Try him wide right as a winger and put him on all corners and I'm sure you will see those kinds of numbers.

Pinamonti is looking awesome and reminds me of Arp attributes wise so I'm sure the goals are going to increase over the next few years.

Thanks mate. I actually tried to replace Pavon with him, but I ended up putting Pavon back in because he does better... Same with corners. Not sure why but Pavon hits Pinamonti more than Amiri does. They both have the good at crosses message.

Anyway, I'll continue to play with it. I suspect he will get better in the next year or two. He did get 2 assists in the first match playing as an AP from CM, so may persist with him there for a while...

Your lads are okay but as you've said they're no Wanyama 😛

I actually debated a double trouble with him similar to my Castillo + Eldin save where one basically goes for the 1k and the other just tries to pick up the 200 but iirc I could find a partner I wanted to use or a tactic lol.

Reckon I should buy him? 🙂 I would if I didn't have so many damn midfielders all over the place...

Would love to see that career if you got it going!

Update - Season 4

Pinamonti had a decent season last year, scoring 61 goals for the second season in a row. We're hoping he can step up a little and make it to 70 goals this year.

Newcastle won every competition we entered last year, including the Champions League. Our team will be better this year and from here on in, winning everything will be the target every season.

Onwards and upwards! Well, onwards at least. It turns out football throws some spanners at you every so often...

Transfers

Sometimes hard calls need to be made as you build your squad. Some were surprised I let Merino go last season. Well, this season the names leaving were much bigger! Gotta prune the tree to make it flourish (or something like that, help me @Foxy!).

Spoiler

pinamonti-season04-68.jpg.b82ea62f148f669f5a00e0b97e943220.jpg

pinamonti-season04-69.jpg.27addf3701afe0979865af842eac5401.jpg

Notable departures:

  • We said goodbye to Fred, who'd been one of our constant starters. He would have played this season if he stayed, but we had 4 or 5 midfielders at his level, some very promising youngsters and some new players coming in. So when the bid came in, we took it. It upset the squad, but not for very long.

  • We let Mitrovic go as part exchange when bringing in a player (I forget who). I know I was singing his praises a couple of updates ago and he's good enough that I've wondered about doing a 1KC with him, despite his age, but he'd slipped from 2nd choice to 5th choice striker.

  • We also let Ajer go in an exchange. A very good and versatile player and seems like a favourite around here, but he stopped getting playing time because we had better options at all his positions. He couldn't even get onto the bench anymore.

  • We sold Paul Dummett, who'd been a good back up for Tierney, but we had other backup options.

  • Scarpa also finally got a move. He went from our best player in season 1, to an outcast shunned by the squad. By the time he left, it was the best thing for all concerned.

  • And we sold a bunch of other very good players who'd be stars at most clubs, including Reynoso, D'Amico, Fornaroli, ter Aves and Afonso.

Notable newcomers:

  • Tom Davies, who looks to be a very good midfielder. Whether he's quite good enough for this team is a question that needs to be answered, but we had a real push to bring in some English players and he was the best young player we could find.

  • We brought in a bunch of other young promising English players: Sancho, Gribben, Vieira and Timmy Abraham... Some of these won't make it, but we'll give them their chance.

  • We also brought in one other young Englishman: Kanu. Unlike the others, he's is not a real player. He is in fact Wayne Rooney reborn, only with a Teamwork value of 19. I need some English players in this squad and he is the only one I know will be able to hold his own.

  • We also brought in a couple of other promising youngsters who were doing pretty well for their current clubs.

So, the club is shaping up nicely. We still have too many players (I keep buying more) and a few need to develop a little more, but we're not far off having a truly amazing team.

Competitions

Here's how we did in the various competitions this seasons:

  • Won the Community Shield, beating Man Utd 3-1, thanks to a Pinamonti hat-trick.

  • Lost the Euro Super Cup, getting hammered 3-0 by Chelsea, the first time we've suffered such a loss for a long time.

  • Won the World Club Championship, beating River 3-1 in the final.

  • Lost the League Cup, with Man Utd beating us 2-0 in the final. Ajer scored one of the goals as revenge for selling him.

  • Won the FA Cup, beating Man City 3-1 in the final.

  • Won the Premier League with 6 games to spare. It was far from perfect though, with 3 losses and only 83 goals (after getting 100 last time). It finished terribly with a month long period where we could not win anything.

