MRI - Taff Needs His Head Examined A 3K Attempt

Season 18

Once again guys I have to apologise for the huge wait in this update, spent 2 weeks off with my daughter for Easter I have managed to finish the season, but had no time for the update, but here we are and we left off with both Mbappe and Rashford having already past the 1000 goal mark, and Isak needing only 46 goals to finish the 3K

So lets not have you guys waiting anymore, lets gets into it

Let's see how the team fared over the course of the season

Spoiler

Domestic

IMG_8120.thumb.PNG.542b889157a8e592cd8bd27400ad6445.PNG

We begin the season in great fashion, with all three aging strikers netting in the season opener against Nantes and once again we claim the Trophee des Champions

We squeak past LOSC in the Coupe de la Ligue final but 2-1 victory claims the cup for the boys at PSG once again

No mistake in the French Cup final as a brace from Rashford and Mbappe helps seal a great 5-1 win over Toulouse

IMG_8178.thumb.PNG.c4a671bb33911a7ead5bddc0bd9f7675.PNG

And another cake walk in the league as we secure our 18th league title in a row

Europe

IMG_8121.thumb.PNG.7d6e7f313da4d8030450ab9e213eb86a.PNG

We began our European campaign against Fiorentina in the Euro Supercup, and we edge them out after they fought back to 2-2 just after the break to win the game 4-2

IMG_8123.thumb.PNG.8972e5911bfe4c6c35f8f5c4e02af463.PNG

We breeze through the group stages (look how low Barcelona have sunk) and move on to the knockout stages

Spoiler

IMG_8167.thumb.PNG.f5255a31c7efd841fa4c00fc654f876c.PNG

This was a bit of an eye opener as we just manage to get past FCP in the first knockout round, but we pull it off and move on to the QF's

IMG_8176.thumb.PNG.b758440eb2b6ba5b0aea6cb643535c4e.PNG

Arsenal put up a hell of a fight in the second leg, but the 4-1 victory in the first leg was going to be hard for them to overcome, and we head to the SF's

IMG_8177.thumb.PNG.9f799cfad861e871cbba835ff7897827.PNG

We are playing dangerous football losing the second game to Roma, but once again our first leg form was enough to see us through

IMG_8180.thumb.PNG.83672fe74decca74c5216b87f33cb159.PNG

But after a quick start our luck runs out and we are unable to overcome Dortmund in the UCL final, and we miss out on the trophy for the first time in forever

CWC

IMG_8125.thumb.PNG.b212aa564845cf8cc4e12e7883c67a18.PNG

No messing this year as Isak nets 5 to help him along his way to 1000 goals for PSG

So we almost clean house, but we struggled more than usual in the UCL this year, and I think Mbappe and Rashford's age have caught up with them.

Now onto the main event, did Isak do it, can we finally close the lid on this HUGE career, lets see how my 37/36 year old pair did first

IMG_8181.thumb.PNG.53af8176a4599bd1156422eab2abb63b.PNG

His physical attributes have taken a decline, but his skill stats are still looking mighty impressive

IMG_8182.thumb.PNG.8001240b1a770b084211fdedc38501ea.PNG

He managed 32 goals for the season, having to rest a bit more this year, but he's been a trooper all the way through

IMG_8184.thumb.PNG.642df634c55d74467163057c71d3bd3a.PNG

His stats have stayed sharper than that of his French counterpart, and at 37 they look incredible

IMG_8185.thumb.PNG.b8f4d9ebb61380b8be091be14bebc95d.PNG

He played 2 more games than Mbappe but managed the same amount of goals, 32 for the season what a performance from the pair

But now this is what we wanted to see, is Isak going to join the boys on 1000 club goals, can we finally close the lid on this save

IMG_8187.thumb.PNG.bfbfa77cf68fdf8b3f9209d69a4d2af0.PNG

Again still looking impressive at 35, but his stats mean nothing if he can't use them......he needs 46 goals to break the 1k mark, could he do it.......

