Much Adu About Nothing Challenge

Now gather round children. Its grandpas story time. 

Way way back when i was a young chap, all of this was fields and Football manager was championship manager there was one wonderkid to rule them all. 

His name? Freddy Adu

A young American boy who was playing professional football at the age of 14/15. He promised so much...........

.........yet delivered so little.

He moved to Benfica and did very little before floating around doing even less. He ended up back in the good old USA and washed up in his mid 20s.

Or did he? There still must be some potential there waiting to ooze out of him. This brings me to the challenge i will attempt.

The Player

The years have not been lind to freddy with his attributes being similar to a lower league player.

The Team

Now Adu is 28 and isnt the best player so I decided on a lesser league and a decent team within it.

The league? Turkish Superleague.

Season 1

So I forgot to screenshot the signings in year 1 but they weren't the biggest with a few free signings and a couple of cheap south americans.

The season proved to be more difficult than I had imagined and the team seemed weaker than I had realised.

We did ok in the cup but were pretty poor in the league.

7th in the end left me begging the board for my job near the seasons close.

Its really paying off. Works well based on his dribbling, passing to the striker and even movement at 13 is not bad.

Season 2

So season 1 was bad for the team but good for Mr Adu

After that season I decided to have a massive clearout and restocking of the team.

Here is who I brought in, taking advantage of the contracts of some decent looking youngsters expiring. 

Here is my big signing though.

This guy is to be played in front of adu to knock balls down and will also be able to score a fair few himself.

So with the signings made how would our team do this year?

Much better! The board must be happy that they trusted me after last season. Did the new striker make a difference?

He certainly did by contributing towards 32 goals. Nice signing.

Wow! Massive season for the american as he shows the ability he should have so much sooner with 32 goals and 25 assists. What a year.

Some season! Definitely exceeding expectations here despite carrying a painful set of attributes. Better send him off on an extended holiday lol

To be honest I used this exact tactic to take a stoke team with no signings to the premier league title in season 1. That was how i tested it. This made me very aware that anyone in that shadow striker role would pick up goals and assists.

Get him on corners. He is decent at them and sometimes picks up the rebounds too.

He has not complained to me but i noticed his stats drop in season 2 so i alternated him between fitness and motivation for a month and he got back into training normally

Thanks man. He doesnt complain much about training strangely. Have not had to alter his regime this whole season.
