Season 2

Transfers:

The majority of the players who are out on loan in the first season were sold upon their return to the club, that raised a decent sum of £120 million just from unwanted players which I was obviously thrilled with. Especially as I needed to invest some cash into my wage budget after the spending in the first season.

Five new players make their arrival at the club. Diawara and Lemar commanding the biggest fees, but the arrival of Marcus Rashford from neighbours Man Utd is what is certain to turn heads. Available through the transfer list, I couldn’t resist picking him up for the bargain fee of £56m. Heung-Min Son joins the club to link up with Harry Kane again, and Oliver Burke gets that big club itch and joins us from West Brom.

Season History:

A clean sweep once again as we continue our 100% trophy record. Slight drop in league goals this season as we could only manage 156 this time round. Still a fantastic figure though.

The Double Trouble

Leroy Sané:

Averaging a goal a game last season, could Sané capitalise on his new natural position and catch up ever so slightly to Kane?

The answer is no! 8 goals shy of last seasons total but he played 3 more games. So I’m putting it down to overplaying which is my fault, hopefully he rediscovers his form next season.

Harry Kane:

One of the sweetest looking pages I’ve seen this year, with greens across the board could he top his 92 goals from last season?

Course he could, smashes the 100 goal mark with a sweet 101 total for the season, and it’s turning into the Harry Kane show as he goes nearly 100 clear of Sané in the career after just two seasons! He really was on form this year and justified his price tag with some scintillating displays of attacking football.

I would have liked to throw someone on the Assists challenge, but they’re so well scattered I can’t decide who. Your thoughts on this guys?

Well, I'm gobsmacked! Those number are huge! And for 2 players! Fantastic stuff mate, I'm truly in awe!

Maybe I need to play with some crazy tactics too. I have moved from 4 3 2 1 to a 1 CB formation and it's okay, but will likely experiment more now.

Decent numbers, it’s trying to balance them out that’s the problem! Thanks Scratch, you should definitely experiment more with a one CB formation, surprising what can work

Season 3

Transfers:

So off went City legends Sergio Agüero, David Silva & Vincent Kompany this summer. Their time in a City shirt was up and I was happy to receive some sort of money for a couple of them.

Three new faces arrive at the Etihad. Milinkovic-Savic arrives to partner De Bruyne in that double AMC spot, Belotti comes in to deputise for Harry Kane and Nadiem Amiri comes in as our new right winger and pushes Sterling onto the bench. Amiri is currently being used by @Foxy as part of a Triple Challenge, I highly suggest you go over and read that one as he’s very nearly over the line with a 1k! 

Manager Profile:

3 seasons in and we’ve nearly hit a 1000 goals already! That should be done in season 4 without fail.

Season History & Fixture List:

Clean sweep yet again, and also we hit our highest league goals total yet with 174 league goals. A total I can very happily live with.

Some huge scorelines in there, I’m going to try and tinker with it so it’s a bit stronger defensively for season 4. There were too many “close” games in there for my liking and a lot of wins almost felt lucky.

The Double Trouble

Harry Kane:

An absolute machine. No doubting his credentials anymore, he’s the real deal. Could he come close to his 100+ season from last time out? Could be better it?

He betters it! Consecutive 100+ seasons for Kane as part of a Strike Partnership. But, this ain’t good as that means unless Sané has had a rocket of a season he’ll be further behind again!

Leroy Sané:

Slight drop in some places, tackling and positioning to be precise, but still nobody likes to see that orange on the board. He looks quality to be fair though.

He betters last season, but it’s still two short of his first season. 57 goals is still a great total though and 161 between the pair for the season is a number I can live with. Neither have had any significant injuries as of yet, but it’s inevitably going to happen. They’ve missed the odd game here and there due to fatigue but that’s about it.

The attacking midfielders are scoring way too many for my liking, so likenthe many other changes I’m looking to make that is another one.

Squad Assists:

Nadiem Amiri tops the assists chart on his debut season. De Bruyne is always there or thereabouts. I’m happy with the split of it to be honest as 10 years down the line I can really see who’s performed well and who I can choose to put on the assists chart, if there is anybody that is.

