PNGIMG_3673.thumb.PNG.0431e247260c52dbfede016d3718507e.PNG

And we walk away with the cup thanks to a 2-1 victory

We also made our way through the Polish FA Cup making our way to the Final to face Leiga

IMG_3684.thumb.PNG.abaebace981e37847d8c54b7b9dc628c.PNGIMG_3683.thumb.PNG.c9250f543db1e78e842b14e321ad6dbf.PNG

And a brace from Rescaldani sees us walk away with our second cup of the season thanks to another 2-1 win

We also progresses through to the group stages of the Euro Cup after winning two qualifying rounds

Spoiler

IMG_3675.thumb.PNG.fcf10b2450253efeedbaa4379950d5bb.PNGIMG_3676.thumb.PNG.263317689d12b3babea1b9b6b16a3590.PNG

And we also managed to squeeze our way through the group stage

IMG_3678.thumb.PNG.c7104eacee74c2e72ce4324e717967e6.PNG

coming 2nd behind PAOK and moving on to the knockout round

IMG_3680.thumb.PNG.929206388f90be70e261066ce15aba23.PNG

We squeeze past Gelsenkirchen thanks to a 3-0 win in the first leg

IMG_3681.thumb.PNG.8847c81dc8d7fec335d0ef9478e612c2.PNG

But we can't get past Dortmund after falling 3-1 behind in the opening game, but a good European run from the boys and it all counted towards extra games for Rescaldani to grab more goals

So how did the little Argentine do, well the record was broken before the start of the new year

Merry Christmas to me, he wasn't quite as prolific as last season but still knocking them in, and by the new year our boy looked like this

IMG_3689.thumb.PNG.2d02533d444077f996d126ab44bf07e5.PNG

Some good stats there, but what was his final tally

IMG_3690.thumb.PNG.8bd53a24a34db89936983636c4f3b9de.PNG

62 goals in 53 games, a cracking season for him and all the extra games meant more time to rest as well without affecting his form

So here's how we've done so far

Boli: 51

Rescaldani: 62

Total: 113

So a very good total so far, but need 60+ from my Striker in Turkey to worry @RipRip for the top of the leaderboard

Here's the boring bits

My main man sitting on top of both tables, meaning he was directly involved in 75 of the teams goals this season

End of Season Awards

Rescaldani walks away with his second Polish POTY

My lonee CM Shulz clinches the YPOTY

IMG_3703.thumb.PNG.507ac37df2f81a1bab254b54577de254.PNG

And I am named MOTY

So a very good season all around League and double cup winners, a fantastic 62 goals from Rescaldani and a good run in Europe, so hopefully onto Turkey next season to wrap this one up

See you all on the flip side

Very nice total. 60+ is probably as good as it gets in these leagues. Weaker opponents but so are the players. Rock Turkey and Rock @RipRip off his chair :)

Going well so far after my move to Turkey, maybe should have picked a slightly younger striker but there is always another season, just need to finish strong and hope for some cash to inject some quality upfront

Taff Attempts the "Canis Lupus" Challenge

Season 5

Poland/Turkey

So after a great year for the team and for my striker Rescaldani, it was time to move on, so we carried on with Jagiellonia until a suitable job in Turkey opened up (and we didn't have to wait long)

Spoiler

We squeeze past Legia in the Polish Supercup final thanks to us winning a terrible penalty shootout

Now as soon as the supercup was won a job became available at the 3rd placed Turkish team from last season

IMG_3738.thumb.PNG.12e4d9f917e4e5b9af8245eac23e8546.PNG

so I applied and....

I have made the final move of the challenge and now manage Konyaspor, and am looking to lead them and a chosen striker to victory. (I'm going to apologize in advance as I forgot to screenshot half the season)

So here is my chosen striker to attempt to not only beat the 39 goal record but SMASH IT!!!!

IMG_3740.thumb.PNG.d466767cd601c0ac6f7211fac56605b5.PNG

Jamie Vardy welcome to Turkey, OK so he's 33 but he was free and still capable of netting a few goals (I hoped)

Here's how the season panned out

Spoiler

League

IMG_3751.thumb.PNG.20331ea4e90e953f10380aa7813e6079.PNGIMG_3753.thumb.PNG.afcdc7720c746bec67805a88d63cb2f9.PNG

We win the league first time of asking (only by 7 points) but a win is a win is a win

IMG_3757.thumb.PNG.e0b7b30f2f9319f0022e08d2bb97d6e3.PNG

We lost out after reaching the final, this time the poor penalty shootout goes against us

We did have a decent run in Europe though, we began with two qualifying rounds

IMG_3741.thumb.PNG.6cfcbf6574250efa24b71be835adf8e6.PNG

We cruise past CSM Poli thanks to 6 goals from Vardy over the two legs

IMG_3745.thumb.PNG.bcd9aca1d556b9927174db19a1aa7256.PNG

We then squeeze past last years group mates PAOK

We then went on to win a group consisting of Dynamo Kiev, BMG and Panathinaikos

595e23c0da1a4_IMG_37461.thumb.PNG.2813728025393cdc3fd02836e49de5a9.PNG

So onto the knockout stages

IMG_3749.thumb.PNG.8b17800e4c57968be19555d7edeb7f51.PNG

We edge past Brondby thanks to a 4-2 win in the opening game

IMG_3750.thumb.PNG.aa9bcd3447d12d52bf9f4a6d3ed9d2b0.PNG

But just like last year we can't overcome our second round opponents and are knocked out by Napoli thanks to a single Isak goal in the return leg

So a decent first season, shame about missing out on the Turkish Cup but a league win in our opening season is nothing to be unhappy about

So how did Vardy do, well he did break the record, but it took him a while (he was very hit and miss till I changed to a 442 and set him as the TM, then he kicked back into gear,

IMG_3752.thumb.PNG.5d74f87ecc426449054c454ade0860fd.PNG

So not until May did he finally score the magic number 40, but 40 goals in 50 games for a 33 year old is pretty good going, but I need some fresh legs next year if I'm going to hit the numbers I need, here's his final tally

595e219bc7f10_IMG_37641.thumb.PNG.b8b2922f8ee76fca1e9b13d251c9ce2c.PNG

OK so he scored 1 more goal in the next 2 games but still good going

We did clean up in the end of season awards as well

Vardy named Turkish POTY, with one of my many excellent free agent signings Zuari (AM) in second place

IMG_3755.thumb.PNG.8638c2216fd64da655e69b79323d622d.PNG

One of my loanee signings Vidal clinches the YPOTY with the resident young striker Ibisevic coming in 2nd

IMG_3756.thumb.PNG.6c353afe69c70960898c612a7d34910d.PNG

And I'm named Turkish Super League MOTY as well

So a good first season, but need to get them numbers up, so another season in the offing for me

See you all soon

Slow down! Two updates in 6 hours :O:P

Congrats on finishing Poland off in style and the move to Turkey. Vardy did decently but I think you'll smash it next year! Good luck mate.