  • We were dumped out of the Champions League, by Chelsea at the semi final stage. We just could not score.

pinamonti-season04-55.jpg.5128b01f9d364281b59e8b4ea5af338c.jpg

So.. Our goal was to win everything and we failed miserably. I don't care so much about the Euro Super Cup or the League Cup, as I do about the Champions League - we need to keep winning that to establish ourselves as the best in the world.

We had a horror patch at the end of the season, where we couldn't score, couldn't win, couldn't play:

pinamonti-season04-66.jpg.36a6ecc47dbf77d3ea0e9a01df385b83.jpg

Players could not get their conditioning back to 100% in between games and most were finishing games at 65-70% rather than 75-80%. I may have had the Training up a notch too high, as I've never seen this before. I swapped fresh players in and they played just as badly and ended up exhausted too.

It got so bad that the board was unhappy with the matches. Luckily I already had the League in the bag by this point, or I may have been planning my next career.

pinamonti-season04-58.jpg.49396794d0464a2df610ae60d234c46a.jpg

Luckily everything came good on FA Cup Final day - although we left it a little late and it was the sub who scored the winning brace, not Pinamonti.

Maybe I was wrong to sell all those players and invest in young English players... Nah, I'm sure this will just be a blip. If it happens again next year though... No, don't think like that, we can't allow doubt to creep in.

Scoring Is Dangerous For Your Health

At least that was the pattern for the first 2 goals, but Streete and Junior went and ruined this...

pinamonti-season04-29.jpg.d6d0ffbb2e548075050c156e01f25440.jpg

Injuries

Pinamonti had to get an injury sooner or later, even though he's resistant to injuries. Luckily it was only a 10 day injury:

pinamonti-season04-19.jpg.cd1b1e954c56198471507d7ca7dc914e.jpg

In other good news, his mysterious recurring groin issue has disappeared! Not sure why, but not complaining!

pinamonti-season04-26.jpg.7c3a942e2492a62e7d1a7edf22102e0f.jpg

He also had two in-game injuries (the green plus symbol), which he hadn't gotten at all in the previous 3 season. This is the least injuries I've ever had with a striker - it's great having someone who is injury resistant (touching wood!).

Development

Pinamonti started the season looking like this:

pinamonti-season03-90.jpg.5aea38600f2342e9580f091609ec6d8f.jpg

And ended the season looking like this:

pinamonti-season04-71.jpg.e8b30e698a4187f90e3fa8d8d4873953.jpg

Decisions, Movement, Technique and Teamwork all dropped back a point, as I turned down Tactics training a notch (Intense to Medium). Those points went to Stamina and Strength even though I didn't change the Physical training.

He got tired a lot again. I kept resting him, then Italy would give him two lots of 90 minutes and send him back jaded..

Awards

Pinamonti won all the individual rewards again and made all the Teams of the Year. I think I'll retire this section now and it's bound to happen every year from now on.

Pinamonti's Future

I guess it's no surprise that Pinamonti is hot property. It would be strange if other clubs didn't want to buy him. Barcelona tried their hand:

pinamonti-season04-03.jpg.5eee7dfd256186360f8e7596edb3d76f.jpg

We rejected that outright and fortunately he was happy enough with that.

I tried to renew his contract, but he thought we couldn't meet his demands. He still had about 4 years left, but I was still worried! Eventually I tied him down. He wanted £525K per week, but I got him down to £300K.

pinamonti-season04-47.jpg.8dd51fc68bf6f81b77323a3f78b43694.jpg

Goals

Pinamonti scored 6 hat-tricks this year, all but one of them in the first half of the year:

pinamonti-season04-49.jpg.f44e0a9424d6de31604ff41d2fec2619.jpg

I'd been targeting 70 goals this year and with 9 games left he had 60 in the bag. I thought his chances were high - he just needed to maintain the ratio. Then we went through the horror run and his scoring dried right up (was it to do with getting his new contract?):

pinamonti-season04-74.jpg.61aaeeefdf66f8e2702e939a6ff9ff64.jpg

That left him on 61 goals in 54 appearances:

pinamonti-season04-72.jpg.9f09fa6d112fed2df9d7910e8860e502.jpg

Well at least he's consistent... It was a terrible end to the season, but looking at the bright side: it's still a decent chunk of goals and he's only just turned 22, so there is surely more to come.

