Gulp! (Given that I'm at PSV as well)...

When I was at Celtic, I found that the clubs's reputation seemed to improve as we kept winning the Champions League etc and it was easier to attract players and keep them (and the players values where a lot higher than when we were smaller). But you've been winning the Champions League too, so it can't be that...

Have you been expanding the Stadium? Maybe that has something to do with it. With Celtic I got it up to about 100K.

Thomas Buitink and the Road to 1K

Season 13

So after another disappointing season, I've resigned myself to the fact that Buitink is not the striker I had hoped he'd be (considering his backup netted 12 in 5 games during an injury spell this year, so the tactic seems to work, not the striker)

I spent big this year bringing in a variety of players for different roles while I tried to solidify a tactic.  Itter as an IF/W, Mesic as a new CD, Chauvin and Franke to give me options in midfield, De Silva as a backup CD and Tielemans as a decent cheap LW option

Usual story going out, one unhappy player, the rest unwanted graduates and players out of contract

Domestic

Buitink starts the season off with a bang netting 3 in a convincing win over Feyenoord in the Dutch Supercup

A 13th consecutive league title and another undefeated season

And Buitink nets a brace to clinch the Dutch Cup and the Domestic Treble 

Europe

No Euro Supercup this year, so into the group stages we go

A tough group with Napoli and Man U, but we prevail and only a draw against United stops us from a clean sweep, so onto the Knockout round to face Saville

We lose the first round 1-2 but get a very important away goal, then a single goal from the ever impressive Havertz is all it takes to see us through to the quarterfinals to face Barcelona 

We manage to win both legs 2-1 and move on to the semifinals 4-2 on aggregate

next up AC Milan

The home game ends 0-0, but a late goal from my very cheep LW Tielemans seals the win and we are into the UCL final

This year we face PSG, and it's a daunting task

But the team rallies and we walk away 3-1 winners and UCL champions 

 

So as you've seen we both remained at PSV, with no options of moving, which means I have one more season to get Buitink and me a good move elsewhere

Here's how he did this year (spoilers not great)

Greens in most of the right areas, but his serious lack of Aerial and his pace being blue rather than green are the main reasons he's underperforming in my opinion, as I said earlier, while he had an injury my back up striker took over, his stats show green in only shooting, pace and stamina but they were enough for him to be netting 12 in 5, where as Buitink

Netted just 57 all season

He did miss about a month or so, but needs to have been doing much better at least for the last 3/4 seasons

Once again the majority of my assists coming from my LWB Hernandez, and I swear if you have the funds, you need to buy this kid, he's amazing

Buitink once again shines as he clinches the WPOTY, but Havertz finally getting some recognition as he comes runner-up

 

My new LW/IF Itter just misses out on the Dutch YPOTY

Buitink and Hernandez are once again the top two players in Holland

And I'm the best manager LOL eat itall other managers

So with one season to get the move, this next update could be the last, it would be a shame, but not every career can be a success

I'm surprised he isn't banging more in but maybe he has had his head turned. Considering how well you are doing in all competitions I'm surprised he want to leave.

Loving the enthusiasm dude, but I'm not too worried, if it falls through, working on something else at the moment as well so not all doom and gloom, but this is what happens when you trust the Dutch @BatiGoal @PriZe

Hmm, if he hadn't got injured, he would have hit 70 goals - not as high as you'd like, but not too bad either. If you keep going you will make the 1K mark. He'll play for another 10 seasons and needs 367, so that's 37 a season. He'll slow down at the end, but even if he only gets about 50 a season for the next 5 years, he's going to be make it eventually.

I've finally caught up! After seeing all your horror comments i wanted to make sure I could take it all in! The banter has been rather funny for you guys  

Now onto the save! I can see why you're disheartened as I think we all expected more from the striker. However how much of that due to him being a known wonderkid and not based on evidence? One reason I avoid known wonder kids is because I feel they bring with them higher expectations which lead to frustrating saves. 

Yes his scoring is lower than I'd expect but I also feel he's getting the job done. I have the faith in you here Taff! 

He's 28 now and will hopefully last until he's 35, that's 7 more seasons and he has 367 remaining. 

367 / 7 = 53 which you are hitting and beating reliably. You just need to hope he lasts on this form. Although he doesn't appear to have peaked yet so one or two massive seasons would change everything. 

367/60 = 6.1 seasons so if you can hit 60 you'll give yourself more breathing space. 

Mathematically it's on and I have the faith you'll cross this line! Best of luck mate!
