The F.C Barcelona 86-87 Challenge

Did you hear the one about the Englishman, Scotsman and Welshman?

June...1984.....Barcelona

Diego Maradona, one of the greatest players to play the game is deemed surplus to requirements at the Camp Nou and is sold to Napoli for £6.9m. Who would replace the him, several names are mentioned Rudi Völler, Hugo Sánchez also a possible a return for Austrian star Hans Krankl. Step forward a 27 year old Scottish International called Steve Archibald, he was signed from Spurs for £1.25m.

July 1986....

Terry “El Tel” Venables is going into his third season as manager at the Camp Nou, he has just failed to lift the European Cup a few months early losing on penalties to Steaua Bucherest. Needing some more fire power he looked again to the UK to provide the striking power he needed and signed Mark Hughes from Manchester United for £2m and Gary Lineker, fresh from his Golden Boot in the World Cup for £2.8m from Everton.

With the addition of Hughes and Lineker alongside Steve Archibald, Venables had an all UK front three. Due to two foreign player rule all three could not play at once but now you can pick up that challenge...

Challenge Rules

1. Load up Spain and any other countries and take charge of F.C. Barcelona.

2. You must sell/demote Messi, Suarez & Dembele. You cannot use them in this challenge.

3. You must buy one English, Scottish and Welsh striker to replace them.

4. Set a target for the number of club goals scored, international goals do not count.

5. Own formations only

6. No unlockables, edited databases, or use of any of the editors

7. Evidence is required, I'd suggest posting a career thread for us to follow.

8. No cheating - Restarting to avoid injuries counts as cheating!!

9. Either go for a 5 season target or 10 season.

@danovic78 do you mind explaining the set a number of goals option.

Like do I set a different number of goals for each player per season, or set collective number of goals for the three players per season?

There is no set number of goals. You just need to get your players to score as many goals each season to put a total on the leaderboard.

I have said that you could do a short 5 season career for older strikers or pick three young players to post a total on the 10 season leaderboard.