The Kingmaker

Who is providing all the goals?

pinamonti-season04-70.jpg.c4b1421485aad2b6b7b30997791c4781.jpg

It's still Pavon who's the assist-master around here. He slowed right down at the end of the season during the horror patch, but was still was the clear leader.

I still can't get the best out of Amiri or Havertz or Menezes Jacomo (Kaka) or Cattani (Pirlo). Hopefully they will improve with age, but maybe it is just the tactic I'm using, or maybe it's just they are sharing the assists with each other...

The ITN Job

We started the season with Ancelotti being very insecure in the Italy job and we finished the season the same way. If Italy would go ahead and lose a game, Ancelotti's slate would be wiped clean and we could drop this farce about him being insecure. He's not going anywhere.

The Future

A poor season this year means we're looking to get back on track next year. Teamwise, we want the Champions League. For Pinamonti, we're taking aim at that 70 mark again - although there's part of me hoping for higher. But I'd settle for the 70, thank you.

A decent season. It's so frustrating when your team goes through one of those spells where they can't find the back of the net and your goalie puts on his extra-slippery gloves. I'm sure it will all come good again next season, though.

Thanks mate - I'm sure he'll start racking them up in the next few years, but I'm impatient! :D

It's been pretty straightforward so far, even though I was expecting it to be harder in the EPL. Maybe the blip is something that will happen here from time to time that might not have happened in Scotland? Oh well, only one way to find out!

Yeah, super frustrating. I've haven't had anything that bad since ... maybe 2015? Bad games yes. Even 2 or 3, but that felt like I sunk down to a place of hopelessness! And it just wasnt expected with such good players. But there you go, sometimes FMM can be realistic! :)

Thanks mate. Yeah it's a first for me and I think it may be training related. I normally leave training alone or just swap theme around, but keep it at 9 units or 10 max, but I got greedy and went up to 11. Maybe this is the result. Not sure, but won't overtrain them anymore and 🤞 things are back to normal from now..

The consistency is nice but it's a shame it's not consistently higher! I think it will come once the work you are doing in the transfer market bears fruit following that hard prune.

This is why I have enjoyed using my German trio as they get a nice break every few months and that compensates nicely for the lack of ITN management imo.

Thanks mate. Whew, so I wasn't totally off base with my pruning comment! Not much of a gardener unfortunately (outside of growing my FMM squad)...

Yeah, if it was up to me, I'd leave the ITN job well alone, but if they are going to keep picking him, then I may as well wade into that (if I can get the job) and manage his game time properly.

Yeah I agree with that. If your lad is trekking around the world with the Italian team it might as well be with you in charge and keeping him safe.

Update - Season 5

Newcastle had a disastrous run near the end of last season, meaning we didn't win the Champions League. We'll be aiming to put that right this year. As for Pinamonti - well he has scored 61 goals for three seasons in a row. Can he make it four? Or better yet, can he surpass that and break the 70 goal mark?

Transfers

For the first time, we eased back on transfers. We have plenty of top players and while some of them need to mature a little, we don't really need to add much to the squad.

Spoiler

pinamonti-season05-30.jpg.fe446c3132c6a0f31d87a15a8199f36c.jpg

Two notable newcomers this time around:

  • Justin Kluivert was out of contract and decided to follow in his father's footsteps by moving to Tyneside. Let's hope he lasts longer here than his father did!

  • Kieran Wright came through the youth system. Turns out he is John Terry's regen. Imagine that, a Geordie John Terry...

Looking good.

Competitions

Here's how we did in the various competitions this seasons:

  • Lost the the Community Shield, with Man City beating us on penalties after it finished 2-2, with 2 goals to Pinamonti.

  • Won the League Cup, beating West Ham 1-0 in the final, with the goal coming from Pinamonti.

  • Got dumped out of the FA Cup in the 6th round by Man City, who beat us 1-0.

  • Won the Premier League with 6 games to spare (again). We were unbeaten (4 draws) and scored exactly 100 goals for the second time in three seasons.

