TAFF OUT!!!!!

Is that what the fans are saying mate? ;)

Great season. his stats looks impressive, you've probably got a couple of 60 goal seasons coming up before he breaks through to 70, 80, 90! ?

Very unlucky mate 60 is on the horizon, still fantastic progress and your almost a quarter way there. KIU

Cheers RR, getting there slowly and the joy of picking a 16 year old is he gives you more time to get there, and hopefully plenty after the 1k mark

Havertz you say. Oh yes, retrain him and he'll make a fine striker too ;) I say no more.

He is a cracking CM and very prolific at scoring from the AM position

The fans in Eindhoven have been singing my name for 6 seasons now after making PSV true champions

Hope your right, he's been a bit more prolific this season so far, but have to hit that inevitable Winter dip in form yet so we'll see where he is by the end of the season

Nice unbeaten season there, pushing up in the 60's/70's in the next few season to boost that total up.

Cheers Danovic, I must say it's really nice to have you back dude

I'm struggling this year, decided to give him some help up front and he is banging in the goals but not as much as I'd like, but he's still only 22 and has at least 10 more years in him yet

Tell you what Taff, you sure aren't a stranger to goals are you?! Reading this is making me wish I didn't save over my private 1KC with the CC :@ Anyway, a fantastic return and I'm sure you'll be hitting big numbers next year. Let's hope he sticks to the script (y)

Big improvement from the lad there @Taff. He looks like some player now too! Keep it up.

Cheers @Mr.Manager, his stats say he should be knocking them in left right and centre but I just can't seem to get the best out of him at the moment

Too be honest it's getting really frustrating at the moment trying to get his numbers up, I have an update to post so you'll see what I mean.

Thomas Buitink and The Road to 1K

Season 7

So after his best season yet, could Buitink carry on this upward trend and secure more goals this year.  I decided that Buitinks major flaw was his aerial ability, so I decided to give him a TM partner, I already had a class TM in de Jong, but he's now 32 and getting towards the end of his playing career, so I decided to do some business in the transfer market to bring in some help

So as always lets start with the transfers this year

Spoiler

IMG_4837.thumb.PNG.d8b44dc7a274f8b83c77e4b0546bf025.PNG

3 new additions, Mckay came in as a good looking RW (with Zaha struggling) then da Silva came in as a backup to Buitink and Beauguel came in as another TM option

IMG_4838.thumb.PNG.02e19b521b25e120c70a228cef4f6e52.PNG

Just unwanted graduate players and some out of contract

So the team's in place and my attacking 442 as well, lets see if this could help him break the 60 mark

Spoiler

Domestic

IMG_4809.thumb.PNG.ae6d34af65661ffa74b92ff6c8184f4a.PNGIMG_4808.thumb.PNG.3536681449629abd9097aa70a6e47701.PNG

A good start with a brace from Buitink and a great 4-1 win over "The people's team" Feyenoord to win another Dutch Supercup

IMG_4819.thumb.PNG.e1df22771724eafe725d2a178c7fbf6c.PNGIMG_4820.thumb.PNG.eeab1b375a641ec210e02b2f20b07d13.PNG

Seriously what's with the 26 game benchmark, anyway we won the league for the 7th year in a row, having a near perfect season drawing one early game, and the defence and GK stepped it up again this year conceding only 7 goals in 26 games

IMG_4829.thumb.PNG.92612ea0ff11f742ee6f972ce6d4127f.PNG

We end the season with still only the 1 draw winning all other games and coming 2 points shy of a perfect season, but we banged 105 goals and conceded only 8 what a league campaign

IMG_4825.thumb.PNG.acafa0f17b4627892f9b6f2305f2f8a5.PNGIMG_4824.thumb.PNG.77e452829d420fc1348c33a9f3ebaeab.PNG

And we secure another domestic treble with a 4-0 win over PEC Zwolle in the Dutch Cup final, thanks to a hat-trick from Depay

Europe

We start our European campaign with the Euro Supercup game against German team Wolfsberg

IMG_4811.thumb.PNG.8383f0d3e47fdf2ef943de99bf483f8c.PNGIMG_4810.thumb.PNG.d578b1e18b781f97e50091393aa62443.PNG

Depay and Buitink combine to clinch a great 3-1 win and bring the Euro Supercup back to Eindhoven

Our UCL group was the best I've seen in a while, our opponents Man U (OK tricky) then Astra Giurgiu (?????) and SK Strum Graz (double ??????)

IMG_4816.thumb.PNG.be1027123890154746171eafcf52fdab.PNG

So as you'd expect we join United in going through, and thanks to one of these teams holding Man U to a draw, we progress as group winners.

