Wonderfull work @Scratch ;)

Did Pinamonti score all INT goals for you?

If so, you can put yourself on this leaderboard :)

Thanks mate! I took over Italy with 33 goals on the clock, so I've got another 30 to go. Should be achievable I think and I didn't know about that, so thanks! 😄

Update - Season 13/14 - Calendar Year

Pinamonti's calendar year record (so far) is 115 goals in Season 11/12. Can he beat it this time around?

Club Goals

Pinamonti starts the year with only 24 club goals (after injury and a slow start to season 13):

pinamonti-season13-12.jpg.b541f829be4d13cc230f80e4d23fe00f.jpg

Then gets a massive 54 goals in the first half of the year (78-24), followed by 47 in the second half of the year:

pinamonti-season13a-02.jpg.9159e10852a4c7c0b943dea01824bb70.jpg

Making it a total of 101 club goals.

ITN Goals

He starts with 193 goals:

pinamonti-season13-11.jpg.13eb664f90f625f1dfeb20b83a588665.jpg

And finishes the year with 212 goals:

pinamonti-season13a-01.jpg.a46d366b4e55edc77e9908be2dcf0e37.jpg

Making it a total of 19 ITN goals this year.

Total For The Calendar Year

Club Goals 101
ITN Goals   19
TOTAL: 120

A massive year! I think it's enough to go to the top of the leaderboard, although I won't be surprised if @Nucleus tops it.

The key this year was the 54 goals in the second half of season 13. That's significantly higher than normal (most players fade in the second half of the season). I can only assume that the injury gave him a freshness related boost through this time of year.

Superb year for him! Can’t see me beating 120 without ITN to be honest, and it doesn’t look like Deschamps is getting sacked anytime soon. His job stability has gone down to Very Insecure on two separate occasions but still no dice! What gives?! 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

Great read once again mate, KIU

Yeah, ITN managers basically get the job for life in 2018 (and 2017 too to be fair). Any time I've gotten the ITN job early it was because I picked strikers from countries with managers due to retire sooner rather than later. Not too soon though, or I wouldn't have enough reputation to get the job. It's a fine line!

But yeah, having the ITN job totally changes things. So much easier!

Hmm, I just realised that although I have never ever gotten 100 club goals in a season (98 is my best), I just got 100 club goals in the year!

My Poor Messi Regen

Just had to share this: I almost didn't sign him in the first place, because I thought he'd score too many goals. Then I hardly played him for the first 6 seasons at the club, just off the bench or when Pinamonti was out.

It turns out that he is a great assist provider as a wide AP. No sooner than I'd discovered that, he picked up the 12 month cruciate ligament injury I reported on previously:

pinamonti-season12-46.jpg.e7ee440b983dbd037a53610af148d5db.jpg

It took him about 6 months to fully get back into the swing of things, then just as the season was drawing to a close, he did his cruciate ligament again:

pinamonti-season14-31.jpg.df04f598adefb704f1908000e59d463f.jpg

He's still only 28, so has time to come back, but how unlucky can you get?

Update - Season 14

Pinamonti enters the season having just turned 31 and showing the first signs of wear. He has 389 goals left to get to the 1.5K mark. Can he do it? A lot is going to depend on this season. He needs a big one before the rot sets in...

Transfers

pinamonti-season14-37.jpg.353c38b70bd7e6265ef5d83f8d4fdc77.jpg

In the out column this year were Riccobene, De Rossi and Zaza, all of whom will continue to feature in my Italy team, but none of whom quite fit into the Newcastle squad. They can all play in far more positions than when they joined though.

Coming in were a bunch of youngsters, most of whom are regens. Yes, I cracked and abandoned my minimalist approach to regens. We have Tim Cahill's regen's regen. Amiri Jr. Slabhead Snr resurrected. Verratti's ghost. And (probably) Robben's clone.

Who knows where this will lead...

Competitions

Once again we fell short of the full clean sweep. Here's how we did:

  • Won the Community Shield, beating Stoke 2-0 (one goal to Pinamonti).

  • Lost the European Super Cup, with PSG scoring two late goals to beat us 3-2 (one goal to Pinamonti).

  • Won the Club World Championship, beating Wydad Casablanca 3-0 in the final (one goal from Pinamonti).

  • Won the League Cup, beating Man Utd 2-1 in the final (one goal from Pinamonti).

  • Won the FA Cup, beating Man Utd 1-0 in the final (the goal coming from Pinamonti).

  • Won the Premier League comfortably again, with 124 goals, which is probably our best. We got a goal difference of 100 which is nice.

  • Lost the Champions League Final, with Barcelona scoring a couple of late goals to pinch it 3-2 (both goals to Pinamonti). We've lost or drawn a few games this year (including the Super Cup) due to two late goals (never more, never less). Maybe we have a problem.

On the ITN front, Italy played terribly in the European International league. We got relegated, with England being the ones to put the nail in, absolutely humiliating us...

Assists

Who is providing all the club assists?

pinamonti-season14-38.jpg.24cbaa4fa5d0e818e5f3979f7e52d4c4.jpg

Once again we had a player step up and own assists this year. Once again it was a 30 year old who hadn't got anywhere near this many assists before. Last year it was Havertz. This year it was D'Amico (right wide AP). Who will it be next year?

Havertz also had a very good season. Messi Pochettino got the vast majority of his 17 assists in the second half of the season after a very slow start following his 12 month layoff. Rooney Kanu showed signs of finally being a force, right before he picked up a 7 month injury.

Injuries

No real injuries this year (at least to Pinamonti). Only this ghost injury, but that was it:

Decline

This is what Pinamonti looked like at the end of the season:

pinamonti-season14-39.jpg.d523477d26b135bebd6412be811449e9.jpg

His Pace actually went back up 1 point to 19 (the normal level over the course of his career). Stamina, Strength and Decisions all went down 2 points on last season and Movement lost a point.

