I don't need to as I know it's Central America but since that isn't classed as a continent you can be let off ;)

Wow mate that’s a cracking first season with him. Just the 27 needed in season two. Injuries aside, that’ll be another eagle.

Cheers Rob! Most of the assists came from set-pieces so I’m happy I made that judgement call 😁

Hole 15 - Firethorn (Par 5) - Part Two

Spoiler

Firethorn is one of the most famous holes at Augusta and is probably one of the easiest as well with the green make-able in 2 shots. In FMM terms, this is a great opportunity to gain back some much needed momentum going into the final three seasons.

Challenge - Buy a North American AMC who must get as many assists in 2 seasons as possible in all competitions.

Eagle - 80 assists

Birdie - 60 assists

Par - 40 assists

 Bogey - 20 assists

Double Bogey - 19 or less assists

So you’ve seen in part one how our North American got on, he simply needs 27 assists for me to achieve a second consecutive eagle and send me 16 under par for the course.

Forgot to post my formation in part one so here it is.

E9E5EBF5-F860-4FA7-AA5E-DA8B1CE6CD6C.jpeg.3c83b9cfbf9590ee4c18588e3b7cea42.jpeg

Its basically my usual formation but with the AP pushed up to the AMC line.

A full set of 20’s! Now all I need is to maintain this for the final few holes of this challenge.

Nearly a perfect league campaign and very nearly a clean sweep too. Barcelona scrape past us in the European Super Cup, the first time we have failed to win that particular competition.

Finally let’s see how Alvarado got on...

David Alvarado:

😳😳😳 What happened?! Injuries is what happened, I could only squeeze 42 games out of him and the most of them he was unfit to play and shouldn’t have to be honest. However, his set piece delivery remained consistent as ever..

AE34EA5A-EFC1-44EA-BD62-6AAE7BA0D22D.thumb.png.bc70f91da045a843a4bb7c94369f9c99.png

And we cross the line with 10 assists more than we needed. A grand total of 90 assists over the two seasons is enough for the Eagle and I’m now a huge 16 under par for the course 😳

He managed to cross the line for us in early February before injury prevented him doing even more!

Hole Total: -2

Running Total: -16

So that is that, Hole 15 completed, let’s see what we have to deal with on Hole 16....

Spoiler

Hole 16 - Redbud (Par 3)

A very short hole but one that is played entirely over water. As long as you as managers don't do anything daft then you should be in with a reasonable chance for a birdie, but don't under-estimate the challenge of the hole either otherwise you'll be falling back yet again.

Challenge - In half a season (Jan.15) a centre back of your choice must score as many goals as possible in all competitions.

Birdie - 6+ goals

 Par - 4 or 5 goals

Bogey - 3 goals

Double Bogey - 0-2 goals

A nice half season challenge, our final par 3 of the course. Doesn’t look too difficult so long as I can choose the right player for the job.

Thanks for reading

Hole 16 - Redbud (Par 3)

Spoiler

Our final par 3 of the course, we are now on season number 20 of this marathon ride that we’ve been on. I think this is the deepest I’ve gone into any save on any FM game, so that is a nice personal accolade to have.

As for the centre back I’m nominating, he was actually at the club not long ago but I let him leave for Napoli. He makes his return to Monaco now, and he looks a decent player.

42DF31DE-34CE-4AF6-BDF4-EA84BC9C28DB.thumb.png.75b9ffcd6a02cff008e1b96249e986b7.png

Reasons for opting for him are simple really, he’s got a full 20 in technique which should come into effect when taking penalties and free kicks with his shooting at a decent 11. His Aerial rating of 17 should come good on corners where I hope he grabs a few goals from.

As for the formation, I’m sticking to my usual one but he will obviously be played as a BPD just to give him a little bit more attacking freedom. I’m not entirely sure how to get defenders to score from open play to be honest, so I’m relying heavily on set-pieces once again. He will also be on an attacking training regime to try and boost his shooting stat just that little bit more.

A penalty to kick things off. He had the opportunity from the spot in the European Super Cup against Chelsea but he fluffed it! So one month in and we have one goal, not a bad start.

Goal #2:

3D61F41B-671D-455F-90A3-9A2B0C12AA50.thumb.png.451f0d30de007717cf0f2d72f6f5c8e2.png

Nearly a full month later, but he gets his second from a free-kick. Two months in, two goals.

Goal #3:

A second penalty gives us his third goal and we’re only in October so we’ve plenty of time to grab three more.

Goal #4:

85C83084-8895-46BC-B39F-A74DEAD033ED.thumb.png.284991bf94620495e5c9886dad5fd0df.png

Another converted penalty, and we are still only in October. That’s par secured!

Goal #5:

AE727117-1F3A-4058-B8ED-A020644874DD.thumb.png.0e205968e21fc0bf31cf206008ff1678.png

Three goals in October! What a month for our defender, this one came from a corner so we’ve nearly got the full set 😁

Goal #6:

323D9262-BC2D-45D8-8DCF-D300F6F6CA43.thumb.png.7b9ee6e420f7260b89fdd96f05c038be.png

He wraps it up with another goal against Wolfsburg, another header from a corner is enough to secure Birdie in early November with plenty of time left to spare! What a player

Lets see how he looks at the halfway stage..