We move on to the Knockout stages where our first opponents are Napoli

IMG_4821.thumb.PNG.96f7ea70f9def3c67662551a9a75004d.PNG

The first game is a tense affair that ends goalless, but the team turn up at home and we walk away 3-0 winners, and progress to face Chelsea

IMG_4822.thumb.PNG.3560ba23b201191d61a87707bd1f499a.PNG

We manage an excellent 2-0 win at home, but the Blues fought back at Stamford Bridge, but a goal from Buitink was enough to see us through 3-2 agg winners, and move on to the Semi Finals to face Juventus

IMG_4826.thumb.PNG.0d782cc9581cc36a910de3c304c80d14.PNG

We trounce Juve in the first leg 4-0, then look like another beating is on the cards but they fought back from 3-0 down to draw 3-3, but the damage was done and PSV head to the UCL final to Face Barcelona

IMG_4832.thumb.PNG.9fa1165a0751aa9d9c8259d3b1a518eb.PNGIMG_4831.thumb.PNG.e2bbc0403889f47c82a57945f004b767.PNG

An incredibly tight game that saw all 4 goals scored in the first half, then a missed penalty from Buitink could have cost us, but we held strong (in a terrible penalty shootout from both teams) to win the game and the UCL Cup

CWC

We also got to compete in the CWC once again and well, do you even need to ask

IMG_4818.thumb.PNG.f781fc19979b50034abc99e445f42016.PNGIMG_4817.thumb.PNG.06a68faf1b85cfc98f4999fb50230d92.PNG

A brace and a missed penalty from Buitink and one from Depay sees PSV claim the CWC

So a fantastic season winning all competitions but did this change in formation help Buitink or not

IMG_4833.thumb.PNG.54316106b1c0b2c9b7a2fad7d2cca918.PNG

His stats are as impressive as ever, but I fear his pace and strength are holding him back a bit

And he also missed over a month early in the season due to injury

IMG_4812.thumb.PNG.ebdc5c9d5e9fcb827840c10bbcf40460.PNG

And I missed out on the Holland Job, as I missed the sacking of the previous manager and they had already hired someone new by the time I realised (should have kept closer tabs on it)

His early form looked promising

Spoiler

IMG_4815.thumb.PNG.7fa6f5ba716158e6104528f4a8a5423b.PNG

He scored in 11 of his first 13 games having missed 7 with the injury

IMG_4834.thumb.PNG.63a9345aab9fd8a15b41c4a45207ad13.PNG

He ended the season 9 goals shy of last years target and 16 shy of the 60 I had hoped for, but he did put a smile on my face this year.

Spoiler

IMG_4813.thumb.PNG.3e044c07ccb9a638ef7aedf0c519be8f.PNG

His first game back after missing the previous 7 and it takes him less than 60 seconds to make his mark

Thomas Buitink

Games Played: 307

Goals Scored: 284

Goals Remaining: 716

So not awful, but he's 22 now and will turn 23 before the start of the next season so I'm really hoping next season he proves that he can get me that 1000 goals

Here's the rest of the season Info

And here are my two favourite results of the whole season, especially for @PriZe

Spoiler

IMG_4847.thumb.PNG.39451965ec930609b494ff9b3839622c.PNG

Thumping 5 past Ajax at home

IMG_4848.thumb.PNG.df8ee170fa5e1bfab2f8202ddb197772.PNG

Then heading there to do it all over again :P

Team Stats

IMG_4835.thumb.PNG.fce6fad24a5e8cac9890c15dde5ad222.PNG

Buitink led the way, but my IF Depay stole a lot of his thunder this year with only 3 less goals, but the team were phenomenal this year (especially when they netted 26 goals in the 7 games that Buitink missed)

IMG_4836.thumb.PNG.c7a615cef3077e8bd3ca3db55d736a43.PNG

Depay also laying on 17 assists meaning he was directly involved in 58 goals this year, Can also proving an assist machine with 15 from the CM position

Buitink claiming the YPOTY and POTY once again (I thought he was named WPOTY again, but I either dreamed it or forgot the screen shot)

IMG_4828.thumb.PNG.b71887bf521bf5fef43e28aeb39fb13b.PNG

And I'm named Dutch MOTY once again

So there it is another season down and still not hitting the numbers I'd like, but there is still plenty of time, so don't want to panic just yet

Cheers for all your comments and feedback guys it's always welcome

I'm off to start my first season of @mcandrew003s Premier Honour Challenge, so I'll be back with an update on that before I crack on with season 8 here

See you all soon and remember to route for me in the CC

starting to turn in less off a gentleman.....

whats up with 50ish as max for him to score? Is it the eredivisie? Looks like a really strong squad so you would think he would score more

Tell me about it, he always starts well, but by NOV he slows right down and he struggles, but I just haven't found that killer tactic for him, like I said I think his pace is letting him down a bit, but I don't think it's going to get any better, so I'll have to work around it

What role you playing him? Poacher?

