Sam v Nucleus: A H2H Series

Hello vibe and welcome to something that both myself and @Nucleus hope will provide entertainment to both ourselves and you the viewers. This is a H2H however it won't just be one challenge that we will be taking on, in fact it will be a best of 7 challenge series that will test all aspects of management skills and at the end I will come out on top  we'll see who comes out on top and who can reach the magic number 4 challenge victories first!

It's no big secret that I have hated this year's edition of the game having only played one real save which was the successful Bayern TT/Woodburn 1K however I also enjoyed playing in the Vibe Premier League even if it did give me burn out from FMM. Recently however I've found myself with the itch to play again so I approached @Nucleus as what better way to get the motivation going than a competitive match up.

It's been quite the opposite year for my opponent however as he has absolutely tore up the rankings this year after completing numerous challenges, 1K's for fun and will most likely win manager of the year come the awards at the end of the lifespan of FMM18. Let's hear what he has to say about this H2H:

"It’s an absolute honour to be approached by Sam for this H2H, I consider him one of the best managers on the site and his number two ranking backs that up. His cockiness will most likely make him think this will be a white wash, but I’m not here to make up the numbers and I’m hoping to take a big scalp in this here H2H"

With the intro out the way let's have a look at what awaits us in the first challenge that is created by @Ashez:

An interesting first challenge that promises a high score from me and more than likely sub-par from Nucleus. It is a tough challenge but both of us fancy our chances going into it!

Well this looks like it could be interesting, and as much as I love Vibe's resident devil @samhardy I have to give my vote to my fellow countryman @Nucleus, so don't let the Welsh down mate, although you are in for some serious competition from your opponent

OK ok, I'm in extremely positive spirits today so let's give these two noobs the benefit of the doubt in that they're going to be worth my precious time. Now to whom my support leans to? Neither one to be honest so perhaps it's best to ask each one a simple question to determine which one is most likely to come out on top as the least disastrous of the two. People who know me have come to understand that my loyalty and support is earned the traditional way, so the one who answers their respective question the best and proves he's the most knowledgeable of the pair earns my vote. 👍 

 

Question for Sam: If Team A play a narrow 4-4-2 Vs Team B striking a balanced 3-5-2 and the game is a tight 0-0 with 5min left on the clock and both teams get 3 players sent off after a major brawl over an alleged misspelled tattoo in ancient Sanskrit language which again allegedly means coach Team A is a "poo face" a tattoo btw that, after extensive research, was paid for by coach Team B in a remote Asian mountain village only accessible by a 15km - approx 5h - hike thru dense forest, by an elderly village chief - whose name I can't disclose for safety reasons - , only a few days prior to said match, and Team A switches to a conservative 3-3-1 with a lone TM up front and Team B to a more aggressive 0-1-6 with single DLP in midfield for balance, who is most likely to come out on top? And why? 

Question for Nucleus: Champions League final. Big Crowd. Big Stage. 85min left to play + injury time. Basically only 5min missing of an otherwise complete match, much like myself returning from an extensive visit to the shitter missing the handshakes and other formalities prior to the ref's whistle, and both teams handling an entirely identical tactical set up. Only difference being striker Team A who accidentally misinterpreted a hand gesture from a fan in the crowd he'd clearly mistaken for his coach's and swapped his pre-determined Poacher role for a Defensive Forward one which caused the inevitable chain reaction A.K.A The Nuc Of Leus, causing LD Team B become a BPD then BBM Team A turning into a BWM resulting Team B going bananas swapping both W's as well as FB's for IF'sx4 and Team B responding with the Kamikaze of all Hail Marry attempts mutating SK to P btw this all in a space of 17 seconds.. Who's most likely to come out on top? And why?

@BatiGoal are we going to be treated to the endings of your stories? I feel like I've become emotionally attached to both and won't be able to perform to the best of my abilities in this H2H without knowing what happens in both tales.

Challenge One - North vs South

Hello Vibe and welcome to the first update of this H2H career between myself and @samhardy. For our first challenge we will be taking on this @Ashez inspired one which you can find here

As I won the coin toss I got to pick which region I wanted to represent and I hesitantly decided to go for the north of England and more specifically, Manchester United. I picked them mainly due to the fact I know the side inside and out and was hoping that knowledge alone would see me across the line. 

With some decent English players already at the club such as Rashford, Lingard & Shaw I had youth on my side, so I went out raiding the northern clubs for some much needed experience to add to this:

Out went all the non English players, barring De Gea whom I couldn’t sell but he was quickly demoted to the reserves and left there to rot 😢

So there we have my English side, i reluctantly paid £60m for Henderson who would also unfortunately captain the side, other than that it was a case of raiding Everton, Leicester & Burnley

Now let’s have a look how the new look Manchester United got on:

Cup games don’t matter in this challenge so the reserves were quickly despatched in the domestic cups, although they did go on and win the Champions League! Losing just the once in the league with a semi-decent goal difference I was quietly confident I’d done enough to take the win.

A decent total, and one that should take something special to beat! I’ll now pass you over to our hooligan Black Cat @samhardy for a rundown of his season: 

So @Nucleus has already explained the challenge we took on here and after he won the coin toss and elected for the North I felt that the only team that made any sense were the team that half the England national team gets their players from which is of course Tottenham.

Great players already at the club that are eligible for this challege such as Kane, Alli, Dier and the full-backs so I probably didn't need to do as much business as my opponent but let's see what occurred anyway:

All areas covered and whilst the South doesn't present as many options I was still pleased with what I managed to bring in here and the squad looked good 

Let's have a look at how the squad got on.

It's only the league that matters for this challenge so the kids went out in the cups yet we still got to a final. The league went very well and it would be rude to ask for more although dropping points against Bournemouth and Brighton whilst giving away a lead at City was frustrating. Overall a solid return and a good GD.

Both my keepers were injured at one point near the end of the season so a shadow player had to go in goal! Not a comfortable feeling when the opposition are attacking

A very good spread and Kane only played league matches and was out for about a month.

A good total for this first challenge, a few frustrating moments but couldn't have gone much better and hopefully it's enough to beat Nucleus and take the first win in this challenge.

 

It was enough to beat me too! Only just mind, and what a very close matchup that proved to be between myself and Sam, but as it stands he does go 1-0 up and goes within 3 of winning this H2H
