Career Danovic hits the European Tour...

Recommended Posts

I thought I would try and post one final career on '17 before 18 arrives in a few months time. Looking back I was trying to find challenge that didnt restrict you to one club and certain players and one that had not been tried before and I stumbled onto this one from @mcandrew003

Quite a simple one, take players from not your normal European countries and get them to score 40 club goals. Simple, right?

Not when you have a limited pool of players to chose from so I though it would give me the best chance to use different clubs and players.

Where to start, so I decided to load up some of the lesser Eurpoean leagues so we have Holland, Portugal, France and Germany to play from.

First stop is Holland and -

16_feyenoord.png

I chose them as I needed to choose players from Northern Europe as the first part of this challenge.

The countries available are Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark and Latvia.

Season 1

So we start the season taking over at Feyenoord.

Transfers In
A lot of action in the first season to shape the squad with all positions being strengthened.
Lots of loans deals to help with limited funds. Brown has the ability to be world class I found.
a3bf17e6788fbf314c60099ce17ac760.png

Transfers Out
Only a couple of sales here to boost my funds plus youth team loan deals.

Dutch Super Cup
The guys have a dream debut in the Super Cup against PSV as we romp home to our first trophy.

Dutch Cup
A poor home defeat to Go Ahead in the Quarter final ends our quest here.
b2b89bf023212e411709ffdef9a0da1b.png

Euro Cup
We have a great run in the Euro Cup and make it all the way to final to face Leicester, heartbreak as we dominate the whole game then lose to a last minute Fuchs free kick! Fuchs sake!

Eredivise
We only lose one game on our way to our first league title.

Yearly Awards
Rudnevs proved his worth by grabbing the Eredivisie Player of the Year Award with Jørgensen runner-up.

Player Stats
So playing with a 4-3-3 formation I was able to get goals spread around and Rudnevs nearly hit his 40 goals in this first season. Jørgensen was a little disappointing but his stats aren't the best for a natural finisher but still chipped in with 18.

Season 2

So with Rudnevs only a few goals short of his 40 that should be no problem but hopefully Jørgensen can improve, it might take a tactic tweak.

Transfers In
Some more squad building as boost our forward line with the signing of Ocampos, Bifouma and Chaves. Viviani proved to be a bargain buy for an excellent midfielder.

Transfers Out
Tough to take but van Beek wanted out so we got the best money I could plus a lot of free transfers.

Player Stats
A funny season all in all as we struggled with form throughout and injuries to key players. Jørgensen stepped up and top scored with 25 goals to ease past 40 club goals and Rudnevs, who we lost for 4 months hit 22 so we have completed this first part of the challenge.

I agree, although I made an error and picked a country from the third part of the challenge but it worked out ok.

Not sure what I was thinking I obviously didn't read through each part right!

Happy to get it done in a couple of seasons.

He is funny player, not quite the out and out goalscorer and has trouble with his stamina but got the job done in the end.

Jörgensen is a quality striker. Was the top scorer of last Eredivisie season when Feyenoord were crowned champions. I hope his stats will be improved in FMM 18, the guy is really phenomenal for Eredivisie level.

Sound like he is due an upgrade, he struggles to improve a lot in the game and does get injured a lot also.

Great job! Can't wait to see the next part! ?

I've just started a 1KC with Feyenoord, so I enjoyed seeing how you went with them. My first impression was that they were a little underpowered, but there's lots of young players, so I'm hoping they develop nicely. I sold Basaçikoglu though! Might have been a mistake seeing how he went above, but was a bit put off by the "Tends to do his own thing" message.

Think you have hit it spot on. The do have some good players in most areas but after the first 11 then squad is thin. They have a couple of good center backs in van beek and Kongolo.

Basaçikoglu is a great player but does indeed do his own thing, I got the "texting in training" message so many times but he kept producing the goods on the pitch so I had to keep him till he started sulking...Good luck!

LOL, I've sold van Beek too! I liked the look of him, and if I *knew* he'd develop I would have hung on to him, but his CA and PA were the same, so I was worried that he wouldn't develop much. I need money to fund other parts of the team, so he went... I'll have to watch how he develops so I can kick myself! ?

I'm keeping Kongolo as it seems he has a lot of improvement left and I'll buy a more experienced player to partner him.

As for Basaçikoglu yeah he looks like a great player, but I got those texting messages too and I figured not what I need in a 1KC!

Season 3

So with the first part of Europe completed we were on the lookout for some new strikers and a new job!
Sadly the job front was very quiet indeed and I couldn't find one that peaked my interest so I decided to stay put in Holland.

The countries from where the strikers needed to be from were -

Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia, Switzerland, Croatia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Bosnia and Ukraine.

Now this is where I messed up as I chose a striker from Turkey, which is on the last list of countries to use! Think I was drunk. The guys I chose were -

Duje Čop
9e484af6fcb74bd9b44ddc9ad0c06393.png
A steal at just £2.4m from Calgairi as he was on the transfer list.

Tunay Torun
0f8e690d6b8a4051940b5d0d7bc38825.png
He is my incorrect player!

So we were still utilizing my 4-3-3 with Torun playing the FL position but it all went wrong. He hated the training, couldn't score for toffee and my tactic just fell apart so we scrapped everything come January and bought in the right striker...

Patrik Schick
63fa8438beb8dd0cf567622f5ec6fbfc.png
Again plucked from the transfer list for just £7m

Dutch Super Cup
So Čop hits a debut goal as we beat PSV in the season opener again.
5284ee12043363d0be3ee8d57767fb33.png

Job News
Lyon come sniffing, I would have jumped tp move to France but I need to complete this second stage first. Also Sporting are back in for me.

Dutch Cup
Poor finishing against Ajax lets us down in the Quarter Final.
af10a4f8636e404bff0caf4084dc012c.png

Season Review
So I appear to have deleted/not taken the correct screenshots for this season, my tablet has been playing up and also it could be me but you can see that we managed to retain our league title and progress to the Quarter Final of the Champions League.
f41c8e257f026effca95bff9e4decb9d.jpg

Player Stats
So it was a season of change as we changed strikers and tactics completely but my two new guys did well in the end. Čop was top scorer with 35 in his debut season and Schick, who only came into the team from January grabbed 26 goals so I was very happy with the return in the end.

Duje Čop

Season 4

So as my new strikers head into their second seasons we should be able to get them both to 40 goals with ease as Čop only needs 5 more goals and after a great few months Schick needs 14 this season to complete stage 2 of the challenge.

Transfers In
We need to reinforce the back line so I bought in Brook and Bruma in the centre and Vesovic and Alonso in the wing back roles. Carvalho on loan was also handy to stiffen the midfield.

Transfers Out
Not much going out, Petsos and Woundenberg were just squad players and also managed to offload Torun, my rogue striker!

Dutch Super Cup
The Čop-man bangs in a hat-trick as we blast Ajax away to lift our forth straight Super Cup.

Dutch Cup
Another disappointing cup run ends in the Quarter Final with defeat to Heerenveen.

Manager Stats

Player Stats
A good season for my strikers here after settling on a solid formation. Schick continued his good start to life in Holland by top scoring with 37 goals and Čop chipped in with 24 as they both ease past the 40 club goal targets to ensure I have completed Stage 2 of the challenge. Toornstra was pulling the strings just behind them.