This year he was a poacher, the season before that a mix of poacher/adf

Like I said he starts strong, but then goes down hill still netting but no where near as many as early season

But it also doesn't help that I'm a plug and play guy, no Idea what I'm looking at when I see the opposition and think If I change this it will counter that.  It's just we'll go with this formation and it will either work or not

Yeah FK, PEN primary attacker, maybe it's just the set up I'm using need more passes to him, but I'll keep trying

You could try an extra APM on the wing to get more passes in, all in all the EME isn't to kind for the strikers this year in my experience

I did use a formation with two APM on the flanks and it was the same story, doing well then flop

To be honest my CM is the tricky part, never sure what combo to use

Not too far off course yet mate, keep your chin up! What passing style are you playing? I guess with a slower player, you'd want to play it short more often than not.

I still have faith! In the few 1KCs I've done, they've all scored at about that rate, then taken off at about 24 years old or so. I think you're doing fine.

Also, they've all had that 'great start, slows down after a while' thing - I think that's just the way it is. I used to try to keep my strikers fresh by giving them a couple of weeks off when they got sluggish, but I've given up on that for the moment.

The only thing that worries me slightly is de Jong taking 22 goals off him while only providing 11 assists. I know it's not that straightforward, but I'd be a bit careful about that! ?

Edit: Forgot to say "Dang, bad luck with the international job!"

Thomas Buitink and the Road to 1K

Season 8

Hi guys and after a small break (thanks to my "Premier Honour" and "CC" duties) we're back with Buitink at PSV and hoping to improve on his goal tally to get us closer to that magic 1K mark

So after looking though a few other threads I had some ideas as how to improve my chances of getting Butink a few extra goals, but it required sacrificing a few of my star players to give my star striker better chances

Transfers

Spoiler

IMG_5033.thumb.PNG.76c8229db5432ec41242ddfe82fe0ba7.PNG

So Depay and Santos left us after serving the club well, but they didn't have the right stats for what was needed, same with McKay and Zaha, excellent W/IF all of them, but they were a bit too selfish, so I needed to change my W/IF to AP and bring in some players with better Teamwork stats

IMG_5032.thumb.PNG.838b95996b4589031ff714ef4a541012.PNG

Iwobi, Kerk and Amiri all fit that bill, along with Ramselaar who was already an integral part of the squad.  Werner came in as an excellent back up striker, Trent as a new RB, and Peeters as a new LB/CB option

So with the new players and altered tactic in place we set off once again into the breach

Competitions

Spoiler

Domestic

We began the season as always with the Dutch Supercup, and this year AZ were the team standing in our way

IMG_4999.thumb.PNG.c7f8dc3e8a595d084829dba45f7f1ab4.PNGIMG_4998.thumb.PNG.7bd3d6c287f45cf4968029aa9f7a4b86.PNG

A brace from Butink and an O.G. meant a great 3-0 win and the Supercup remains in Eindhoven

The League, well....

IMG_5018.thumb.PNG.6c2910de545c0608a78f02575658a7cc.PNGIMG_5019.thumb.PNG.17ba3901e14b7d0f0a86c61e90eeef0e.PNG

Was won with a huge 10 games to spare, drawing 1 game and winning all others and had only conceded 10 goals at this point and leaving AZ a whooping 31 points behind us

IMG_5027.thumb.PNG.eac452e846155f6ab72f3c0b3c3cf48f.PNG

In the end we won the remaining 10 games conceding only 1 goal in those games and ended the year with an almost perfect record, and widened the points gap to 46 points

IMG_5025.thumb.PNG.2a4cf8c3194b82edf5abe8e5b2c034b7.PNGIMG_5024.thumb.PNG.a64529c4882fc9e818d9a5713b950fc7.PNG

We also reclaim the Dutch Cup thanks to goals from both my Strikers, and it's another domestic treble winning season for PSV

Europe

Thanks to our UCL win last season we begin our European Journey with the Euro Supercup against last years Euro Cup winners Liverpool

IMG_5001.thumb.PNG.06108de86aac2bb2f9cf4c80153190b2.PNG

A fairly even match, but a single goal after half an hour was enough to give the Red Scousers the win

The group stage of the UCL this year saw us go up against Dortmund, Tottenham and Hapoel Be'er-Sheva (?????), so a pretty tough group, but the boys have beaten better, so I was quietly confident of our chances