AAED17C0-73CE-41D3-BADA-680BBE99485D.thumb.png.7075ae94f5131758052690c7ecd5bb4b.png

So obviously a small improvement on his attacking attributes, nothing major but he looks a real quality player.

9F37CB5D-4269-4F98-B46E-391026103480.thumb.png.35f4f4483545d4a9f15a851112dc71a1.png

He managed 12 goals in the half season challenge 😳 with 10 assists on top of that. More than enough for the birdie obviously and it’s way more than I expected that’s for sure!

Season’s obviously not finished yet but we are still on track for a clean sweep of trophies. I’ll do a small update with the trophies won this year after I’ve finished the season!

Hole Total: -1

Running Total: -17

Finally let’s see what awaits me on Hole 17 - Season 21

Spoiler

Hole 17 - Nandina (Par 4)

Realistically, this will be the final chance to shape your score in a positive way because the final hole is a toughie. Typically this hole has been a mixed bag, it plays differently all the time. How will you go about it as you start the beginning of the end of this wonderful journey?

Challenge - Must buy any player age 35+ and that player must win as many Player of the Month awards as possible in one season.

Birdie - 3/4+ POTM

Par - 2 POTM

Bogey - 1 POTM

 Double Bogey - 0 POTM

A strange challenge to be honest, as from my experience, player of the month awards are totally random. You could have a player storm through the month but you’ll find an opponents player win it after having an average at best one. I can only do what I can, and if you offered me a bogey right now I’d bite your hand off for it!

Sounds easy enough doesn’t it? Think again. I couldn’t for the life of me get anyone of decent quality over the age of 35 to sign for the team due to a “planned retirement” I very nearly had to bite the bullet and sign a Goalkeeper, but an ambitious Belgian caught my eye and no it’s not @Titjes. His name is Marc Lahaye and he cost a whopping £1,000! Yes you read that right, he cost me a grand 😂

22F570C8-A393-41FC-8AC8-99E30B735187.thumb.png.d8ff45eecd42cdd89e0ca2f094e56548.png

He looks fucking dreadful, but he was the only option I’m afraid so ideally the target now is bogey. I had three options with him really, play him in a natural anchor role or go for a more advanced CM or AP. In the end I opted to play him as the CM of the side with him on all set piece duties to try and rack up as many assists as possible.

£160 million was spent this year, and there’s confirmation of the £1000 spent on Lahaye.

Still perfect on the Profile side of things. I had a plan this year where my first team would play all the league games and my reserve sides would play all the cup competitions, this was mainly to utilise the Belgian this year but it was also an experiment for the upcoming final hole to see how well I could do in the league to be honest.

We lose in the final of both domestic Cups as a consequence of this plan of mine but my league form was spot on so I’m ultimately not bothered about them.

Marc Lahaye:

So how did my Belgian oldie get on? Could he win a POTM award? First let’s take a look at his much improved attributes..

This is Gary Mepham, Gary robs old men of POTM awards. Don’t be like Gary 😡

Hole Total: +2

Running Total: -15

All in all a very disappointing hole, but I feel like there wasn’t anything I could do and it was completely out of my control which is the most frustrating part, as I was relying on the game to make the right decision over me in a sense. But hey, I’m still in a good position to top the leaderboard, so long as I don’t double bogey the final hole! A bogey would be enough to top the leaderboard so I’m not overly worried, but then you never know what this game can throw at you! Let’s have a look what awaits me on my final tee-off of this epic challenge....

Spoiler

Hole 18 - Holly (Par 4)

This is it, the end of the journey. Hole 18. Season 22 (if you've managed to keep your job). There are no places to hide in the final hole, nothing really fancy to it. Just give your all and hope for the best.

Challenge - Every league game you fail to win will cost you.

Birdie - 0-2 failed to win

Par - 3-5 failed to win

Bogey - 6-7 failed to win

Double Bogey - 8+ failed to win

This is why I used my first team in the league games. I dropped three games all season and that was with the Belgian in the side. So when I fill that midfield with a world class CM this hole should be in the bag. Wish me luck!!

Pretty sure I double bogeyed that one too, Nuke. There's little we can do there I think, just some luck needed with the player and how AI evaluates his performances.

It's your #1 spot to lose at this point.

This is it guys, the final update of this mammoth career I’ve been on. There’s no turning back now, a bogey will be enough to top the leaderboard, but the aim is birdie to really set a good score for the challenge leaderboard. League games are the only ones that matter this season so the reserves will be taking charge of all cup competitions.

Of bloody course we did! A birdie to finish the round, and a clean sweep of trophies to boot. That gives me a very respectable score of 16 under par and I’m absolutely delighted with that score, it should prove to be a tough one to beat if anyone decides to follow suit.

Final Thoughts:

There we have it then, top of the Augusta leaderboard but the biggest achievement of this challenge is actually completing it. Alongside @BatiGoal I’m only the second one to achieve it so I’m extremely happy about that. @samhardy you are a monster and I curse you to hell, but first can you put my name on the leaderboard please! 😁

Finally, I’d like to thank everyone who’s taken the time to read this and dropped a comment of support, without you guys I probably wouldn’t have finished it.

If anybody needs me I’ll be in the clubhouse sharing a bottle of red with @BatiGoal because we bloody well deserve it!
