Career Foxy Presents: Foxy's Fledgling - A Son 1Kc - Season 4

Welcome to my new save called Foxy’s Fledgling. In fact that is a lie as this isn’t a new save it’s in fact a spin-off of my current Teutonic Treble save where I have been trying to get Fiete Arp to complete the 1Kc, Leon Goretzka to complete the GaM challenge and Nadiem Amiri has been doing the assists challenge. That career can be found by clicking the link here.

I have just finished season 15 in that career and all three of those players are approaching the end of there careers but I’m not ready to give up on this save yet and in fact I would like to complete the full 30 seasons with Atletico but I wasn’t sure how I would get the motivation to do that without my Germans still playing. That was until the pre-season of season 15 and I got this news item.

The beauty being that he is a striker as well! At that point I knew I had to try and complete a 1Kc with him. I checked around if it had been done before and it has, unsurprisingly by @Ashez about 5 years ago (that career can be found under the link here), so not a unique idea but not a common one either.

My initial thought was wait for a job in a different league to come up (I have the premier league, Bundesliga and Serie A all loaded) and move to a big club buying Foxy Jr in the process and running it as a separate save file . In the end I have decided to stay a Atletico despite Manchester Utd being a serious option. I have loved my time at Atletico having built and now rebuilt the squad and I couldn’t bring myself to let the AI ruin what I have done. On top of that how could I bring a different club to play against and beat Atletico in a stadium named after me if we drew them in Europe, it just seems wrong.

What that means is I now have 15 seasons to complete the 1Kc with my son and if I can do it sooner see if he can surpass the total that will be set by the legendary Fiete Arp before him. I will also continue to try and rack up the assists with Amiri as well as try to complete the GaM with Goretzka and I would like to keep Arp going until the end of his contract when he plans to retire but that relies on him being happy playing less games. The Teutonic Treble will continue in the other thread until Arp, Goretzka and Amiri have all retired or left the club whilst you can follow Simon Fox’s adventures here.

My Boy

The big question has to be is Simon Fox any good or at least will he be in the future?

Well perhaps I am looking at it through the eyes of a proud dad but I think he has the potential to be a good player although perhaps not as good as Arp. He is 18 and has been at the club for a season when this 1kc starts although he never played a game for us last year and spent the 2^nd half of the season on loan at Wolves playing 9 games and not scoring once (which makes things easier). His best attributes at the moment are all in the areas I would like to see them for a striker and that is shooting, technique, pace and movement and he is also strong. I would have liked to see him better in the air at this point as I find that attribute never really increases for my players but he is a chip of the old block because his old man can’t head it either. He is also two footed which is a massive bonus as well.

This is what I think of him but how about the coaches that perhaps have a less biased view of him.

Fairly positive. Its unlikely he will reach the level of Arp which isn’t a big surprise as Arp is an all round striker but if Foxy Jr can at least get decent green numbers in the vitals I listed above I will feel confident that he will get to the magic 1k mark. I love the fact that he thrives in big games because Atletico is a club that has been involved in a lot of big games since I arrived. The fact he is professional hopefully means he can reach his maximum potential if he is given the game time as well. As for the negatives to be honest I don’t see them as major negatives because I want him being on the end of moves scoring goals and not creating chances for others.

If you haven’t followed the Teutonic Treble then why not it has been great! Here is a summery of all the trophies I have won so far and as you can see it is a lot in fact it is 15 straight La Liga wins and then 64 cup wins as well including 14 champions leagues.

So what is the aim for Foxy in season one?

 Well I still need Goretzka getting plenty of goals so that he has a chance of completing the GaM so he will remain on FK’s and penalties when he is on the pitch but Foxy will be 2^nd choice for them ahead of Arp although I doubt Arp and Foxy will be on the pitch together often. I will use Foxy in easier games especially in La Liga and the Copa del Rey against clubs like Eibar and Gijon where he can hopefully knock a few in and then Arp will play in big games like Champions League and against bigger La Liga sides so that we have a better chance of winning them but also to give Foxy a break. I would love it if Foxy could break the 30 goal mark this year although the way his attributes look at the moment and the circumstances of the save mean that is quite ambitious.

Yes it will be pure nepotism as Foxy pretty shocking at the moment but I want to give him plenty of game time to help him develop.

I hope you will follow this save as I try to get my 2^nd 1Kc and also complete my goal of playing the full 30 seasons of FMM but also still follow my Teutonic Treble save as well because there is still a few twists and turns to come in that as well I think.

Go little Foxy, go! I think he'll turn out good enough to get to 1K. Great that he thrives in big matches and has a lot of potential. He'll be surrounded by a top class team from day one, so he should have every chance of making it.