 IMG_5003.thumb.PNG.eb77462e194f353feb65f384f0716270.PNG

And the team didn't let me down, one draw against the Germans and then all wins to see us top the group once again and progress to the knockout stages.  Up first, our Euro Supercup opponents Liverpool, could we avenge our Supercup defeat

IMG_5021.thumb.PNG.9b93ae48689d90603e79a29e30cb0b4f.PNG

We did, but not in a particularly convincing way, having to rely on a penalty shootout win after drawing both legs 1-1, but ce la vie and we move on to the Quarter Finals to face Barcelona (seriously come on)

IMG_5022.thumb.PNG.7ccdc28ff62adcfb190fcbada715732b.PNG

A fantastic 2-1 win at home, meant we had to be cautious going in to the Nou Camp, but we held strong seeing off wave after wave of attack, but we hold them to a goalless draw, and move on to the semi finals to face....OH MAN COME ON SERIOUSLY NOW, Reak Madrid

IMG_5026.thumb.PNG.616d81c6e5faa88141bab172e001261d.PNG

But once again the team surpassed themselves, edging a narrow 1-0 win at home, then holding the (other) Spanish Giants to a 1-1 draw away, and PSV have somehow got into the UCL final where we face Man City, could we ride this wave of good fortune all the way to the cup

IMG_5031.thumb.PNG.9f576b9c467099508f308827779895ae.PNGIMG_5030.thumb.PNG.766929de48293926a6caa3e9d9a81b06.PNG

Yes we could, dominating the game from the off, goals from Ramselaar and Buitink give us the win and PSV lift the UCL Cup once again

CWC

IMG_5007.thumb.PNG.b7d2f2e363589d6e389f7b8b71ea152b.PNGIMG_5006.thumb.PNG.7b34551112e1755cb64d01a27fd2ce48.PNG

We should have killed this game but a single goal from Buitink in the 90th minute was enough to give PSV the CWC

So an almost perfect season, winning everything except the Euro Supercup, but another Domestic Treble, another CWC and the UCL Cup is nothing to complain about

But now on to the important stuff, did this new change of tactic and new players help bring my man Buitink the extra goals I was hoping for, well here's his form from the first 20 games

Spoiler

IMG_5005.thumb.PNG.1783010c4b918d5d796d3c5754d616d8.PNG

Looking good, missed in only 2 games of the 18 he played and 2 braces and 2 hat-tricks in there as well and he hit 22 in 18 at this point

Here's his stats at the end of the year

IMG_5036.thumb.PNG.3eeecc327cac1d148486d55913dcc513.PNG

Looks mighty impressive, and still only about to turn 24, so really can't complain

Here's how the boy did

IMG_5037.thumb.PNG.d151df392ac58e4bddd88fb5e5a609af.PNG

Better much better than last year, 57 goals in 53 games, would still like to see him hit those 70 goal seasons, but that's just me being greedy

Thomas Buitink

Games Played: 360

Goals Scored: 341

Goals Remaining: 659

So another good season, but we're 8 seasons in and he's still 159 goals away from 500 and half way, so there is still a long road to go, but I'm confident if he can keep to this level and get better over the next couple of seasons when he hits his peak then I'll have nothing to worry about, but check back with me after another 4 seasons and see how confident I am then

Here's the rest of the season Info

An amazing season, losing just the one game and drawing 5, but plenty of greens to look at and thats OK with me

Team Stats

IMG_5034.thumb.PNG.cdb26b76b9dd0f825482844ac8926f16.PNG

Iwobi had a good first season with the club, but did steal some thunder from Buitink, but maybe that will get better, and Werner proved what a good player he is scoring 17 with limited starts or from the bench

IMG_5035.thumb.PNG.e3a328a59de91f98c1327c8a540a9676.PNG

My biggest surprise this year was Buitink topping the assist list, but I played him as a AF for parts of the season to try and stop the "tries first time shots" thing he has as a poacher, but it means he's setting people up rather than going himself, so another thing to address next season

Buitink claims his second WPOTY award

And he makes it 3 from 3 as he's named Dutch YPOTY/POTY as well

And I take my 8th consecutive MOTY award for good measure

So an improvement over last year, but still areas to work on

OK guys I still have some CC stuff to finish and another season in my "Premier Honours" to do, then I'll get back here with Season 9 of "Thomas Buitink and the Road to 1K"

Until then

"Later Haters" :P

Looking good mate! A few more goals would be better, but I still think he's got enough and he'll keep developing. Hopefully you'll get to around 70 next season. Hurry back to save mate, don't leave us hanging! ?