He was actually worse than that for a quarter of the season (17 Pace, 15 Stamina, 17 Decisions), but he rallied in May:pinamonti-season14-29.jpg.657ede1b6cd3fd2b531f167f597d9e69.jpg

I offered Pinamonti a new 5 year contract half way through the season, which he accepted, but he's now saying he'll retire at the end of it. I'm not asking him to reconsider yet, because I can't tie him into a longer contract right now. I'll try in a few years if it looks like we'll need it.

Goals - Highlights

Pinamonti had four 4 goal efforts this year:

Goals - Club

He scored 92 goals in 56 games:

pinamonti-season14-41.jpg.6538fd1360b057f5b0e9e39c50f8544f.jpg

An awesome season, better than average, which is amazing given his attributes are starting to decline. That doesn't seem to affect him - when his attributes went down to 17 Pace, 15 Stamina, etc (as mentioned above), he still banged 4 past Man City... Legend!

Goals - ITN

Pinamonti had 203 international goals at the start of the year:

pinamonti-season13-31.jpg.e0f497245b21b69fc0baabd335b98162.jpg

And he finished with 219, meaning he'd scored 16 goals in 10 games.

pinamonti-season14-43.jpg.563d32d45a66310ffa56b5e4c92ba1d3.jpg

Less ITN games this year, but still a good job.

Progress

32 years old (EOY) Season Total
Club Goals   92 1033
ITN Goals   16   186
Totals 108 1219

The Future

This was the season we needed. Pinamonti now only has 281 goals to go.

He has just turned 32 and the decline is coming, but if he can average 60 goals a year for the next 5 years, he'll make it before his contract expires. I figure we should aim for 80 next year, then 70, 60, 50, 40 goals.

Bring it on!

I just realised that I've passed @Foxy's 1209 goals (for Fiete Arp), putting Pinamonti second on the Leaderboard

Although @Nucleus may have something to say about that, with his Mbappe on 1204 goals and a year younger than Pinamonti.

A couple of late runs into the box here...

Nice one mate, you are going to go well past Arp's total and hopefully all the way to 1.5k 😀

Makes me wish I hadn't got distracted by Foxy Jr and had just got a few more proper seasons out of Arp because it leaves me wondering what he really could have achieved.

Just caught up on this, what a player Pinamonti is! Great read and congrats so far mate, sure the 1.5k will come in comfortably if you can get another couple of big seasons from him.

Thanks Mr @Foxy. One of the benefits I've had is that this is totally focused on getting Pinamonti to score.

Sign a world class player that scores to much instead of assisting? No worries, he's gone. Worried Messi's regen won't pass enough. No worries, leave him on the bench for 6 years... I've got a son now too, just arrived, and in the Reserves. I'll develop him along, but he's only ever gonna be back up to the Man.

If you hadn't switched to Foxy Jr, I reckon you would have got Arp to 1.5K. He was awesome! But it depends what you're going for and a son career is pretty cool and something I want to do sometime. Just not until I get to 1.5K (still having the nightmares from Colido's attempt).

One thing's for sure though. @Nucleus is doing great things with Mbappe and he's been distracted by all sort of other challenges. If he'd focused purely on the 1KC, it would have become a 2KC!! 😂

Thanks mate! I reckon he'll get there. Scoring hat-tricks for fun at the start of the next season. But it can't last forever. Two doubts:

  1. Injury. Having had 12 month, 11 month and 7 month injuries in the last 3 seasons, I'm worried about that striking Pinamonti

  2. Retirement. I think I'll get it done before he's planning to retire, but if I don't can I get him to extend? In 2017 I wouldn't have been worried as I got 2 players to go to around 40, but 2018 retirements seem slightly different and I'm not quite as confident.

Anyway, we'll see how it works out! 😄

Really good @Scratch, show a matter of when now 👍

Thanks @Cockers2505! This has been better that Armstrong (scraped it in to 1K) or Colido (almost scraped it in to 1.5K), but 2K? No way!

I think I'm getting better at this. And I'm definitely getting an advantage from stacking my team with regens. But also I feel 2018 is slightly (just slightly) easier to score. Still using that old 4 3 2 1 formation! Anyway, we'll see how it turns out. Which reminds me, I need to get over your 1KC later tonight and catchup with it! 🙂

Yes thanks mate, It's a very good effort with makes it so appealing to read, I have been using a tactic that is simply crazy and will only probably work with fantastic player, it like a 2-2-1-4-1, so 4 attacking midfielders and a lone striker, but it works?

I've seen a few people with 4 AMs and it seems to work for them. I tried that and a few other weird attacking formations and some of them were GREAT for 3 or 4 games, then just collapsed...

So I kept coming back to the 4 3 2 1 and kept refining the instructions there and it works for me. I don't get as many overall goals, but the striker gets the lion's share.

But mucho respecto to everyone who can get those crazy @BatiGoal-like attacking formations working! I'm bit jealous!

It's Vidal's regen. He comes out of the box with a good many positions as yellow, I just trained up the regen up in one position after another until he got to this! His retraining ability for most positions was Reasonable (it's just that Sweeper position that he has a None in), but it took 5 or so years to get to this point.

Yeah I've found them to be more re-trainable this year too, but to be fair, Vidal is like this every year!  He is a special special player. 🙂

For sure. I mean who does he think he is, telling me he won't retrain. It's not like I was asking him to be a goal keeper! I should bleeding well sell him.

Wow, just saw your screenshot and that's crazy good! 20 Stamina and 19 Teamwork (mine has 11 and 9). I think you win!
