We'll most likely all want to return to FMM17 after a month of 18 anyway :P Going great mate. His stats are so impressive now.

Haha, great point. Feel much better now, thanks! He's looking alright isn't he. Not sure if he's going to be able to make it 90 or 100 goals per season like some, but he's an outside chance I reckon. More like I'll settle for 80 a season (including INT), which is plenty. I'm gonna run him long and squeeze every last goal outta him..

Going well mate. Love the 66mil profit on Pogba!

Thanks mate! Yeah it was a no brainer to sign him on a free. If he turned out to score too many goals, then he was always going to be an easy sale. And so it proved.

Part of me wishes I'd kept him, but just have too many players right now. Also, didn't say it above, but I sold him in January, just after arranging for Renato Sanches to come in on a free in the off season. He's younger and I think more likely to provide assists and I had some really good players already, so it seemed time...

Looks like you'll be playing well beyond FMM18's release day :)

I read thru the updates I missed and things are looking solid. Great stuff!

Fantastic season for you there mate. I'm predicting some big numbers over the next few seasons. Colidio looks brilliant now by the way. Wonder what he'll look like in FMM18...

Thanks mate, His 20 Shooting keeps dropping to 19 and then goes back up again for some reason. Still can't complain too much! ?

He was actually taken out of the Scotland Only DB in the Jan/Feb update, so I had to use the original databases. Not sure that bodes well! Not sure how he is going in real life..

Oh wow, just googled it and Inter signed him 6 weeks ago. So I guess he'll be in there if Italy is loaded (depending on Inter's squad size). Will be interesting to see!

My word his attributes are INSANE. Decent season in all mate but surely he'll improve with age.

Was that Ajer guy a regen? He looks very good.

Also winning the cup with your left back in goal during the final is pretty jokes.

Just imaging the opposition team coming out to that sight XD Must have thought you were taking the piss.

Yeah, I think he'll peak in a couple of years. Hoping so anyway, reckon he'll do alright...

Ajer is actually a real life player. I think he's only in the squad if Scotland is the main league loaded, but he's real and he's pretty good. Definitely great for a challenge like this, especially at the start. As you go on, he probably moves back to the bench (and he easily retrains to play all the central positions so he is great cover). Although his attributes develop really well, I think his CA must not be that great. He only gets three stars once I bring in the real quality players and his performances are good, but not as good as the real quality players.

LOL about the left back in goal. Who needs a goalie? We're trying to emulate Bayern:

Update - Season 8

Colidio is hitting his stride now, with 75 goals in season 7. Can he continue at that sort of rate?

On the team side of things, Celtic is now the dominant team in world football, so there's no real target as such anymore. We just gotta keep on winning them Champions League trophies...

Transfers, etc

Spoiler

The board gave me £217M to spend this year, but there's just no way I can actually spend it... First world (football) problems, hey?

Our team is pretty set now and it's hard to improve it significantly, although I am always looking for players who will provide more assists than those we have. We do still have too many players though, so I have been trying to set some free.

Leading the path to the exit this season were Lemos, a world class centre back who blinked slightly and dropped behind a bunch of talented teammates, and Brandt, a truly excellent wide player stuck behind Coman, Pavon, Lemar, CR7a Gamiero and Guzman (who may be Messi's regen). We also let go a bunch of very promising youngsters.

We didn't need to bring in many players, but the two significant ones were Renato Sanches on a free (scored way too many goals vs assists, the opposite of why we signed him) and Gianluigi Donnarumma (very solid, although not much of an improvement on the very promising youngsters we'd been relying on).

Competitions

We won all the domestic competitions again. Once again we dominated the League, winning by 55 points and scoring 115 goals, while only conceding 9. We were undefeated, but couldn't win every game (35-3-0).

Development

I was going to leave this out, but Colidio now looks like this:

colidio-season08-24.png.51e4888a91e8bdbfcaa18e0a55066d12.png

He actually lost a point of Shooting and Dribbling and they didn't come back. Not sure why, as he's been Intensive on Attacking... Interesting development, but still a decent player!

He was World Player of the Year again too.

colidio-season08-09.png.c0e94c64048942b7811ed9eabc59e61c.png

Injuries

Last year was a bad one for injuries, but this year the scales were evened out - no injuries!

Goals

After last year's big hauls of 6, 4, 4 and 4, Colidio only managed the one quadruple this year:

colidio-season08-12.png.be16b28362365a5d132580546bc279e3.png

I didn't do such a good job of keeping him fresh this time around and I think it meant he lost that explosive edge. Still he did alright picking up ones and two.

At the club level, he scored 67 goals in 50 appearances:

colidio-season08-25.png.b84fc15c930c720924b5cbd73602381a.png

So around the same number of goals, but his ratio dropped. Hopefully we can pick that up a bit next year.

ITN Goals

Colidio started the season with 16 ITN goals (9 from before I took over):

colidio-season07-75a.png

By the end of the season, he'd scored another 14 goals (in 10 games) at ITN level:

colidio-season08-24a.png.7008d7e6812595d83e384af3de479f3f.png

Progress

24 years old (EOY) Season Total
Club Goals 67 384
ITN Goals (-9) 14 21
Totals 81 405

So, a little down on club goals, but the ITN goals push him through the 80 mark. I'll take that.

The Future

Once again, I'll go into next year hoping Colidio can push it a little further. To be honest, I'd be satisfied if he gets 80 per season from here on in, but I think 90 is a realistic target sometime over the next 5 seasons. Will it be next year?

International goals help sooooo much when you can get the job.

Thanks mate!

