Career Internazionale - Die Deutsche Trio Challenge

I was going through the index of challenges  catalogued by @danovic78 and came across this challenge. Got bored playing after 8 ingame years. By the looks of it the challenge is to buy three german players(a centre back/midfielder, a left back and a striker) and play through a period of four seasons(unless you get sacked that is), ranked by the point system stated in its description. So I thought...Why not?? 

 

 I'll post major updates every half of a season... So the journey begins!!!

I took the INTER top job and immediately set to work transfer listing the players surplus to requirements and mostly demoting the loaned lot to the reserve team. Transfer window was busy, as I bought the 3 german players and made some bargain purchases

The first loss against Lazio was quite expected as I was fiddling with tactics, getting to know my players' strength and weaknesses. As the season wore on, I got a somewhat successful tactical setting. Though milan were simply dogged. 

The Fiorentina match made me sweat though

The tension I felt due to my late equaliser made me feel like it was real. I did show them a glimpse of FERGIE TIME though

The draw hurt because I outplayed them but DYBALA was not taking any of it

Erik Durm and Thilo Kerner haven't been regulars due to niggling injuries and haven't hit their stride with their limited game time but I hope they do

Season 1-Part two

The only benefit from not playing in the European Champions League and being knocked out of the TIM cup was that I got to focuse on the Serie A. With the usual 4-7 day interval, my players were mostly well rested before matchdays. 

I also had to tinker with my preferred formation to give Timo Werner a center forward role. 

Let's look at how the season was shall we :

Had a bloody horrible time trying to pry the title from THE OLD lady's strong grip - until they lost their first match that is- and I never did win them the records stood at 2draws and a loss. But so what,  We are champions and they are not!!!!

A look at how my first team players performed, even the loaned out ones

 

The trio

Found him quite useful in the second half of the season. Never looked back

He too became a main stay on my team as the first choice left back

Inspite of his comparatively low goal stats for a forward of his calibre, he did contribute to the team as a whole hence the good average rating. A look at his number of appearances and you won't believe he was out for a month.

This guy averaged a goal a game and 12 assists!

Other noteworthy players

There's Ivan Perisic who I sold in late June before remembering to take a snapshot of his value then. I sold him for 40m though. There's also

Would have bought him a lot less if not for a bidding war. But still a bargain if you ask me.

Oh and Icardi was the league's top scorer while Luan was with the highest assist (didn't quite remember to screenshot that too, my bad!)

Yeah..Kondogbia was quite reluctant to sign a new deal though we agreed at last. As for Gabigol, I have great plans for him. Let's see how it goes. Thanks by the way.

Season 2 - Transfer Update 

I did say I'll update twice a season but I've decided to post an update covering my transfer activity.

Transfers In

Considering that I just qualified for the UEFA Champions League, I wanted to add depth to my squad and I identified the goalkeeping, centre back, wingback and centre midfield positions. 

With the board offering 70m for transfers and I looking for mostly backup players except for the centre back position , I set to searching the transfer list. Made my decisions and swooped in.

I intend using Jones-Kehrer as the regular centre back pair, that's if Jones' injuries are not persistent. The lot of them are mostly backups. Though Mario Delpiano looks great for the future and has hit the ground running.

Brozovic's presence was quite disruptive, seeing as almost everyone had a strained relationship with him. And Perisic well...... I couldn't turn down 40m for a 29year old.

Season 2 - Season Finale 

This was a great season by all standards. Picked up a lot of trophies.

Player Ratings 

Great performances by most of the players. With Icardi, Kondogbia, Werner, Barbosa, Luan and Durm being in top form.

Kehrer's stats do look very greenish. Though his injuries are niggling, I did manage to squeeze out 40 appearances. Werner was out for 2 months too, but thag didn't get in his way. Durm turned in top class performances through out the season.

Yeah. They had top players already, just needed the right tactic. Thinking or selling a few top performers to make it a little bit harder, but then I risk provoking the whole squad.

Season 3

Season 2 was quite a wonderful season. But it just became a whole lot better.

Transfers :

Really didn't see the need for a squad overhaul or marquee signing. Brought in Santos (16 year old CB with high prospects), Curtis and Hernandez (CMs with high prospects too)

Great performances again so far by the players.

I use three different forms though, depending on my tactical analyst and my instincts. If you have any issues with the player selections for any role, just holler and I'll try to explain what I know.

2-2-2-3-1

This here is my preferred form

 

2-2-2-2-2

This is somewhat similar to the 2-2-2-3-1. But I use it mostly because I want Werner to get more goals. I use it too for any team using the overload option and also late in the game when I want to pile on pressure (in such a scenario, I use the overload, early crosses and shoot on sight options too).

1-2-2-2-1-2

Tbh I don't have any super tactical reason for using this tactics. The only reasons I have is the desire to checkout the libero or to use three central defenders somewhat.

Though I did win everything, I didn't enjoy this last season so much. The only good performer of the trio was Durm. Had to drop Werner due to Martial outscoring him. Also had to drop Kehrer because it seemed we conceded less when the CB partnership was Rodrigo and Skrinair.
