Hole 11 - White Dogwood (Par 4)

Many golfers make the mistake of thinking this is a relatively straight-forward hole from the off, which is also one of the reasons why it's statistically one of the hardest on the course. Just like the course itself, this challenge looks simple, but the targets are very tough to hit, especially seen as the squad will need some serious work from the depleted bunch that finished season 12.

Challenge - Team must keep as many league clean sheets as possible in one season.

Birdie - 30+ clean sheets

Par - 20-29 clean sheets

Bogey - 10-19 clean sheets

Double Bogey - 9 or less clean sheets

Found my love for the game again! Second update of the day. After the last couple of seasons I’m heading into this hole full of confidence. 13 goals against in two seasons is a brilliant omen and I’m confident I’ve got this hole cracked.

Transfers

Away go the majority of the squad from last season, bringing in a cool £300m in transfer money. There’s a few of the lads still rotting in thenreserves unfortunately, Lemar included.

And in come £300m worth of new signings. Key positions were restored with some talented youth players who will hopefully become vital cogs in the squad for the foreseeable future.

Bringing it back up slowly but surely. Four 20’s on the board with domestic bias up 8 points on last season.

Near on perfect, with just the league cup missing this year. An unbeaten league campaign once again with just 7 goals conceded means we had a minimum of 31 clean sheets which is enough for yet another birdie!

We end up with 32 clean sheets and it’s two more than we needed, although it is two less than my personal record from a coupe seasons ago.

Hole Total: -1

Running Total: -10

Another hole, another birdie and I find myself in double digits under par for the challenge. I was always confident on this hole as I’ve got a tactic built for clean sheets even though on paper it looks attacking as anything!

Hole 12- Golden Bell (Par 3)

Here we go then - the hole which sees more meltdowns than the Stadium of Light sees every season. This nightmare of a hole is guarded by a lake and several bunkers around it, as well as a sloped green, and when the wind is howling most players are pleased to keep the damage down to a minimum. So as you'll now expect, the challenge that awaits you managers is not particularly pleasant, even if it is just for half a season.

 Challenge - From the previous season you must sell your best GK, defender, midfielder and striker (Av.R wise) and replace them with a Chinese player. If there aren't enough Chinese players on the database you'll have to do without a replacement. Must not lose any game in all competitions until Jan.15.

Birdie - 0 or 1 lost

Par - 2 lost

Bogey - 3 lost

Double Bogey - 4 or more lost

So I’ll be losing the best players from the spine of the team for the next challenge, and on top of that I have to replace them with Chinese players from the 7 I have available on the database, plus I have to go unbeaten for half a season! Jeez, not asking for much is it

I’ve had to sign three Chinese replacements for this next hole 😮 1 GK, 1 CB & 1 ST. Only have 7 on the database and none are central midfielders. The strikers doing alright but the defender looks terrible 😂

A nice half season challenge here where I have to first get rid of the best players through the spine of the team. Unfortunate, but needs must as they say. Here’s the ones who I’ll have to get rid of...

Carvalho de Oliveira:

Remeber that keeper I had upfront for two seasons? This is him now, and it’s probably the biggest loss in this challenge as he would have been my number one for most likely the rest of this career. An absolute beast of a keeper and has no doubt had a hand in our excellent defensive run of late.

Joe Gomez:

Needs no introduction. One of the best defenders on the game this year but unfortunately we must say goodbye

Patrick Fabien:

Not such a reluctant one to let go but will still be a bit of a loss to the team overall. Had high ambitions for him to replace Dele Alli in the middle, but alas, he must go

Abdi Melville:

Brought in thinking he was a Bale regen, turns out he wasn’t and I’m happy to offload him the fraud

So there we have the four players leaving us, and now I’ll introduce you to the Chinese players replacing them..

In goal we have a this superstar who will no doubt lead us to glory!

In defence we have this god, with a whole arsenal of technical abilities, there’s no doubt he will be a key man on this hole!

And in attack we have this man! Who actually doesn’t look too bad 😂

Unfortunately for you, but fortunate for me, there were no midfielders available so I’ve had to make do without!

Squad Appearances:

As you can see, the Chinese played a big part in the season with all three playing at least 25 games! So no injuries for them, which was great 😐

The Chinese Trio:

Let’s have a look at how the trio got on for us this season..

Played in 26 games and conceded just 15 goals, so that defence is still solid even with that *brilliant* Chinese defender. Speaking of him...

25 games, with 1 assist and just 2 yellow cards is a disciplined display from this superstar, and his attributes have developed ever so slightly to resemble a prime Maldini.

I’m actually impressed with this lad, he’s developed quite well and he performed to an above average standard so I’ll be keeping an eye on him for a future hole!

Manager Profile & Season History:

Profile looks ok considering, and as you can see, we went unbeaten in the league up to the January 15th mark. But how did we get on in the other competitions?

August:

A perfect start to the hole with a 100% record

September:

We carry on that trend into September! Great going so far

October:

Napoli takes our first points of the season, but it’s ok as it was a draw. We march on

Novemeber:

There she is! Our first loss of the season against Celta Vigo, and that means we cannot lose another game for the rest of the challenge

December:

We go through the Christmas period unscathed, just a few games in January to play. With PSG being on the 15th of January!!

