Ok, since my Chelsea career is winding down with only two more seasons left and i have a little more time with office work a little light, i thought i would attempt another goal scoring challenge which is unique in flavor.

Yes, I am attempting the Lee Dong Gook challenge where you need to take the 37 year striker and score as much goals as possible. 

If you haven't checked out the challenge yet, by all means check this original attempt by @Cockers2505  or the ongoing cracking attempt by @PilgrimAsh as these threads were the one that inspired me.

 

Anyways, enough of pleasantries, now off to the main part.

 

Season 1

Didn't do much changes as i wanted to get a feel of the team as i have never managed in Korea before and i had no idea what the players can do. Just did some depth signing at the back with Hinostroza as the only one for whom we spent money. He would play as my DLP in the tactics that i had created for Chelsea which i would implement here as well.

We did a clean sweep in my first season though it was not hunky dory and we were made to toil, not helped by the fact that i had a pretty leaky back who conceded a humongous 63 goals in the league!!!.

As you can see, our defense was pathetic and our attack bailed us out in the season time and again. In the end that was the decisive factor as we held on for the title in the slimmest of margins with just 2 points ahead of Pohang. Lee Dong-Gook was everywhere, scoring 34 goals in the league, double of second placed Tiago of Jeju and his partner-in-crime Adriano chipped in with 11 assists to take the joint lead at top.

As you can see, the cups were too close for comfort as we managed to win the FA Cup due to our first leg win and in the Asian Conf. Cup, we had to rely on penalties to eke out the win with Lee missing a penalty in the extra time.

We almost had a clean sweep in the awards, only missing out on the Young Player of the Year and two of our players made it to the Team of the Season.

 

The Playmaker

Adriano was our best playmaker by far with 19 goals and 17 assists, partnering Lee at the front and scoring and creating goals.

Looks like a great season mate! I don't know much about Korea either, but winning everything and getting more than a goal a game with a 36 year old seems pretty great to me!

Yup, he surprised me with his goal-scoring ability and also his ability to stay injury free for 95% of the season.  Priority in second season is to tie up my defense. Let us see.

Wow that’s awesome @Kanegan and your right he is a machine, he’s absolutely smashing them in for you, I should be updating mine a little later but I think your going to blow my results right out of the way lol. 56 goals just WOW! Look forward to following this one 😉

Thanks mate. Yes i was pretty surprised to get that many goals out of him and more surprised that he managed to play 52 matches uninterrupted, only missing 2 or 3 games for national duty.

I know he really is a machine when it comes to how many games he will play, it doesn’t last long though, and he has started to pick up some niggles and is affecting his form. 🤞he stays injury free for you.

Signed some better players to develop the squad with Kerschbaumer and Cadden as my star signings.

Another clean sweep. I missed the World Club Cup though, as i had advanced to the start of the new year and we got messed up badly there. Anyways, no goals from Lee Dong Gook so it was no trouble. However, i would have liked to get him some goals there.

Much better defense wise as we concede 38 goals compared to 63 last season earning us a healthy GD of 43 and we wrapped up the league before the split with 8 games to go. Lee once again lead the goals coring chart with 23.

Again the cups were very close but Lee Dong-Gook after a run of poor performance saved his best for the last with a hattrick in the Champions League second leg and we held on the onslaught of Al-Hilal to win the title in my first attempt.

Again except the Young Player of the Year, we again take all the awards with yours truly winning the second MOTY on the bounce and Adriano trumping his strike partner Lee by winning the POTY and FPOTY.

Adriano was again our best playmaker with 26 goals and 17 assists, capping the performance by winning two awards.

 

Now, onto our main man:

He started the season as a tank, logging in 25 goals from 20 matches before getting injured missing month and a half. His performance dropped after that as he managed to score only 14 from the remaining 26 matches, before netting a hattrick in the final of Champions League and following it up with a goal in the FA Cup final.

Season 3

Forgot the transfers but again i signed some cheap talent and let go of the old ones.

Did the League-Champions League double for 2nd time in a row while the FA Cup was a shocker, getting eliminated by a second tier side in our 1st round. Finished third in the Club World Cup to add to our achievements.

Another easy win. Lee still the boss netting in 33 goals at an AvR of 8.05. What a beast. 💪💪

The FA Cup was a shocker losing to a second division side in the first match. We managed to retain the Champions League with a 7-4 aggregate win over Al-Sadd.

Lee Dong Gook reclaims the FPOTY and POTY awards which was won last season by Adriano. I take the MOTY award for the third straight season. We get 4 representations this time in the Team of the Season.

Lee eclipses his goal total netting in 48, 5 more than last season. I also managed to sign him for another season and put the retirement on hold. What a player!!

The treble was ours again while we continue to stake claim to our third place in the Club World Cup. This is one thing i would look to improve.

We do the double century in league with 106 goals and 101 points, going 42 points clear of our nearest rival and getting a GD of 70. Fantastic performance from the team. Lee once again become the top scorer with 27 goals while our new signing, Andre Horta from Benfica shined in his first season becoming the top assist man with 27.

He continues to defy the years with another handsome tally of 42 goals. He missed around 2 months due to injury but still managed to cross the 40 mark. He is like wine - keeps getting better with age, even managing 23 assists this season.!!! :celebrate:

@PilgrimAsh has set the target of 200 goals for the "Machine".  He is well on his way to break that as he is contracted till 2021 when he turns 42 which i think will definitely be his last season.  Thanks @Cockers2505 for inspiring me to take up this challenge otherwise i would have never come across this gem of a player.

Insane, just insane!!! Two hattricks in successive matches to start the season, 15 goals in 9 matches, crossing the 200 goal mark.

I play him as a poacher with early crosses and shoot on sight and praise him for training atleast once a month so maybe that is doing the job. Also I have been blessed by the FMM gods in this save with Lee only getting one major in-season injury this season which made him lose 2 months of game time but it was the fag end of the season so no big loss there. He always get injured before the start of every new season so I am lucky in that matter.

Season 5 (Final)

Unlocked Sugar Daddy in this season which enabled me to get some great players.

Jovic was signed to replace Adriano who retired at a ripe old age of 33!! Such a pansy when you consider his strike partner is 41.  Other were backups in the squad.

Incredible, just incredible. In what is the last season for the "Machine" we continue the usual clean sweep and we pick up our first ever Club World Cup (more on that later) giving a fitting farewell to the greatest legend of the club.

Identical results in all the three matches as we beat America (Mexico), AC Milan (Italy, big upset!!!!) and Sunshine Stars (Nigeria) to pick up our first world title.  Lee hits in the Quarters and finals while our new hitman , Luka Jovic puts in a legendary performance to put down AC Milan.

Finally, the day came which i have been dreading since the start of the save:

Thanks. Yup, his prime starts from 38 onwards. This was definitely a fantastic challenge as we got to know this player otherwise very few players play the K-league.