This is it then, Foxy Jr starts his adventure here as he looks to emulate the achievements of Atletico legend Fiete Arp and score over 1000 career goals. Foxy Jr is actually a season ahead of Arp because the German’s first season was when he was 17 whereas Foxy Jr is starting at the age of 18. As I said in the intro I really don’t expect he will get to the same level of ability that Arp has but he has shown some good progress this season.

Arp scored 30 goals in 47 games in his first season so that gave me a bench mark to work from with anything more than that a bonus. I didn’t want to tire Foxy Jr out so he was subbed in most games around the 80 minute mark unless he was above 80% condition which was pretty rare as his stamina isn’t that great. I also rested him from games when he had a condition of 95% of below which was often as the games come thick and fast with 65 to play if you make all the finals. Despite my best efforts to keep him fit he did succumb to an injury which pretty much ended his season in April although he was back for the final 2 games.

This also led to a slight drop in his attributes which you can see in his progress graph below. The biggest hit was to his physicals but once he got back to fitness they did start to go back up again. I really would like to see his movement go up as I think that is vital to him making the most of the pace and shooting that he has and I noticed when Arp’s movement got better the number of offsides he had went down.

In the end he played in 44 games this season and managed to score 33 goals which isn’t bad for a first season but a total that I hope will be improved on next year to hopefully around a goal a game.

Goal a Minute Challenge

I had thought about adding this challenge on before I started but I wasn’t sure so I started to record the minutes just in case I decided to do it. My mind was made up when I started to see how quickly the minutes were being ticked off and then it was put to me by @Ashez that this would be a good redemption story if Goretzka fails in his attempt to complete this challenge which it would be or at least he can try to emulate Leon’s achievement if he does manage to complete it. I think I might just be a glutton for punishment as I attempt this again (just the keeping track of the times and making sure I get the screenshots is a nightmare) but hopefully with Foxy Jr smashing in loads of goals each season it might only take me a few years to complete.

He scored 33 goals this season but we didn’t get 33 times as he had 4 duplicates but I did manage to tick off 29 times which is a lot better than the 6 I ticked off with Goretzka in his first season.

What Have we Learnt

I guess the first thing we have learnt is that I might have a little bit of an obsession with the GaM challenge that or I really like ticking off times from a list and taking loads of screenshots that need double checking. Either way its all a bit weird!

We have also learnt that Foxy Jr is capable of at least scoring some goals in La Liga but he has a long way to go both with his development and with the number of goals he needs to get.

The first season saw Foxy Jr score a respectable 33 goals and tick off 29 times for the GaM but he turns 20 this season and I need considerably more goals than 33 every season if he is going to get anywhere near 1k.

1Kc

I saw some improvements in Foxy Jr attributes this season and his pace, strength and shooting look good but I am worried by his movement, decisions and stamina. The problem being that according to his coach report he isn’t going to get any better so this might be what I have to work with going forward. If that is the case the worry is that maybe this seasons goal total is as good as it will get and if it is then I’m fooked.

Maybe those mental attributes will go up a point or two in the next couple of years but I won’t hold my breath. He is better than the average regen so I can’t complain too much.

He only missed 6 games this year but his stamina means that he rarely plays 90 minutes which is going to make those late times in the GaM are going to be a real pain. I was hoping he could get a goal a game this year but he missed out on that by 8 goals as he had a slump in form after Christmas meaning he got 51 goals in 59 games. He has “thrives in big games” in his coaches report and that seems to be the case as he often struggles against the smaller teams that you would expect to pick up easy goals from whereas he scored a hat trick vs Juve and had a good record against Real and Barca as well. I wonder if his poor movement means he struggles against minnows who play defensive because he doesn’t have the intelligence to find any space there is but against bigger teams they attack as well leaving more space for him.

That means that if I follow the @BatiGoal rule he has scored 84 bonus goals and the real challenge starts now as he is 20 but I am also conscious that there is more of a time limit on this 1k as I started it half way through a save and not in the 2017/18 season.

My head is telling me that he isn’t going to make it.

The GaM

More positive news here as he ticked off 31 times which was even better than last year and means that he is two thirds of the way through this challenge now. He only needs 10 more times in the 1^st half but it is looking very empty of X in the later minutes which is due to his stamina meaning he is either shagged by then or I have taken him off. If that continues through this save I may need to start him on the bench and bring him on after 10 minutes instead of taking him off for the final 10 minutes.

Going into the next season I am going to take a look at a couple of my creative players because as weird as this sounds I feel like a couple of them are too good!

These are the lads I mean.

