Career Bang goes the Lahm!

So for my final career on FMM17, I thought I would try this short little challenge from @Real_Random

The two targets are to get Lahm to score 28 goals before he retires and achieve 700 club appearances, which mean he needs another 48 games to get there.

Philipp Lahm
So we arrive at Bayern and here we have the legend that is Philipp Lahm. Still looking good in most state, he was never that quick or strong in his prime. His stamina is vital to keep quite high.

Tactics
So looking at the squad I decided to keep it simple with a basic 4-1-2-2-1. Although I played around with the player roles on the two flanks depending on the players available. Sometimes using both W or INF.

After a while I felt I needed to change it up and get Lahm further up the pitch and I was having trouble filling the wide spots with Robben and Ribery seemingly always injured. I changed it up a bit. Ditched the wide men in favour of proper wingbacks and 3 at the back.

Transfers In
With the big departure of Alaba, Telles is a superb replacement. Lots of solid cover in most areas here.

Transfers Out
Couldn't really say no the Alaba money and Martinez was only a squad player but was moaning all the time.

Super Cup
Awful start as we crash to Dortmund in the Super Cup. Things can only get better.

Lahm's progess
So in his first 20 games, Lahm has popped up with 6 goals. Happy with that return. Four of those were pens and two from open play.

Champions League
How did we need score over two legs? Neuer is prone to an odd game and first leg he literally couldn't catch a cold!

Bundesliga
A very solid first season sees us ease to the title.

German Cup
Another Neuer meltdown here. First three shots went straight in. Managed to claw it back but ultimately losing on pens to RBL

Player Awards and Stats
Lewandowski's early season form ensures he takes the Ballon D'Or

Lewi makes it a doube by landing the German Player of the Year Award. Lahm is rewarded with runner-up.

With over 50 goals, Lewandowski lead the line well. Bradley was the driving force in Midfield with Costa and Coman also chipping in good seasons.

I pick up the Manager of the Year Award too.

Average first season with just the league to show. Better run in Europe needed next season.

Philipp Lahm

He had a great season all round. 10 goals and 10 assists was a very good return. He has kept his stats well and the slight change in tactic enabled him to get forward more and chip in a few more goals. Also playing 36 of the 48 game target.

Thanks, the switch in tactic really helped as the Wing Backs get such high ratings and pop up further up the pitch although I can't see him nodding one home at the back post!

I really don't know, I wasn't looking to sell him and the fee just came out of the blue. I've seen him go for over £100m in other games.

It started around £85m opening bid but I just kept moving it £1m over the last bid until it got silly money not to accept.

Well I had Barca and Real bidding so I just upped their highest bid by £1m then they seem to go up another £10m then wait until there is one final offer and either accept or reject.

Yeah auctions are the greatest thing ever! 

And thanks for the link to the challenge, but something's gone wrong with @Real_Random 's maths! Looking at the screenshots above, Lahm has 26 club and 5 ITN goals. You have 18 to go to complete the challenge, which would give Lahm... 49 goals? 

I guess you're playing with the original db and @Real_Random must have been using the mid-season one? Or the game dropped a goal somehow. Anyway, close enough!

They are indeed.  It was never my intention to sell him but couldnt turn down that kind of money.

I did check with @Real_Randomregarding the figures I needed to hit so we decided just to stick with his original targets in the challenge.

Cracking little challenge dude and a good first season, but getting your RWB to net another 18 goals at 34/35 is going to be one hell of a challenge, but you are the man so I have faith

I know. I always seem to find that I have 1/2 terrible games in the Champs League every season where my keeper will get a 4 or 5 rating and concede the first few shots? Odd?

If I can manage to get 9 per season over the next couple I should be ok but keeping him fit for a good number of games is the key.

He does take a good free kick though which is a big bonus.

Season Two

So after a decent first season we were still left with 18 more goals for a now 33 year-old Lahm.

