RULES

• Load up Spain and any other countries you like.
• Become manager of Barcelona.
• You must first buy in a Brazilian striker to start the challenge.
• You have one season with each nominated Number 9 before they are demoted or Sold, never to play first team football again.
• You must follow the list below to sign a new Number 9 each season from country of birth, these players must be bought in at the start of each season.
• To make this challenge tougher I have set a limit on the transfer fee for each Number 9!
• Ronaldo - BRA - Max Fee - £5m
• Anderson - BRA - Max Fee - £7.5m
• Kluivert - HOL -Max Fee - £10m
• Eto'o - CAM - Max Fee - £12.5m
• Krkic - SPA - Max Fee - £15m

• Suarez - URU - Max Fee - £22.5m
• Each season your Number 9's goals will become your total.
• In total, 8 seasons with 8 players to post the highest combined total of goals.

LETS GET THE PARTY STARTED 

STRIKER 1/8 - 5 MILLION BRAZILIAN

I underestimated how hard this first selection was going to be, but this is a challenge after all! 

We bring in forgotten man Jo who was once on the books of Manchester City. 

He cost us 4.5 million, so within our limits, I opted for experience rather than bringing in  young talent purely because I need a one season wonder and instant results. 

Stay tuned for our formation, I sacrificed the Barca way to suit Jo, Tiki-Taki no more!

JO INSPIRED TACTICS 

As you will see we are playing Jo as a solo striker with Suarez and Messi having to adopt a more creative role as AP’s in the wide positions. 

I planned on selling both but nobody would take them, I couldn’t risk an unhappy squad so they’ll have to adapt. 

With Jo favouring the target man role I’ve asked the lads to get early crosses into the box for him to capitalise on. 

MID JANUARY UPDATE 

37 goals in 34 goals is good going for a striker who has never been prolific anywhere he’s played. He’s relishing the lone striker role and getting plenty service. 

Long may it continue, aiming for at least 60 before the season ends. 

The new style of play isn’t pretty and our league form has suffered as a result, but remember, this is a player challenge and as long as we don’t get sacked and Jo scores goals I’m a happy man. 

6 defeats in 21 isn’t good going but if you look at the goals, Jo has contributed to 21 of our 40 league goals, incredible considering Suarez and Messi are still in the side.

END OF SEASON UPDATE 

We fell short of our 60 goal target which I put down to a couple of injuries in the latter part of the season. 

46 goals in 50 matches is a still a great return for a 4.5 million signing. I learned a lot this season about what works and what doesn’t and this will hopefully see us improve on the goal tally for our next striker

Jo raked in the honours winning Best Player  in Europe, La Liga Player of the Year. He was also in the La Liga Team of the Year and World Best XI 

As for the team we finished 3rd in La Liga, disappointing and ironically this is the worst I’ve ever performed in FM18, despite Barca being the best team I’ve managed. 

Our saving grace was winning the Champions League, Jo instrumental in our success with 9 goals in 9 matches. 

OTHER TRANSFERS

It’s time for an emotional farewell to Jo and for us to replace him with our next Brazilian.

GOODBYE JO - HELLO LEANDRO 

Europe’s Best Player earns a move to the Premier League, moving on to Spurs for 10 million pounds. 

 I had all the same options available to me as I did last time, since this is another Brazilian. 

Leandro Damiao is another Target Man with experience and I’ll be hoping he delivers. 

Although we had 7.5 million to spend he was the best player available to us and 2.5 million is a steal. He was my second target, I did try to sign Alexandre Pato but could not get him for within this valuation.

Expect big changes to the rest of my squad as I aim to improve the teams creativity. 

The next update will focus on a new tactic, our learnings from last season and summer transfer update.