OH by a long shot he smashed it, netting a huge 75 goals for the season getting almost 30 more than he needed and we have done it players 1000 goals each for PSG

Here's the magic moment he hit goal #1000 (came in a French Cup game in January)

Netting goals 998. 999 and 1000 in the same game

Here's their respective histories from before they joined PSG just to show that they all have over 1000 club goals

Spoiler

IMG_8183.thumb.PNG.c95e430fc490379717ac383549f13bf3.PNG

Mbappe had 16 goals before joining the club so he ends his career at PSG with a whopping 1047 goals

IMG_8186.thumb.PNG.b134f157789f513bc3c1021f56ba4e6e.PNG

Rashford had 10 goals for Man U before coming to Paris and he eaquels his French team mate with a fantastic 1047 club goals

IMG_8189.thumb.PNG.dade852abc01e13f1d29f273da215aca.PNG

Isak also had 10 goals before joining the Parisian outfit and we ends with 1029 goals

For a massive total of 3127 goals between them (This is one I want to see on the TT leaderboard please @danovic78

A Roundup

So with this mammoth career now over I thought I'd just give you guys a quick roundup of trophies, manager stats, year by year goal breakdowns and some of the tactics used to achieve this huge triple 1k.

Here's a run down of our Trophy Cabinet after 18 amazing seasons

IMG_8222.thumb.PNG.b87507bc38185aba9c495e67f3b517d4.PNGIMG_8223.thumb.PNG.e3df9b5807e664cd5bd39a85845c6668.PNG

We won the league every season

IMG_8227.thumb.PNG.3bd0799f33fd9913d1ca0ee091193553.PNG

Plus 98 various cup competitions over the course of our time at PSG

The Manager profile looks pretty decent as well

IMG_8221.thumb.PNG.dea97ad714f4ef9bbd246bbfd1fa55ee.PNG

£4.3 Billion spent on players and £1.4 Billion from sold players over 18 years, which equals out at about £239M buying players and £78M on players sold

So some huge spending there, but we built the world's greatest teams each season to give my three strikers the help they needed in securing over 1000 goals each during their time in Paris.

I ended my 18 years in Paris as the 5th best ranked manager in the world

IMG_8226.thumb.PNG.a41c6753c5f4d260ca695f4dafcc026f.PNG

But god knows what more I could have done to break the top 3 after all the awards and such, but there we have it, bribes obviously exchanging hands somewhere.

Here's the teams overall records

IMG_8225.thumb.PNG.697d321c06d8d101005eb8481cafe1c3.PNG

The highest goals award goes to Rashford for his 89 goal season during the 11th season, and I think Bowen is getting a fair deal there as a backup striker who played maybe a handful of games getting a 9.00 avg rating, but Isak was our youngest ever player, while Rashford can go down as the oldest who played for us, then when you look at the transfer records, you can see why it's not balanced with our most expensive signing being £150M more than our most expensive sold player

Here is (according to the AI) my best ever XI

IMG_8228.thumb.PNG.7f211968de14e25145a07c4e74708b88.PNG

One quick question, where the hell is Mbappe how can you not include the guy in the all time XI, but all of these guys did play huge parts in this challenge so no real complaints (but seriously no Mbappe!!!!!!)

Now I did this as I thought it might interest some of you, this is a season by season breakdown of my three strikers goals per season.  I've put the highest scorer in bold each season and the highest season total as well

Totals

1029

3123

You might also noticed that the total I gave in the final update was out slightly as I must have miscalculated somewhere and the final total is 3123 (not 3127) but still a huge total for my three strikers.  Season 11 and 12 is where the boys shined best breaking the 200 goals in a season mark.  We also had 2 seasons where one of the boys broke the 80 goal mark and 5 where someone netted 70 or more, but I can't stress enough how proud I am of all these three have done.

Here's a screenshot of the three main strikers achievements after 18 seasons in Paris

IMG_8279.thumb.PNG.8fa7a8c91a96468c2ed28f8ebae2cb4d.PNG

Mbappe was named WPOTY 10 times as well as a host of best player in Europe, and French player of the year

IMG_8280.thumb.PNG.aa3456db2eb3440952d924daaee3bdb9.PNG

Rashford only won the WPOTY once, but he matched Mbappe for goals and to me that's more important

IMG_8281.thumb.PNG.e6ecc502a15a427a81fd99ac40d7d73a.PNG

Isak was always the third wheel in this act, but he powered on winning best foreign player on multiple occasions as well as a whole host of other awards

Now onto the tactics and I used a variety over my 18 years but these are the three I used mostly

IMG_8273.thumb.PNG.505f342d5386b68618e651f497a469b4.PNG

A fairly straightforward 343, the GK was a SK when I had De Gea in, and the three front roles changed depending on when the boys were in their prime (CF-P-CF) but this was the main setup

IMG_8277.thumb.PNG.738a5bd44f4742b7f71b89106700f92b.PNG

I also used a 433 for a time as well, but you need World Class WB's to bring the pain up the wings but with Stamina enough to get back and cover, the instructions changed later on to this less aggressive approach as my three got older and less creative.

