The Igor Akinfeev Clean Sheet Challenge

On November 11th 2017, Igor Akinfeev celebrated the end of one of the Champions League’s most unwelcome records by finally keeping a clean sheet in the competition for the first time in 11 years as CSKA Moscow beat Benfica 2-0.

The Russian international goalkeeper had conceded a goal in his previous 43 Champions League matches, excluding qualifiers, an ignominious spell stretching back to a game with Arsenal in November 2006.

Yet the 31-year-old at last ended the miserable run as Moscow earned their first home win of the campaign to keep their hopes of reaching the knockout stages flickering while shattering Benfica’s chances.

“Of course, we congratulated him after the match,” said CSKA coach Viktor Goncharenko. “All of the lads tried their best in the last part of the game to close any gaps and make sure Igor kept that clean sheet!”

The Challenge

Simple, keep as many clean sheets as possible in the 43 Champions League games.

The challenge ends after your 43rd game in the competition.

Nice to see a FMH legend getting some love, on the PSP he was the go to keeper as he was cheap and reliable. I've found him rather irritating the few times I've used him in ios versions though tbh.