Have mixed feelings about the ITN job. Would love it with say a Nigerian striker, as there's LOTS of goals there, but the South America opposition is tougher, so less goals. The goals are still nice, but I sort of think if I rested him and kept him super fresh for the likes of Partick Thistle, he'd have got more hauls of 6 goals, 5 goals, etc and might have scored more all round. Who knows!

He had 60 games this year (and came off an off season with the Copa America so no real break there). I'll experiment with playing him less, just against the weaker opponents across both club and country, and see what happens. Just so hard to leave him out though...

Still on target mate. As MM said I think ITN will help. Shame can't set up friendlys against easy teams for Argentina as you must get some tough games in s.america compared to Europe where you have teams like San Marino.

Thanks mate! I had a few friendlies including a couple of easier countries, but mostly qualifying... Wouldn't it be great if you could select the teams you wanted to play friendlies against like you could in the PC version (at least I think you used to be able to)? How awesome would that be!

Thanks Taff! I really want to beat my last score, and I think I'm on track to do that. Mind you I'm looking at that new tactics screen in FMM2018 and thinking thinking about how long it's going to take me to finish this! Nah, can't give up now. Past the point of no return! ?

Thanks mate, I've calculated that if I lock myself away for 48 hours and don't sleep, eat or have any toilet breaks, then I can almost finish this by Friday...

Nah... I guess I'll be here looking after the good old FMM2017 board long after you've all migrated to the FMM2018 one and are writing up your 2KCs with the new tactics options, etc...

Update - Season 9

So everybody is playing FMM 2018, but Colidio is plugging away here in FMM 2017 and will be for some time. He's getting about 80 goals a season now (club and country combined) and is on track to get to 1K in a month or two.

Transfers, etc

colidio-season09-37.png.494dd8e39897d747f04a0602a5da258c.png

Not much action this year. Sold some of the (quite good) players that can't quite get game time and bought in another couple of promising youngsters for the future.

The big drama of the year was a non-transfer: Kingsley Coman. I left him out for one game too many and he spat the dummy. Now a bunch of players, including Colidio, don't like him much. And he doesn't like me. He cost £150M plus a very good player, but he's going to have to go.

One team offered £44M and I decided to bargain - wrong move. They took their money and went home and after that no-one would even look at him, not even on a free transfer. In the end he got very familiar with our reserve squad, but I need to find a way to move him on next year.

I won't miss him from a playing perspective, because he hasn't been the assist monster I've found him to be in other saves (apart from that one decent season in 22/23):

colidio-season09-19.png.81c4ffc72575afc32b4c2ae3295ef07a.png

Very good, yes... But Pavon provides more assists and we have so many youngsters who can take his spot in a heartbeat. Not to mention Pulisic coming in on a free next season. So off to the Reserves you go...

Fun Fact

According to the scouting agency, the top 25 players in Scotland are all Celtic players. Nice squad!

Competitions

Shock horror! For the first time in years we didn't win all the domestic competitions.

Rangers knocked us out of the Scottish FA Cup in the semi final. They equalised in the 96th minute of normal time, then again in the 118th minute of extra time, before putting us away on penalties. We had 21 shots to 2... Still, it goes to show that the only way to beat this Celtic team is through something truly extraordinary like this.

Meanwhile in the League, we finally won every game! 38-0-0 with 124 goals for and only 5 against. Not bad. We wrapped the title up on 9th Feb and I keep wondering if we'll ever get it done in January. A couple of draws instead of wins for the 2nd placed team and we'd have done it.

Injuries

Colidio got a ghost injury in early November:

Goals

Colidio scored two quadruples this year:

colidio-season09-29.png.fc72a10283c6e94c99fc9dbfbdbe8316.png

At the club level, he scored 71 goals in 49 appearances:

colidio-season09-38.png.b519b52be5f3c66fae976102a91e4263.png

Doing well. Interesting to note that my policy of resting him against good opposition in Europe (and injuries of course) has meant he's never played more than 50 games in one season. In my original Armstrong 1KC, he was playing 55-60 each year. The difference is that I manage Colidio internationally and he's playing quite a few more games there.

ITN Goals

Colidio started the season with 30 ITN goals (9 before I took over):

colidio-season08-24a.png.7008d7e6812595d

By the end of the season, he'd scored another 8 goals (in 5 games) at ITN level:

colidio-season09-39a.png.3284e348fdde83382232d029e9428f90.png

We finish the season with the Confederation Cup about to kick off, but seeing it's after the new season prompt, I'll leave it for the next update.

Progress

24 years old (EOY) Season Total
Club Goals 71 455
ITN Goals (-9) 8 29
Totals 79 484

Just shy of the 80 mark (but with Confederation Cup goals to come), so doing well and on track for at least 1K.

The Future

Rinse and repeat. And keep reading the FMM 2018 bug post, so I'm not tempted to go start a career in that (I bought it the first hour it was out)... ?

Thanks mate, the rest of the SPL are terrified of him alright! :D

But lots of little signs that he's genuine quality too. Value now at £106M in the following season (Armstrong never topped about £40M), one of the 3 starred players for Argentina, his ranking in the scout generator, already got as many WPotY awards as Armstrong did, etc. All that stuff is probably influence by average rating, but he just seems to be a different class compared to Armstrong (still love him though).

At the end of the day it's you who's responsible for ruining Coman's career. If you can't handle the disruptive nature of an enfant terrible then perhaps you should pass on the managerial seat to the next :P

Mind you, could be a good idea to start a 1KC now, while it seems like it's easy to score a bunch of goals (maybe they wlil make it harder later)...

Nah, spent 6 weeks on this, not giving up anytime soon. :)
