Ok, guys since my Nigeria career is winding down and i just came across this tasty looking challenge from  @Titjes, i thought let us give it a go.

If you are wondering what this is all about, then here it is

With lack of a better name for this challenge (for now)(open for suggestions), I present you the "How high can you score?" challenge.

 

The challenge:

The aim is to get a striker and midfielder and score as many points as possible (Striker goals + Midfielder assists + Bonus points)

The striker and midfielder must be of the same nationality and you start season 1 with both players comming from a nation beginning with A (Argentina, Australia, Austria) they then have one season to get as many points as they can, once season 2 starts you move on to Nation B (Belgium, Brazil, Bolivia) and so on and so on  in Alphabetical order until Z.

It's advised you start with a team who has money as some players can get very expensive, but as I said once those guys have completed a season they move on and so do you.  

You must also stick with the 2 players you pick, if one gets injured for 6 months, sorry but you will have to rely on your other player to get that score up.

The rest of your squad can be whoever you want, but the striker and midfielder must be from the same country.

 

The point system:

You have to keep track of 3 things:

• Goals
• Assists
• Bonus points:
  • League Title = 10 points
  • League Top Scorer = 5 points
  • League Top Assists = 5 points
  • Champions League Title = 15 points

 

example:

I play season 1 with Higuain as striker and Dybala as an att midfielder. Higuain scored 40 goals & was top scorer, Dybala got 25 assists & was assist king, we also won the League but lost Champions League.

So this season i got 40 goals, 25 assists and 20 out of 35 bonus points (as we didn't win Champions League).

Update 1.2 - Season A

Yes, i sold Antoine Griezmann. Shocking, i know but i couldn't refuse a 126 mil. offer and i want to mould this team in my way.

We could finish only 3rd losing and drawing 8 apiece but this was a good start. 3rd on my debut season was nothing to be scoffed at.

I forgot screenshots of the matches and fixtures so let's go straight to the performances needed.

 

Striker - Guido Burgstaller

With 36 goals in 50 matches and 11 assists at an average rating of 7.4, Burgstaller completely justified his selection as the target man for Atletico this season. At a goal/match of 0.72, the former Schalke man set a benchmark for the rest to follow.

 

Midfielder - Marko Arnautovic

Arnautovic was pathetic. With only 7 assists in 43 matches which is behind Burgstaller, Costa, Carrasco and many others, he was very poor and was a poor signing for us.

Burgstaller topped the goalscoring charts in the league so i atleast got 5 bonus points. Arnautovic was pathetic so i did not bother to take the assist screenshot.

Yup, Arnautovic was a letdown but hopefully, things pick up in my Belgian season.

Update 2.2 - Season B

Demoted both Arnautovic and Burgstaller as could not finalize a deal in time.

I don't know why Divo Origi is not coming in the transfers but i picked him up for 53m from Liverpool.

 

Season Performance

We finished 4th - worse than my 1st season. At a point of time, we were leading the league going into the last two months but a poor run of results combined with injuries to Origi and Costa meant we lost the plot. 

But, we lifted the Europa League to win my 1st major trophy. Now, since Europa is a little lower than Champions League, so i will add 12  bonus points instead of 15. Hope @Titjes approves it.

Champions League/Europa League Run

We were drawn with Juventus, Basel and Sporting (of Portugal) in the group stages and shockingly we failed to qualify.

1st Knockout Round

Our home performance saw us through to the next round as we were humiliated by Gent in the away match.

 

Second Knockout Round

We were on the backfoot in the 1st leg when Schalke put us down by two goals but we pulled back in our home beating them 3-0 and proceeding forward. Great game from my team.

 

Quarter Final

We were again on the backfoot as Valencia defended well and equalized on the counter to give them an important away goal. We needed to win the second leg in their home at all costs and win we did with Jota hammering in a goal at 84th minute to send us to the semis. Origi was injured and we hoped he will come back soon.

 

Semi Final

We again started poorly getting just a goalless draw away at Napoli. This was becoming a habit. But in the second leg, Origi came back and instantly made an impact firing a hattrick to send us to the finals.

 

Finals

A goal from Diego Costa was enough to see us through. It was not the dominant performance that we would have liked but still, a win is a win.

Origi missed out on the top goalscorer in the league which went to Suarez. Again i forgot the assist screenshot but Chadli did not make it so all is good.

Both give 15 points, otherwise people would have a dissadvantage taking a smaller team

Forgot to take the screenshots of transfers but Origi and Chadli were demoted as couldn't finalize a deal.

Our best performance in the league. We finished runners-up though we exited both the champions cup and Copa Del Rey cheaply.

Look at all those records. We were very unfortunate not to win the league. Kramaric tops the league goalscoring chart with 42, almost 20 ahead of Lionel Messi and even gets time to get his name in the top 10 assist.

Ok, now here's a tease for the next update. I actually signed Pione Sisto and Kasper Dolberg as my two Danish players but we started the season on a 8 match losing streak which made my job very insecure. I got an opportunity to save a relegation threatened club to safety. Though it was quite a step down from Atletico Madrid , i took the job as it was better to shift clubs then getting fired. So, the rest of this challenge will continue there.

Update 4.1 - Season D

 

Previously, in my last update i mentioned that i was leaving the greener pastures of Atletico Madrid to a Premiership club in England who were struggling to stay afloat. Who is the club??

Yes, that's right. I will be managing The Throstles from now on. During the shifting season, i managed to get them to 14th just steering them clear of relegation. Now was the time to move ahead with the challenge, though it would be difficult to get good players without good transfer budget but this is fun.

Update 5.1 - Season E

We needed a good season to counter the mishap of the last. So, with this in mind, i started searching for countries with E. Now, England would have been too easy and i wanted to check out and introduce new players to this save and to Vibe.  So, after checking out Egypt and Estonia and not finding anything that would fit our budget or solve our purpose, i settled on this:

Great season from the boys as we finished 8th, West Brom's highest position since i started this save. Some tremendous potential shown by the team.

Update 6.2 - Season F

Forgive me for i forgot the transfers again, but i got one of my faves from my Nigeria career, Victor Osimhen into West Brom.

Now, i was loving the Throstles but i wanted more. I wanted titles and Throstles were not looking like championship material so i got offered a job in a foreign country with a top level club and i jumped at the chance.  So, who are they?? Well, another set of hints coming now:

1.  Most successful club of the country

2.  They have played the top division since 1921, more than any other clubs in their country.

3. They became the first club of their country to win the European Cup and the Intercontinental Cup.

So, yes we are moving ahead with one of the best clubs in Holland,

They were struggling when i took over languishing in 12th. By the end of the season, i managed to drag them to 7th.

So, now a new season awaited and we proceeded towards the letter G. Now, we needed some strong contenders to drag this career back on track and what better way to start the new phase then by delving into the mighty germans,

Jay-Roy Grot leads the goalscoring chart making it back to back for Feyenoord. Vente not even making it to the top 10 in an injury marred season. The title of the assist king goes to Oliver Baudry who we had signed on a free transfer from Marseille.