  • We were dumped out of the Champions League at the quarter final stage, by Real Madrid who beat us on away goals. Pinamonti scored 1 goal and had another disallowed.

pinamonti-season05-26.jpg.34b1471464abf88e5327778025d3c645.jpg

Another poor season, although without the horror patch from last year. We generally played really well, but we couldn't even make the semi finals of the Champions League or the FA Cup.

We have a very strong team and in FMM 2017 we'd have been winning every competition. I see others are doing it in 2018, so I guess I just haven't quite got to grips with it or my team has some sort of weakness (the team report does say we're afraid of big games).

Anyway, back to the drawing board next year.

Injuries

Pinamonti got a 10 day injury:

pinamonti-season05-06.jpg.5fc0af009c808edd42e234eaf7fd0e0f.jpg

Could be worse.

Development

There's really no progress any more, so no need for before and after shots. This is what Pinamonti looked like at the end of the season:

pinamonti-season05-32.jpg.ef2cbc8bb62ee5ec48bc1a9561f78c05.jpg

He's still getting tired, but perhaps not as much as before. He did come back from one ITN trip feeling jaded and in need of a rest... I wish I could get him to retire from ITN duty.

The ITN Job

After more than a year as Very Insecure, Ancelotti's job became safe again (and not after a loss like I was expecting). However, he went straight back to Very Insecure after the World Cup, directly after this season. Still not hopeful of him being sacked.

Umm...

What's this:

pinamonti-season05-14.jpg.e64e35e4a061ad84b7c33d9b9d957dd3.jpg

Never seen it before and it doesn't seem to do anything that I can tell.

Goals

Pinamonti scored one quadruple this year, along with 3 hat-tricks:

pinamonti-season05-11.jpg.59a13c0e682649a73f85a7b72cb9ad9d.jpg

In total this season, he scored 68 goals in 51 games, just short of the target of 70.

pinamonti-season05-33.jpg.e199fdd66c041782a5797333eb809757.jpg

Not bad, but a little disappointing if I'm truthful. I really want him to be getting 80.

Maybe that's the price of playing in the EPL - there are very few easy games. Still, others have gotten players to score more in the EPL, so I just need to persist.

The Kingmaker

Who is providing all the goals?

pinamonti-season05-31.jpg.844a1de9fa180cf3154bac0970c9ec6a.jpg

It's still Pavon who's the assist-master around here. Havertz did better this year than previously, though scored a few goals near the end of the season to spoil his ratio. Catani finally stepped up near the end of the season, as did Sancho when given his chance. But Amiri needs to lift his game...

The Future

Another less than ideal season, although we're ticking along. We really really want to reclaim the Champions League next year and I'm hoping Pinamonti can push past 70 and aim at 80 goals. Bring it on!

You’ve achieved the superstar reputation. Won’t do anything for this save but from your next career onwards it kinda helps with getting high profile players to sign and you’ll be given extra transfer money.

As for the 1k, you’re ticking along nicely mate. I’m surprised to see he’s got 29 ITN goals in 29 games under AI management though 😮

Thanks mate! Yeah, he is class, this lad... I've never had a 1KC striker do that well under ITN management, it's normally something like 6 goals after 29 games, at best...

Ticking along well @scratch99, I think the update haas kind of taken away the star studded numbers others were getting before, or maybe he is simply not hitting the top form yet, in my Everton save I cannot for the life of me get the numbers I've seen on this forum, but keep going mate, it will come together all of a sudden as always

Thanks @Cockers2505. Yeah, it's been tougher for me than some of the other saves out there. I can't seem to replicate those! That said, I think he can improve. He seems to be top class, his ITN performance (with the AI manager) hints at that. And in hindsight, as much as I'm enjoying doing it at Newcastle, I'm wondering what sort of numbers I could have got with him at Celtic! Anyway. I'll keep on going and we'll see how it turns out. :)

Thanks mate! Yeah, I think he's building towards a really big season sooner or later... Gotta say though, the game is totally unrealistic. I mean Mike Ashley giving me £43M when I joined? It's pretty evident that would NEVER happen in real life.

Update - Season 6

Our goals for this season were to win the Champions League again (we've only won it once) and for Pinamonti to push past 70 goals and hopefully reach 80 goals.

Well, one out of two ain't bad... But which one is it?

Transfers

Last season we eased back on transfers, but this year we picked up the pace again despite not really needing to. We've filled the 40 slots and overflowed into the Reserves, so we are going to have to let some good players go soon.

