Choosing to do a more real life like manager career and see how far I can go. Starting unknown and no editors/unlockables used. I’m not going to stay at one team and build power team like a normal career but instead always be looking for a better job/club and a national team job.. My nationality is also American and it seems to be a negative for reputation/jobs . I will try to see if I can surpass Bob Bradley and become the most successful American manager ever. Interested to see what different clubs/leagues this journey will take me...

Well after one too many concussions I have decided to end my playing career and get certified as a manager. Right now just hoping for any job in France, England, Spain or Italy to start my career. I’ll take whoever gives me a chance no matter the level as I want to start in Europe ASAP.

My agent has sent out my resume and told me to sit tight as there will be openings as the season progresses so I have been waiting for months and no replies to the 20 teams I’ve applied for. Just as I’m about to lose hope I get the call I’ll never forget it’s the board at Solihull Moors in the Vanarama National League and they are struggling to avoid relegation but wanted to take a chance on a fresh new manager who might be able to bring some new ideas to shake up the team and bring success in the next couple of years. Even though they are deep in a relegation battle along with a small stadium seating only 5k, with bad training/youth facilities I know can’t be picky and accept right away as you gotta start somewhere so my journey begins...

17/18- Vanarama National League 

Demoted ❌

First job doesn’t go as expected and I was unable to rescue the team from relegation and we finished in the drop zone by one point . We are relegated to Vanarama National League North . Very few players showed promise and with a small budget I will need to dive deep into Bosman signings and free agency but it won’t be easy either with a small wage bill, crap facilities and low reputation to find quality players to get us on the right path ..

Yeah was hired too late to prevent the relegation but next season I was able to put my own players and sell/release players that got team relegated.. tactics were (4-4-2 ) with the 2 outside midfielders as AM and were IF or W. An attacking tactic was great for VNN til middle of League One season had to change tactics as IF weren’t as great and I think league caught up talent wise so not as easy to be attacking all the time so went to a narrower 4-3-3 and going through the middle instead of outside Wingers for offense focus.. 

I will post some players that I can remember but mainly just scouring expiring contracts and free agents for decent players who had talent for each league but not good enough for top teams .. The only drawback was you needed to add the Big Club clause to get them to sign for a small club and usually after a big season I lost them to a bigger club and had to always have replacements ready. When Brexit hits it makes it 2x harder as there were a bunch of French, Italian and Spanish youngsters released but couldn’t sign them because they wouldn’t get a work permit. Also I have the worst training /youth facilities, smallest staff capacity and the  smallest stadium capacity in the Championship...

Finally got some upgrades approved for the club. Now I have 2x scouts & physios for the Premier League next year but still only 2 coaches and stadium can only fit 11k . I think I will have probably the worst facilities and stadium again in Premier League. Nice to hold onto top players not having them bolt after a good year when higher teams snag em for cheap activating Big Club Clause ... Suprised no other coach offers and trying to keep to Real Life I have been applying every couple of months to higher leagues but got none so guess I’m stuck here til that changes ...

Yes so far halfway thru first EPL season and  it’s def not a cakewalk when other teams stacked, max facilities, staff and stadiums along with a huge budget . I’m post halfway point update.. I kinda wanted RL Manager where u go to many clubs working way to top divisions but now feels like step down if accept jobs other 1-2 divisions..

Good luck man it takes forever to get a decent budget, facilities etc ... IDK if American nationality hurts getting jobs as took long to get national job and couldn’t get a whiff of any division 1-2 teams in England, France, Italy or Spain and now I’m in EPL kinda odd.. if u need players look for my Lower League Player thread put best players I found.. 

USA national team job has disappeared in my save since # of American players fell below minimum guessing cause I don’t have Germany and MLS loaded so there goes being USMNT coach ?

Thx for reading bro but if you check GA that’s over 100 too so it was too late to save em no matter how many I score but it seems almost every year have a player as top scorer and assists but also give up huge amount of goals.

Manager Summary :

”Well we are doing better than expected staying mostly just off the European spots but also pretty safe from relegation. I also brought in high priced players for the first time in Americans M.Miazga and C.Carter-Vicks so they could form a solid CB duo to build a foundation. We had a deep core of attacking options and after a couple months in I had to switch to a 4-1-3-2 formation so we had too many attackers and midfield. I also decided during January transfer window we would be mainly sellers to start getting rid of a big squad and selling off the extras when they had a high value and I will still use free agents and Bosman deals as the main way to acquire talent but will now look for a few quality players to buy going for them instead of quantity. 

Im running into 2 big problems trying to acquire World Class talent and that’s Board only allowing max wage of $2.8m a year and that’s too low for any stars and changing budget from transfer to wage still doesn’t increase it so players don’t want to take less going to a smaller club.

The 2nd problem is the damn work permits since Brexit. There are so many free agents/cheap young talent from Italy, France, Spain or Brazil/Argentina but can only sign ones with a bunch of international team caps which is rare to find in young high potential players so it’s been challenging and frustrating but keeps it from getting too easy.

As for Ghana finally played non friendlies as we won a two leg playoff to secure a group spot in WC qualifying. Qualifying starts with 2 games and group isn’t easy as it looks. I’m worried about S.Africa and also Senegal being a dark horse.

-“ Not too bad a first year in EPL finishing 9th when board expected us to battle against relegation. No trophies for the year and just missing out on a European spot was tough . Odd I won EPL Manager of year yet Board expectations have me in the yellow?? D.Solanke did great leading league in goals and J.Asoro got the player of the year. To push for European spot I’m going to need to stop mainly using Bosman signings and spend some money if I can get some signed without work permit denied message killing transfers... No job offers at all which is disappointing as I’m probably going to need to resign to get any ...“

I did leave after winning EPL and getting Stadium for a 3rd tier French club and was going to bring them to division 1 and battle PSG giants ... But bugs have ruined save.

Well sadly bugs have killed the save .. After winning EPL I left for a division 3 French club called La Mans and they are in bottom tier and wanted to stop PSG run of a bunch of titles in division 1 .... Wanted to see how old club does and stadium n all at Solihull Moors. I could also broaden my player base since no work permits like UK had since Brexit it was 1/20 transfers get approved..

So I start at new club and can’t believe in the info it has Future stadium DirectFX Arena which was supposed to be Solihull Moors Stadium ... I vacationed and the Stadium never built just had stuck in Future stadium and it disappeared from Solihull Moors Info ... 

After that I also kept getting reports from scouts about new team but the players would all be Solihull Moor players so just frustrated with the bugs and they weren’t the first and just sucked out the fun so it’s done..