Career Totals:

Look at that! I’d like to thank @Foxy for this sweet little graphic he’s provided me with, its much appreciated mate!

So 464 goals in three seasons, more or less a quarter of the way there. So if my maths is any good I make that around 12/13 seasons in total which I did state in an earlier post. So it’s nice to see we are on track for the 2k, it’s just a matter of finding the right balance for the goals now to try and get Sané back in the mix.

Sorry about the delay lads, I’ve been pretty busy these last couple of days, but I’ve got a double update for you right now! Yes you heard correctly, I will be updating you with Harry and Sané’s exploits in season four & season five.

Season 4

Transfers:

Oliver Burke and Ilkay Gündogan make the switch to Wembley as they join fellow premier league side Spurs. Kyle Walker makes “that” switch to cross town rivals Manchester United, whilst Danilo moves to Borussia Dortmund for more first team football than I could guarantee him here. Bersant Celina completes the outgoing transfers by joining Werner Bremen on a free transfer.

Just the single signing this summer. Portuguese wonderkid Renato Sanches joins the side for a nice round sum of £100million. Fairly versatile as he can play anywhere between defensive midfield and attacking midfield. He’ll be slotting straight into the squad as a starter.

Manager Profile & Season History:

Four seasons down and we have hit over a 1000 team goals already, a blistering record so far, we’re conceding around 1.5 goals per game on average so that’s something I definitely have to keep my eye on for the future, especially if it turns into losing games that could hinder the amount of games playable, we want Kane and Sané on the pitch as often as possible so winning games is vital to that.

Unbeaten league season, coupled with winning all but one of the trophies available is a very good season. Still scoring plenty of goals, but losing the FA Cup final to Chelsea 6-3 was a bit of a kick in the knackers.

We had a fantastic season last time out, now was the time to really push on with this though. Sané needed more goals and I was certain that I’d cracked the way to get them which I will reveal at a later date.

Harry Kane: 

At the peak of his career, 27 years old means he’s getting on a bit for a 1k but I’m fairly certain he can play until around 37/38 years old. So that’s effectively 10 more years from him. I hope.

Drop in goals this season for Kane, down to 86 for the season. Could that be a blessing in disguise however? Let’s find out.

Leroy Sané:

It certainly was! Sané matches Kane’s 86 goals with 86 beautiful goals himself, and just like that he’s right back in the game

Sané tops the assists chart this season which means he was involved in a huge 114 goals throughout the year. Really impressed with how he kicked on this season, I just hope he can keep at it. Let’s have a look at their totals courtesy of @Foxy

Great stuff so far, I’m hoping to just keep at it for a few seasons and the re-assess when I need to. At the moment I’m more than happy that they’re consistently hitting around 150 between them.

Season 5

Transfers:

Moves being made this season 😮 Benjamin Mendy and Nany Dimata have had enough of warming the bench, so off they went for pastures new. Dimata has become an outcast and both Kane and Sané hated him so I was glad to finally get an offer for him. If you’ve not noticed already, at the bottom of the screen you’ll see that Kevin De Bruyne has moved to Spurs in a part exchange deal. Who the hell have I bought from Spurs that would make me swap De Bruyne?

Ryan Sessegnon of course! Listen, I got Pogba on a free transfer, De Bruyne had a bit of a hissy fit, and he’s just turned 30 so I thought “let’s invest in youth!” 

So yeah, two free transfers this season in the mould of Paul Pogba and Ryan Sessegnon. Not sure why I got Pogba as he’s a bit of a luxury buy that I dont really want near the first team as he’s no doubt going to rob goals if he is. So reserves it is for young Pogba, whilst Sessegnon takes his rightful place on the left wing.

Nearly 1.5k goals 😮

We return to winning ways with a clean sweep. Lost a league game which bugged me a little bit, but we’re still banging goals in so I guess it’s ok.

Small drop again by Kane! 83 this time although he did suffer injury this season which hampered his game time unfortunately. 83 is still a great total however and I’m happy with the progress he’s making.

Leroy Sané:

Drop in goals for Sané too! 10 less than last season as he hits 76. Still his second best season for the club however so I can’t complain. No injuries this season from Sané unlike Kane but I think I over played him so then towards the back end of the season he wasn’t fit to play certain games. An error on my part unfortunately.

