The Vikings Cometh

The Viking Chief Bjorn Karlssen has declared he will invade England and take it as his own. Upon a study of the available maps he has seen that the north east of England is an area where he can land with his army and quickly take the locals as slaves to sell and build a more powerful armed force.

He lands on the beaches of tynemouth and wastes no time at all in laying siege to Newcastle and taking it as his prize. He manages to gather £17.25m in gold and trinkets which along with slave sales (and trades) he will use to build his Viking force.

The Army

During his search for the best warriors available to him it becomes clear that Karlssen does not have enough sway or gold in his homeland to convince the greatest warriors such as Zlatan to join his invasion and therefore makes the decision to rely on battle hardened veterans and young warriors wishing to prove themselves. Here are the recruits and the slaves sold and trades to bring them in.

The King

With these troops on board Karlssen must pick a King, the elite of his forces who will lead by example on the battlefield.

He chooses Carlos Strandberg. A very young but strong frontline soldier with plenty of strength and stamina but deceptive speed too.

With this decision made Karlssen will now select a warlord

The Warlord

Karlssen selects Carlos Strandberg as warlord too. This man will lead the lines and claim many enemy heads (goals) and prove himself the most brutal warrior in the land.

I know that squad very well. I failed with Leeds and Middlesbrough. Leeds- couldn't gather enough Viking manpower so had to abandon ship, Boro- was betrayed by a little spy.

Invasion Year 1

Bjorn Karlssen, having taken Newcastle and formed his force for attacking enemy strongholds sets out to first destroy the second tier strongholds. He is confident he can take them in the first year with his forces led by Strandberg.

Skirmishes

Karlssen realises each year he will have to face resistant forces (cup draws) both large and small and will often have to decide between going all out for victory (win) and know when to retreat (lose).

The small town of Rotherham stood no chance.

Cardiff put up a brave fight but were ultimately defeated.

The great city of Leicester sent a strong army finally forcing Karlssen into retreat.

Colchester proved tougher than they looked but were narrowly defeated

Poor little Forest Green saw their forced slaughtered. No mercy for the weak.

The tough army of West Bromwich were beaten due to their own rear guard running away.

Karlssen took the fight to one of the toughest armies in the land but just as both sides were to call it quits and retreat mutually one of Karlssens toughest warriors accidentally felled himself and they were forced into retreat.

The War

Karlssen takes on the second level strongholds. A tough year, many battles were waged, many won, some losses. Did Karlssen take enough strongholds to be able to advance his attack on the most powerful enemies (BPL)?

Yes! He took it to the second tier strongholds and his army came out victorious.

King and Warlord

With the first year of invasion a success Karlssen will now asses his King and Warlord Carlos Strandberg. Did he do enough to please his commander and avoid being banished?

He lives up to his title as Warlord by taking 33 heads but did he prove himself to be the greatest warriors in the land and not just the most vicious?

Yes! He pleases Karlssen with his fantastic displays in battle. He will not be banished.

Let's see how the soldiers fared in general.

Karlssen has left a holding force in Newcastle as he goes home for the summer and hopes to persuade more warriors to join his cause for invasion year 2.........

Invasion Year 2

Bjorn Karlssen has returned from his homeland to Newcastle to wage war upon England once again. With him he has brought in a slew of new soldiers to help the cause.

The big news was  getting the services legendary Viking warrior Zlatan.

King and Warlord

Karlssen, excited with his new acquisitions, wasted no time in making Zlatan both King and Warlord.

Despite his age and seemingly decreased abilities Karlssen is happy with his choice as if the aging Zlatan performs well it will benefit the army greatly. If he has deteriorated and is unable to perform at his best any more then he will not be a great loss.

Let the attacks on the toughest strongholds begin!

Thank you very much. Strandberg is bound to be king again later as he is only 21.

I chose Newcastle as I'm from the toon. But a great option regardless. Henrickson is doing the business so far

Invasion Year 2

Bjorn Karlssen, has finally returned to England with his newly rebuilt forces and will attempt to smash the toughest of strongholds.

A small force were easily defeated thanks to the brave leadership of Zlatan.

A battle of narrow margins was won by the Viking horde.

A decent opposition were put down by Zlatan and his men.

The Great city of Manchester saw off the Vikings in a battle which seemed about to go the other way.

The people of Wolverhampton were turned away on the second attempt.

Stoke were defeated roundly by Karlssens men.

The Great army of Arsenal were defeated narrowly

It took a little longer than expected but the great united force of Manchester was finally defeated.

The people of Cardiff put up a great fight but were cut down in their masses at the end of the battle.

The Viking forces were eventually turned away by the well funded Chelsea army.

The War

This year Karlssen took on the toughest strongholds in the land. How many could he lead his army to destroying.

So Karlssen managed to take all but the 6 top strongholds. A very good attempt and he will be back to try again next year.

King and Warlord

The Great Zlatan was selected as both King and Warlord this year could he fulfil his duties?

Unfortunately, due to a series of injuries sustained in battle Zlatan could not prove himself with a great number of enemy heads.

Combined with his inability to prove himself the best warrior in the land means he is now banishes. No mercy for the weak!

After a good second year of invasion Bjorn Karlssen returns to his homeland in search of new recruits.

King and Warlord

Karlssen sat down with his top warriors ready to name his King and Warlord for the next year of invasion. Just as he was about to announce his decision there was an incredible bang from the far right of the hall. Up stood a tall figure of a man, he announced that regardless of his leader's decision he is the one who should be both King and Warlord; as he was the greatest warrior of his generation. This man? Lord Bendtner.

Karlssen had heard many tales of Lord Bendtner. This man had been said to have been the greatest warrior alive, a legend amongst men. However, Karlssen had also heard that most of this reputation was a product of Bendtner's  own boasting.

This being the case Karlssen agreed that Bendtner would be King and Warlord. However, if he is to fail in either of these roles, he will not be banished. He will suffer a much different fate. The blood eagle.

Only just read this - great start and very enjoyable read! Not 100% sure how I feel about Newcastle being pillaged, but as long as you get them winning I guess that's okay! ?

As long as Mike Ashley never, ever, reads this and thinks he can replace all the players with cheap viking players (you know he won't fund the more expensive ones!).