Some of you will think that's excessive, and yes, I guess it is, but I always play this way: collect as many really good players as possible, work out which ones actually perform the best on game day (it's not always the ones with the best attributes) and then keep those and get rid of the others.

pinamonti-season06-57.jpg.cd338163d9b488fffa2b7fd94e04d229.jpg

The only notable departure was Roco, who was at the centre of our defence for the first 5 years, but who'd dropped out of rotation now we'd levelled up the squad. We also loaned out a bunch of the youngsters, including many of the newcomers.

Most of the incoming players are ones you won't have heard about. Some are definitely regens (Pochettino is Messi's, Augustinsson's is almost certainly Ibrahimovic). But I guess the rest are mostly regens too (Ayala is some sort of super powered Spanish defender), but I'm not sure whose.

Speaking of regens, I am more and more understanding how it all works. Because we are a top team in England, we get our fair share of English regens through our youth system. Last season it was John Terry, this season it was Andy Carroll, next season (already started) it's Ashley Cole (who seems to have hibernated for a couple of years).

pinamonti-season06-11.jpg.254557aedb46e92b2778b6fba86ba129.jpg

Not bad players to get for free through the youth team! Still, we've reached the level now where it's hard to get them into the team, even though we want some English players. Andy Carroll is good, but he's a step behind about 6 others we already have that can play his position.

Competitions

Here's how we did in the various competitions this seasons:

  • Won the Community Shield, beating Man City on penalties after it finished 1-1. Last year it was them beating us on penalties! It has come down to them being the only team that can stand against us in England.

  • Won the League Cup, beating Arsenal 2-0 in the final, with one of the goals coming from Pinamonti.

  • Won the FA Cup, beating Man City 3-1 in the final, with a hat-trick from Pinamonti.

  • Won the Premier League again, but this time it went down to the wire. We faced Man City on the last day of the season and they could have taken the title if they had beaten us by 34 goals. Okay, so that was never going to happen (it ended 1-1), but we usually wrap things up 6 weeks out from the end.

  • Lost the Champions League Final 1-0 to Barcelona. We had more shots, but just couldn't score and they managed to put one in during extra time.

So, a much better season than last year, winning everything - except the Champions League which was our main target.

pinamonti-season06-52.jpg.955d08eae9520e192a565679f5f5d891.jpg

We're now 6 seasons in and we've only won it once, which is much poorer than in any of my FMM 2017 careers (at a similar stage of development). I guess 2018 is more realistic - although I see others are winning every year, so maybe it's just me!

How Far We've Come

If you want a reminder of how far we've come though, how's this:

pinamonti-season06-62.jpg.7bde629c3976a8277c78b8222dd28ba2.jpg

Yes, we're big enough now that Man Utd loans players from us. And not just any players, but players that make a real difference to their team.

Sunderland on the other hand...

Spoiler

Benetiz, Karanka, Pardew, Escriba and now Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink:

pinamonti-season06-12.jpg.238ae0a4ff80db3aa0bb31b4da3a2a4b.jpg

Still mid-table in the Championship - but they did alright in the FA Cup, making it to the 5th round, when they ran smack bang into us:

pinamonti-season06-34.jpg.731bc0f3eca12fd484e806b2793b78fc.jpg

We took no pleasure in eliminating them. Honest.

Injuries

Pinamonti got a phantom injury in October (no injury notification after the game):

pinamonti-season06-19.jpg.91097378fde72532f32ab655358de1fe.jpg

Then he injured his heel while on Italy duty and was out for 2 weeks:

pinamonti-season06-21.jpg.4cc876a9072c186c6ce8ff57a277dac4.jpg

No sooner had he come back from that than he strained his knee ligaments and was out for 3 weeks:

pinamonti-season06-24.jpg.6fee8bff2411c0664dc4c366cefe074f.jpg

Although that seemed like bad luck, I chose to look on the bright side - he had a good long break which hopefully would keep him fresh late in the season.