IMG_8276.thumb.PNG.70dc28752db137b7070afc118792648b.PNG

This little beauty served me well for 3/4 seasons, alternating the front three around so all of them played in each position but it worked well for me.

IMG_8274.thumb.PNG.6dda9b8fbeb7a68bd8868dbfb4e752fa.PNG

Defense wise I didn't like playing too high up as that left me vulnerable to counter attacks from quick opposition, but I believe in commited tackling (yes half my team ended the game on yellow cards, but we won a huge amount of games, so half of one...

IMG_8275.thumb.PNG.ac392eb073c9a98aa28d8f90503634da.PNG

Then I like mixing my passing up, rather than sticking to one, I let the players decide on which is the best path to take, and the final third instructions seemed to serve me well

So that's it for my wrap up guys, hope you all enjoyed this career and I look forward to starting something new in the near future (as soon as the Vibe Muse strikes)

Many thanks again for all the comments and support during this and I'll see you all soon for another Career

Loving the write up. A lot of thought went in to it and your career.

If you were starting the game afresh and could sign any players (unlimited budget) using the unbalanced tactic for a one season TT, who’d you pick? The reason I ask is that I think a lot of success on this game is based on picking the players to suit your style, rather than picking the best player possible and shoe-horning them in.

OH that's a tough one but I think something like this

5ad82ae0e8328_IMG_82851.thumb.PNG.946768498c6e10d8b54012518fb2ed25.PNG

These are the players I would take with an unlimited budget, some youth, some experience and plenty of clout

De Gea (IMO) is the best GK in the game

Laporte and Marquinhos are two solid CD (Boateng and Pique also good options)

Henrichs at RB is a young but solid FB who can help out up front when you need

Alex Sandro at LWB as he's a solid defender but has great pace and crossing stats to get up top as well

Goretzka is a WC CM and has a great eye for goal as well as great passing

Nainggolan has played amazing for me whenever he is called upon and is a great creative CM

Michail Antonio is one of the best out and out wingers in the game and has been a purchase for me in pretty much every save

who else but Neymar would you want in that IF spot, technically gifted and pacy as hell

Dybala doesn't have the stamina for the ADF role, but as a PCR, there aren't many more deadly in front of goal

Now the ADF spot is up for debate, but I love Timo Werner and would have him but Mbappe is a very very close second

How about you @Rob2017 who would you use?

Interesting. I love your admiration of Antonio. I’ve never used him. I must do one game.

I would probably go with the same keeper and back three as you. I quite like Van Dijk too, as he tends to fix the ‘Defence beaten in the air’ issue that I find Marq and Laporte get. Henrichs is the best player around IMO.

I would probably play Alaba and KDB in WBL and AM, which I must admit is all a bit Jimmy Obvious, but the two lads are so consistent for me. Talking of consistency, if you were to look it up in the dictionary then Goretzka as DLP should be the definition.

It is the attacking options that you’d choose that interest me the most. I’ve never really played wingers a lot before. Whenever I have I always end up with them scoring too much in the challenges. Does Antonio bang many goals in?

Front three-wise, I have an unhealthy obsession with Pavon as left IF, but I know it seems ridiculous that I’d drop Neymar for him. Suarez is my fave player in the game over the past five years when played as poacher, so I’d pop him in. Not sure about AF, but Werner always looks solid for other teams although I’ve never used him.

I think your challenge has been amazing to read and it’s fascinating who you have signed and how you’ve constructed your team, especially the whole ‘round pegs in round holes’ solution, rather than, say, forcing Neymar to play as a right winger.

Antonio does bang them in I will admit, and I would love a good TM in the middle, )and for that I'd go Isak, Giroud or there's a solid Italian Stiker called Petagna I've used in the past who is a great option), but he does provide assists as well, and I've never regretted bringing him in.  The other option is someone like Salah and change the position to an AP, that might give you the good mix of crosses and passes you need from a wide player

After I posted I thought, why would I pick Nainggolan when KDB is the obvious choice, and I would take him over anyone else.

The rest I'm happy with, but VVD is a solid shout at CD, but have never used him so might give it a go

To be honest I'm bored at the moment and can't think of anything I want to do, so might use Sugar Daddy to get a combination of our choice of players and play a season and see how we do