January:

We come out the other side smelling of roses and another birdie in the back pocket! Superb from the lads, but the AI management at this stage is just absolutely buggered 😮

It was great to come out of this unscathed once again, and with the next hole a very achievable Eagle I’m buzzing to get this challenge completed! It’s a two season challenge so it may take a day or two but this is what awaits me on hole 13...

I already hear you all thinking "A nice pleasant two season challenge to repair the damage after season 14". Completely and utterly wrong (which you probably expect by now), in fact it's entirely the opposite.

Challenge - First season you have to win as many trophies you can, but they must be retained the second season to count at the end. Failure to win one in the first season means you can't go for it the second season.

Eagle - 5+ trophies

Birdie - 4 trophies

Par - 3 trophies

Bogey - 2 trophies

Double Bogey - 0 or 1 trophy

Here we are, the final hole of Amen corner. A huge two seasons is required from me, where at the end I hope to produce an Eagle and go in complete control for the final few holes. As it’s two seasons, there’ll be two updates, and here is season one for you guys..

Slowly replenishing my aging squad with some younger and better players. Tom Janssen is a Hazard regen I think, so getting him for free was a juicy bonus.

Squad Appearances 

Suffered with injuries this year unfortunately, especially with the attacking players so that is something I’ll have to keep my eye on as I don’t want that to derail my attempt.

There we have it, a clean sweep in season one means we are eligible for a clean sweep in season two. All I need to do is win five trophies for the Eagle that I’m so desperately craving.

So after the first season you all know that I am eligible to compete for seven trophies this time around. Only five are needed for an Eagle however, so I headed into this one full of confidence that I could get the job done.

Emphatically win our third with a 6-1 drubbing of América, this one secured Par for us!

Easily dispatched Rennes to secure Birdie, and with three trophies left to play for the Eagle is inevitable

French Cup:

And there she is! I’m ruthless fashion too. 5-1 against Troyes in the final sends us 13 under par for this challenge! 😁

There we have it, another clean sweep to more than comfortably secure the Eagle!!🦅

That’s right, Liyú Gao makes a return to the side! He was part of the squad a couple of holes ago and I was very impressed with him then so it was a no brainer to get him back in. Anselmo Barrera joins from Burnley for a huge £60million so there’s a lot of expectation on his head.

35 from 35, a goal a game after an injury hit campaign is not a bad total, it just leaves Gao with a lot of work to do.... 35/70 goals

Liyú Gao:

Thankfully that was it for the season for him!

Great physicals and makes a hell of a target man I must say..

😳😳😳 Gao smashed it! 52 goals in 54 games with 22 assists on top of that!

They hit the magical 70 in early March too, so they didn’t make me sweat despite the injuries

Par - 40 assists

 Bogey - 20 assists

Double Bogey - 19 or less assists

A long ass two season challenge, thankfully it’s the last Par 5 on the course and it’s a tough one too! Especially as I never use AMC’s! 😮

Hole 15 - Firethorn (Par 5) - Part One

Firethorn is one of the most famous holes at Augusta and is probably one of the easiest as well with the green make-able in 2 shots. In FMM terms, this is a great opportunity to gain back some much needed momentum going into the final three seasons.

Challenge - Buy a North American AMC who must get as many assists in 2 seasons as possible in all competitions.

Eagle - 80 assists

Birdie - 60 assists

Par - 40 assists

Bogey - 20 assists

 Double Bogey - 19 or less assists

So after asking @samhardy what was the minimum required shade of green in the AMC posistion, he swiftly answered “Full on f***ing luminous light green” so that left me a choice of two players, an American with a teamwork rating of 2, or a Costa Rican with a Teamwork rating of 6. I reluctantly went for the Costa Rican, and his name is David Alvarado

Fantastic technical attributes in all the right areas, his teamwork and stamina let’s him down but he’s “an expert in dead-ball situations” so that right there is assists galore as I’m not sure teamwork comes into effect on corners. End of the day he was the only liable choice for the challenge.

Transfers:

Just the three incoming this year, two young Frenchmen and our North American AMC.

Manager Profile & Season History:

Look at that bad boy! Just the two points off being perfect and with the rest of the challenges having hardly any restrictions I think this should be in the bag.

Missed out on the French Cup once again this season but we had a faultless campaign overall with a cracking league performance.

Now for the main event, how did our North American AMC get on?

David Alvarado:

 

A nice award and shows his quality by winning it.

The award was swiftly followed by an injury however! 😳

A hatrick of Assists in the first game of the season was a stunning start!

He had another two hatricks throughout the season! What a player! 

But wait, it gets better!

Boom was swiftly followed by another boom! A haul of Assists on two separate occasions! Yes the opposition AI is a mess at this stage but there’s no taking anything away from the lad. A real quality player despite his flaws.

Funnily enough I have him on a modified fitness regime and his technicals are holding up quite well on it whilst his stamina has risen to a nice blue. So what was his first season tally you ask?

Smashed.It.Out.The.Park! 53 assists is a massive return from him and if I can keep him fit next year then another Eagle is very much on the cards!