Other Injuries

The game likes to play tricks doesn't it? In the January transfer window, I sold Roco and loaned out two young promising centre backs (including the John Terry regen), leaving me with 4 centre backs. The very second the transfer window closed, my two starting centre backs got injured:

pinamonti-season06-30.jpg.ea6b876ee90694dec995cfa594cb6969.jpg

I stuck it through and didn't recall anyone from loan, but then late in the season, the pair got injured again:

pinamonti-season06-49.jpg.c3977b5aac4cbf783d06f7e403f8f8b0.jpg

That left me with only 1 centre back (another one was injured already) leading into the final games of the season, with the Premiership, the FA Cup and the Champions League all on the line. This time I caved and recalled JT2.

If those two get injured again at the same time, I'm going to have them followed to see what they are really up to!

Development

This is what Pinamonti looks like now:

pinamonti-season06-59.jpg.21c69ebeb3913e1b2db24d4c67a27440.jpg

The tiredness problems are almost gone, but crept back in late in the season. Probably would have been worse without the month and a half off with the back to back injuries.

Set Pieces

I have Pinamonti taking the free kicks, even though my staff say he's bad at them. He does bang in the odd goal, but I really question whether it's worthwhile every time I see him take one like this:

pinamonti-season06-07.jpg.13c0d7218f33d23ca6cc54e4270b5f68.jpg

I'd love to get more granular controls for this, so I could just set him to take those within reasonable range.

Respect

I've long made my admiration of Pinamonti very clear and very public, but he was always a little cold towards me. However, wining the Premiership 5 years in a row was enough to finally break him. As soon as he left the field, he called a press conference and told everyone he loved me right back.

pinamonti-season06-47.jpg.fe03d8ce66e08a2a824c9005fdc09294.jpg

And he finally decided that I was his favoured person and that he respects me to boot.

pinamonti-season06-48.jpg.accb3018b8ed4b4554c7611432a948b4.jpg

All my 2017 1KC strikers favoured me after a season, but it seems much harder to earn in 2018.

The ITN Job

Ancelotti spends a lot of time as very insecure, but isn't going anywhere, so I'll have to wait until he retires...

Goals

Pinamonti scored 4 quadruples this year, along with 11 hat-tricks (and as you can see in the screenshots, he had a lot of disallowed goals too):

Yeah, that's right, he took off like a rocket. He scored 90 goals in 51 games, blowing right past the target of 80.

pinamonti-season06-60.jpg.5d1051a610075e6ae83487e479284c64.jpg

Magnificent season which fills me with hope for the future. I only hope he can maintain this! That's the most club goals I've ever got in a season (I did get Colidio to 100 once but that included ITN goals). It feels to me like 2018 is slightly easier to get the striker to score in? Or maybe Pinamonti is just different class...

The Kingmaker

Who is providing all the goals?

pinamonti-season06-58.jpg.233ddae17f463632af8ccddd87b9f4f3.jpg

Amiri was our top provider this year - but you need to hear the full story:

Everyone has been telling me that Amiri's best position is on the right wing, but he's had chances there and never done enough to dislodge Pavon. At the start of the season, I decided to give him an extended run and with Pavon out of the side, he took over corners as well.

He took off like a shot - 10 assists in 11 games, then 17 assists in 22 games, then.... he lost form and stopped creating assists. I tried to stick it out and see it through with him, but eventually I brought Pavon back in. Amiri's eventual return of 23 from 44 was actually quite disappointing in the end and next season is his last chance.

Progress

24 years old (EOY) Season Total
Club Goals 90 366

The Future

A great season, but just missing that second Champions League win. That will once again be our team target again next year, while for Pinamonti, I'm just hoping he can get near 90 again.

Another fantastic season, as for the phantom injury, I’ve had plenty of them. It’s such a nice surprise when you think it’s going to be a long term injury but once the game ends you receive nothing 😂

As for him respecting you, I reckon that’s because of your new “superstar reputation”. You’ll notice when you start a new save with that reputation from the off, that a majority of your team have you as their favoured person.

Nice work @scratch99, KIU

Now Pinamonti is cooking😀 Great season mate and dare I suggest he will get 100 next season😉

Tottaly agree. There should be a long range, close range and then wide right and left options so you can tailor it to what you want to do.

Thanks mate. Yeah, phantom injuries are the best feeling. I always prepare for the worst and grimace as I press continue at the end of the game, so when there is nothing there - magic!

As for everyone favouring me - I'll watch for that in future, thanks. I guess it's no big deal if they don't favour me, was just used to it in 2017 and my ego can't handle them not loving me in the same way! 😄