Nadiem Amiri, take a bow. 44 assists out of nowhere from the German! There’s no wonder @Foxy decided to use him in his Assists challenge, of which you can find here.

Finally let’s see our Double Trouble total after Season Five!

So nearly halfway for Kane after five seasons, which is well on course of his 1k target. Sané’s exploits these past couple of years has pulled him back into the game too at 329 goals. A grand total of 795 goals between the pair is a total I’m very very happy with at this point. Season 6-7–8 have been played but it won’t be updated until @Foxy is back from his mini holiday, which is fine by me as it gives me a break from writing too, hence the double update today.

This is going so great, well done mate! I don't think you have to worry about the slight drop off, back on target next year (though I guess you actually know whether that's true or not, so hurry up and post the next updates. 🙂).

As for the players, I signed Amiri in my current season too. I'd been eyeing him for a while, but the numbers he was getting in @Foxy's career made me pull the trigger on him.  So far haven't got him to that level, but still have hopes. Will be really interested in how you get on with Pogba - I've never had much luck with him (he scores too much for me. Hope you keep him in his place! 😄

Fantastic numbers so far, Kane is a monster this year. Don't worry about his age, he was a world class player for whole 12 seasons in my DT(then Dybala retired)

Season 6

Transfers:

Incoming transfers first off this time. Mateo Kovacic comes in for a huge sum of £110m in the hope that he’d provide some more assists over goals to the current lot of midfielders I had. Ousmane Dembélé and Leon Bailey come in on free transfers. I had no plan to use them as they’re both selfish but I was hoping to make a nice profit on them.

Which I did. On Bailey anyway, nobody came in for Dembélé so he’s just chilling in the reserves. Donny Van De Beek joins him in going to Real and Heung-Min Son makes the move to Swansea City for his twilight years.

Manager Profile & Season History:

Profile looking healthy with nearly 2000 goals scored now. We return to clean sweep ways by winning everything in our path and scoring a tidy 165 league goals.

The Double Trouble

Harry Kane:

Pushing into his 30’s now but I’ve been told by @JohnyBravo not to worry about Kane’s age as he still looked the bomb in his double trouble career at 37 years old. So going by that I have at least 7 seasons left with him.

Kane hits 90+ this season. 9 more goals than last time out. Still to hit another 100+ season with him which I would like to do one more time before the career is out. 92 takes his total to 558 goals for the career though and that is over halfway which is ok at this point I think.

Leroy Sané:

Sané hit 76 last time out which is a number I was happy with. I’d really like him to push on from now though and hopefully be the one scoring the most out of the two.

He managed 77 this time out. One more goal than last season but it was in four more games, so his strike rate isn’t as good unfortunately. Still a great total though and it takes him up to 406 goals for the career.

Sané tops the charts this year. Would like him to be more selfish so I may change him to play as a poacher rather than an advanced forward just to see how that pans out. Amiri still there or thereabouts with 33 for the season.

Nearly 1000 between them in just six short seasons. I’d like to be able to hit around 180 at some point but I’m finding the AM’s scoring way too many goals for my liking. Milinkovic-Savic and Bernardo Silva Scored a combined 48 between them this season so that is definitely goals I’d like to see turned into assists, all about trying to find the right balance I guess.

Kinda interested with what you do to remove Silva and Savic’s goals as both, IIRC, have quite high teamwork? I guess they are the collateral damage of having a high-scoring formation.

Cheers lads, as for the AM goals issue I’m at a crossroads. I’ve experimented with AP’s and they score more than an AM which makes no sense. I’ve tried treq’s to no avail and I’ve experimented with changing the lone CM’s role. After all the experiments I always come back to the original tactic which is the one I posted on the forums. So like you say @Rob2017 it’s just the collateral that comes with such a formation. Both forwards are probably being marked out the game which gives the AM’s a free run of things! I’m going to try playing down both wings for a couple months to see what results that brings.

Thanks Ash, it really is the most goal heavy tactic I’ve created in any FM game! The amount of goals scored is just ridiculous. I’m just worried now that Kane may have been to old for a 1k in a two striker formation 😢