They are both monsters that anyone would want in there team but neither create many chances with only 16 assists between the 2 of them this season and in Noah’s case 25 goals stolen off my strikers in the season before this. The problem comes that I think they are too complete and can do everything but I need players that simply want to create chances for Foxy Jr so I’m thinking I may keep Noah and drop him back into CM instead of LW and I may sell Zampano and bring in a out and out LW instead with good crossing, pace, dribbling, teamwork and crossing but lacking in shooting. I need to bring in a RW as well because Amiri is a bit part player now he is 37 albeit my top assister this season and my other RW doesn’t get on with Foxy Jr and nepotism wins out every day in this saves so he is off.

So plenty for me to think and worry about going into Foxy Jr 3^rd season.

I wouldn’t get too disheartened mate. That’s a solid start. Not spectacular, but solid, and as you said the law of @BatiGoal means you have 84 bonus goals. If anyone’s going to smash a 1kc with a ‘son’ in this it’ll be you with this tactic! Keep it up!

Yeah, that's a solid start, great going mate. It would be better if he was a little more green in the right places, but I'm sure there are enough goals in him for this!

For the creative players, yeah you may need to get rid of them. I've found that some players that look like that will assist their hearts out and some will score a bucket (and many will be in the middle). Teamwork isn't always a good indicator either. I generally just cycle through all of the ones that I can find and discard the ones that don't assist enough...

Of course with Amiri being 37, it's probably a good time to add him to your scrapbook and stick him in the reserves until he retires. There's a decent chance that Amiri v2 will be the prefect choice to partner Little Foxy through his career, just like the original partnered Arp...

Assists can certainly feel pretty random at times and of course Amiri takes all the corners when he is on the pitch so the other guys don't have that source of assists.

That will hopefully happen at the end of this season when Amiri has broken the 600 assists mark.

I need Foxy Jr to score 71 goals a season for the next 13 seasons I have left in the save which is of course achievable but it leaves very little room for error😩

What us underlings know is that when the Fox is in the box, the Fox rocks! 😉

At the start of this season Foxy Jr had scored 85 goals in total so some simple maths told me that 1000-85= 915/ 13 seasons left = 70.3 goals needed per season. So lets call that 71 goals per season and he will get his 1k with a few games to spare. Seems achievable but all the maths in the world won’t get him to put the ball in the back of the net and factors such as injuries and a decline in attributes towards the end means that I need to get goals and lots of them quick.

So my minimum target was 70 goals this year and that seemed possible as Xmas came and went and Foxy Jr had around 35 - 40 goals at the half way stage of the season but one of those factors kicked in.

The injury in fact put him out of training for 4 weeks and he missed 8 games in total and possibly 8-10 goals in the process and that made a big difference to the total at the end of the season. He finished with 64 goals in 55 games so not a bad return and much better then last year but without that injury that total would have at least been 70 and maybe a few more on top.

Attribute wise Foxy Jr looks almost exactly the same as last year so it is safe to say he is maxed out now and isn’t going to get any better but I would say that he proved this year that if he stays injury free he can get the totals that will get him close if not over the line. He now has 148 for his career and the total each season has gone up a little to about 71.5 goals needed per season so he needs to be at least hitting that next season if not beating that total.

 

GaM

Foxy Jr had ticked of around two thirds of the times needed in the first two season so despite more goals this year and drop in the number of times he gets was inevitable I think. He managed to knock off 14 times in the end but there are still big gaps in the later match times because his stamina means once I get to about November he is rarely finishing matches.

He now needs 16 more times with only three left in the 1^st half to get and as I mentioned last update if I need to sub him in games with 10 or 15 minutes to go I might as well bring him off the bench 10 minutes into a game so that I can keep him on the pitch to close to the end. The 1kc is very up in the air as to whether I will complete it but I think this GaM is very achievable.

Not a bad season then despite that injury really knocking it back a bit but I think I saw enough to think that he has it in him to complete both these challenges.

It’s still achievable mate. A couple of 80 seasons, which you are more than capable of, will put him ahead of schedule. Injuries permitting, of course.

You need to remember that he’s only 21. 64 goals at that age for a striker of his calibre is no mean feat. Let’s be honest he’s not exactly world class so you’re doing an excellent job, and as Rob says above I’m confident you can get a few 80+ seasons from him which will bring the average down. This is going all the way to 30 seasons though, no doubt about it, KIU

Yeah, agree with the lads. This may be tight at the end, but he has every chance of making it. Would be good if he had better attributes, but a) may still be further development and b) even if not, he has the players around him to get him there.

Keep it going foxy....you can aim for 80-90 goals and stay within that range for 3-5 seasons..Look, your son is a regene of an English striker with finishing and pace..who could that be??
