I bet we all have goalkeepers we have had at the club for fifteen seasons or so that barely played a game. The sadness of being a reserve keeper.

Getting paid thousands a week to get the best seats in the house with absolutely no responsibility?  That's my dream job.

I always have one, but never use them.  Can't bring myself you have a bench without one

Who was the English keeper who was at Man City for years and never played? I think he finally got released last year as in the end he wasn't even training.

Richard Wright. £350K a year, never played from 2012 to last year!

Only for the big cup finals do I even contemplate it. Other than that I try to aim to have 1 defender (as versatile as possible), 2 central midfielders, 2 wingers, an attacking midfielder and a striker on my bench.

Richard Wright!  What a legend.  Redefined 'stealing a living'

So next question.

Would you all rather earn 350k a year but never play or earn 100k a year and play 200 games for a lower league team?

with my football skills £350K and never play is the only option :P

I never tend to as it's  so rare I don't see the point. Goalkeepers are probably the least likely to get injured and why not have a solid bench for when a more common injury could strike?

My usual bench is:

1. CB

2. Fullback

3. CM

4. CM

5. RW

6. LW

7. ST

So many knobheads actually spend time picking a bench, such amateurs :P

Subs are basically auditioning for a starting spot every chance they get minutes on the pitch. Being potential future starters they deserve to be treated with a little more respect ;)

Myself and @Ashez the only people with any sense on this site. Long live the assistant.

Ahh, in that case less credit to the two of you and more to the assistant :P

Almost never as I usually manage quite large squads and need to fit both impact players and rotators on the bench. Still to experience an in-game injury to a keeper in the latest two versions of FMM, so fingers crossed it'll continue.

Typically they're always Assman related ;)

I think most men can make a decision between the 2 and I'm sure this is one occasion that Sam will give a s**t.

The only time Sam gives that is when he's been out for dinner ;)

I always rotate keepers. Typically keep 2 first team keepers with a large age gap, so I'll eventually phase the older one out.
