The Fernando Peyroteo Challenge

So you think you can score a lot of goals? 100 plus a season from just one player? (y) This is the challenge for you! (y)

Fernando Peyroteo is rarely mentioned alongside the likes of Eusébio, Luís Figo and Cristiano Ronaldo in the debate about who is the greatest Portuguese footballer of all time, but going on statistics alone, the Sporting Clube de Portugal legend should undoubtedly be in the discussion.

Fernando Peyroteo’s goal scoring record is nothing short of ridiculous. In a short but extraordinary career for Sporting Lisbon, the Portuguese managed a mind blowing 331 goals in just 187 games. In his debut season, Peyroteo was at his blistering best, amassing 34 goals in 14 games at nearly 2.5 goals a game.

In 12 years at the club, Peyroteo won the league 5 times, as well as 5 domestic cups and a Portuguese Super Cup. He holds the distinction of having scored 9 goals in a single game as well as 8 in another game.

Peyroteo also managed 14 goals in 20 international appearances for Portugal.

Can you get close to the record of 331 goals in 187 games?

Season Four

Last season saw us kick things up a notch on all fronts, we had set the bar and now was the time to maintain our high standards.

Transfers:

Not too much to talk about this season, it was a simple case of one in one out. Amiri unfortunately became an outcast after I rejected a £55million bid from Barcelona, so to protect the team I demoted him and eventually managed to sell him on in January. He went to Monaco, which isn’t ideal seeing as they’re a domestic rival, but he had to go and his salary was putting off other clubs. Coming in to replace him is Christian Pulisic for £76million from Roma, he fits the winger role ideally to be honest as his shooting isn’t the greatest so I’m hoping he’s more liable to pass the ball.

Competitions:

  • Trophée des Champions - Beat Rennes 3-1
  • European Super Cup - Beat Chelsea 3-0
  • Club World Cup - Beat San Lorenzo 6-0
  • Coupe de la Ligue - Lost to Lyon in the semi final by a score of 1-0, the most bullshit game ever as we dominated from start to finish, had a goal disallowed and they had a man sent off!
  • French Cup - Beat Monaco 2-1
  • League - Won the League convincingly once again, lost once and drew twice but other than that it was a flawless effort
  • Champions League - Beat Manchester City 2-1 to win our fourth European Cup

Kylian Mbappé 1k Challenge:

This guy is just something else! He beat the Calendar Year Challenge in the last update and he keeps getting better and better. It’s just a matter of time before he hits a 100+ for me. 91 was the tally for this season which is fantastic in my eyes considering I’m juggling other challenges whilst doing this. Long may his form continue.

Fernando Peyroteo Challenge:

This challenge came to its conclusion this season, and Mbappé has smashed it out the park. 187 games played and he managed to score a very respectable 286 goals. To beat the challenge itself is impossible in my opinion, Mbappé has absolutely nailed this but he’s still 46 goals short of Peyroteo’s record! Madness. Either way I’m happy to have my name on the leaderboard for this and along with @PriZe I’m the only one to complete it.

Kai Havertz Assists Challenge:

This lad has now become my favourite player hands down. He just delivers time and time again, his average rating does not reflect how important a player he is. Slightly down on last season but he still managed a very respectable 47 assists.

Challenge Totals:

Games: 212

Assists: 191

Triple Threat Assists Challenge:

Finally, let’s see how Alaba got on in this part. We’ve already seen Mbappé had a total of 10 for the season once again, Havertz had a total of 47 assists which is enough for him to complete his part of this challenge and Alaba had his best season to date as he produced 10 assists for the season! Wow, what a player, 10 assists! Unbelievable stuff from Alaba, he deserves so much credit for this! 10 assists puts him on 24, yes 24 for the career in just four seasons! That’s and average of 6 assists per season guys. Truly outstanding from the Austrian 😍