Just 12 more games required to hit the target of 48.

Transfers In

Lots of big hitters coming in this window. Felt I needed to bring some better talent in to boost the squad.

Transfers Out

Costa and Tiago were the big name exits as we looked to freshen up things.

Super Cup

Lewi again the man as hit blasts a hat-trick to help lift the Super cup in the season opener.

German Cup

You have to love those non league first round draws. Lewi on fire but Lahm pops up with two also 

Our finishing costs us again, we fail to make the final as Mainz get the better on pens in the Semi Final.

Champions League

More poor form in Europe as we crash out to Atletico in the First Round 

Bundesliga

A few poor defeats but another comfortable title win.

Player and Manager Awards

Lewi retains his Ballon D'Or.

Lewi grabs his double again by winning the Player of the Year award with Coutinho in second.

I retain my Manager of the Year Award.

Player and Manager Stats

So Lewi was again the king. Countinho had a great first season providing the chances and Telles bombing down the left was a constant threat.

Just the league and Super Cup this season, could have better and failed in Europe again.

Philipp Lahm

With his contract running out at the end of the season it was good to tie him down for another two seasons.

By January he was already on 6 goals and 12 assists. Marauding up the right wing like a 20 year old!

So 9 goals was the target and he hit it bang on. Should have been more as he missed 3 pens during the season too! 

At the end of the season he still looked in decent shape for one more season.

I hope so. Yeah, not really cut it in the cups. Not sure the tactic is quite right yet.

More European struggles but domestically and player wise you're doing well! I have to be honest the level of Lahm's performances is surprising me somewhat haha. 

PS - I didn't know where else to say it but great work in reposting all the challenges mate! It's more of a ball ache than people realise haha.

I know, they just suddenly stop playing in Europe. Maybe need to change the tactic up a bit? He has kept his stats really well but he physical ones were never that great in the first place. Stamina still good.

No worries, just thought it would be easier to find them all on one page and it does take a bit of time to post but hopefully we can have a variety of challenges taken on by players in FMM18 and not just the 1k.

Season 3

After another solid season we still require another 9 goals to reach our target of 28 goals for Lahm. Will be a tough ask for the 34 year old.

Just in case we need another season I tie him down to a new two year deal, he loves the club! 

Tactics
Another slight change, still using the 3 at the back but using 2 up front for a more attacking 5-2-1-2.

Transfers In
Only Simeone in Janauary after selling Pratto. Never tried him so thought I would see how he goes as cover for Lewi.

Transfers Out
Traore was a big disappoinment and Barca taking him was a blessing. Pratto and Benatia were just squad players so no real loss.

Super Cup
Another Super Cup in the bag as a Lewi brace helps us seal a win over Mainz.

 Oh dear, Vidal went nuts. I seem to have got a 90 day ban in every career I have posted on here!! 

Champions League
Much better this season as we make it all the way to the final but sadly Juve are too strong.


Bundesliga
Another mixed season in the league but I do enough to secure our third title.

German Cup
More cup heartache as we fail to put Dortmund away in normal time and crash out on pens. 

Player Awards and Stats
Three straight Ballon D'Or's for Lewandowski.

Plus three double awards as Lewi takes the Germna First Division Player of the Year award with Telles second.

Sanches coming of age sees him take the German First Divsion Young Player of the Year award.

Another 50 goal season for Lewi. Simeone did well in his short time after being signed in January.
Muller was great in DLF role and Sanches had a storming season.

Three manager awards in a row for me also.

Manager Stats
So overall not a bad three seasons but our form in the cups was pretty shocking but the target was goals and not trophies.

Philipp Lahm

What a way to finish. Hitting 35 now and he managed to smash his target by blasting 11 goals this season to finish with 30 goals over the three season!

Yeah, decent season for a 35 year old!

I think he pushes the ref! I had it in my Triple Threat Challenge and Gabriel Jesus did it
