Tactics When Harry Met Sané (1-3-4-2) - EME

Hello Vibe and welcome to a little tactic post I have for you guys. I’m not normally one to post tactics in a stand-alone thread, as I usually just post the relevant tactic at the end of a career thread. This one however is different. It may be an absolute game breaker to be honest, and I’d very much like any of you guys to test it further if any are interested. 

So first off, let’s have a look at what this tactic is capable of...

Results:

This was the first season totals, a huge 280 goals scored. By far the most I’ve scored in a single season in any FMM game.

172 Premier League goals is no mean feat. Yes, the defence could be better but who cares about that when you’re averaging 4.5 goals Scored per game. 

So that was the first season, now let’s see how the second season went...

Not as dominant, but with the extra competitions we were involved in it balances out i suppose.

Looking at the the Manager Profile for season two shows we scored 279 goals throughout the season, which is only one goal less than season one, so goal-scoring wise it’s consistent, although we did end up conceding a bit more in season two.

Season Two Fixtures:

As you can see there’s some huge scorelines in there, so if it’s goals you’re after with no afterthought for the defence, this is the tactic for you. 

Finally, let’s have a look at what you’ve all been waiting for...

Formation:

There she is! In all her glory, Ladies and Gentlemen I present to you the “When Harry met Sané” 

A single central defender may be daunting at first, and I agree that using this with a poor team would be catastrophic so I only recommend that you use an elite side when using this. For player suggestions, the only thing I can say is make sure you have a fast CB, I use Aymeric Laporte and rotate him with John Stones, both of these players have a pace rating of 15+ Other than that, use your own initiative when buying the players, make sure you have a couple of “jack of all trades” on standby, as it will heavily knock on your squads fitness due to the high demanding roles. These player roles have never been changed, and remain a constant throughout the season, something I can’t say about the instructions as they do change depending on opponent, which I’ll go into now.

Tactical Shape:

These are the basic tactical shape instructions. I do however depending on opponent change mentality from control to attack and sometimes even to overload, but very rarely do I venture that far. Width, Tempo and Creative Freedom I never touch and they remain the same throughout.

Defensive Instructions:

I have tinkered with this but have settled on these instructions as the most consistent. High line with an offside trap seems to work well, and with just a single CB in the defence that trap should theoretically be successful fairly often. I have used “All Over” closing down to great success but found that the opponents were scoring quite freely when this was on.

Attacking Instructions:

Again, these are the starting instructions that I use, but these are the ones I switch around the most. Playing against a defensive minded team and struggling to break them down? Then switch passing to “Direct” and turn on “shoot on sight”. Or you could even turn on “run at defence” to try and draw defenders out to free up space for any one of your six attacking players.

And that’s it. A career is inbound featuring this tactic and I will link it when that is available. Any questions, feel free to ask. Further testing by someone would be fantastic as I’d like to see other people’s interpretation of the tactics requirements.

Now that is something I can’t reveal as of yet. That’s part of the career so I don’t want any spoilers as of yet. All I can say is that it’s good!

Ok here’s my results mate

I used the same format for every team

• Start save place tactic in place
• holiday until first league game
• let the AI pick the squad
• play until the team won
• only made subs for injuries 
• changed teams and repeated 

Heres the fixture list of every team in Italian Seria B

Thanks mate. I’ve never played with more than two defenders this year tbh. It’s usually two cb’s with two advanced wingbacks either side 😂 why have an extra defender when you can have an extra forward 😉

I’ve had several people test it privately and they’ve all said that their getting good results, so I’d like to see your interpretation of the tactic before calling me out

And to be honest I post careers because I like to, Ive had consistent results across the whole edition of FMM18, now cheating which you are accusing me of is something I’ve never considered doing as to be honest I’m not sad enough to juggle a work life/being a parent and posting decent (I think) careers on here for everyone to read.

It sounded like you were to be honest. If you’ve read my career instead of just jumping on the “I’m not getting as good results so he must be cheating” bandwagon then you’ll clearly see me state that I’ve changed the tactic several times over the course of the career, and I’ll be happy to show which changes I’ve made at the end of said career. Now in my honest opinion, is Kaziah Sterling a fair representation of Harry Kane as Target man? Not really, I’ve built that tactic from scratch to play to the strengths of the players I wanted in the team, and I’m still adjusting it season by season depending on transfers. End of the day you can think what you like as I’m happy enough knowing that the people who have commented on the career are enjoying it.

Think of it what you want, end of the day I was 4 seasons in before I decided I was going to post the damn thing so why would I rig the start of the career when I then know I’d have to do it for god knows how many seasons? Honestly, I have not got time for it
