Career Woody & The Slab Heads - A Brothers Maguire Tale

Good morrow fellow mortals.

As the Slab Head Challenge has been royally smashed all over the place lately i though it would be a good idea to have a go myself.

@Cockers2505 set the bar with a superb 178 and i wanted to try a challenge that score.

So....let me show you the formation we used for most of the season. I only changed formation to my 1kc tactic when either Laurence or 'Arry were injured.

 

THE INS 'N' OUTS.

I bought in the usual players and a few of my personal faves who have served me well in past saves....basically lots of pace!!

 

NOTABLE GAMES.

Out of the brothers Maguire only 'Arry managed to score 3 in a game and low and behold he managed it thrice!!

My favourite game is actually one we didnt win but should of. What a game it was - like watching Keegan's Entertainers 😂

 

LEAGUE SEASON - FINAL TABLE.

A 3rd place finish...couldn't of asked for more really. 😆

 

SLAB HEADS.

Right so i guess we should get to the point of this whole challenge and see how the siblings got on.

Lets take a look at how the lads looked at the end of the season.

Credit must go to @Nucleus again for his superb training.

Ok Ok...lets see how Laurence did 1st shall we.

Having been the lesser known sibling the pressure was on 'L' to show his big brother he can cope in the big league.

After abit of a slow start 'L' started to find his feet and managed to finish the season on a brilliant 16 goals.

Wow the pressure was well and truly on 'Arry to not let his upstart of a brother overshadow him.

Maguire senior started off as his brother did and took a little while to settle into his role but when he did boy oh boy did he take to it. Finishing the season with an impressive 31 goals. 😲😲

Lets total up our score.

League = 76pts

Harry Maguire = 31pts

Laurence Maguire 80pts

Grand total = 187pts 

I think that might put me top of that leaderboard @Foxy (for now)😆

Loved this challenge and i'm glad i tackled it.

Wow, that's amazing mate. You really got them working. Interesting you made them Poachers, wouldn't have been my first choice. How many assists did Pavon get? And maybe I'm gonna have to check out @Nucleus's training as everyone seems to be raving about it (yeah, I know, I'm super late to the party on that one).

He certainly did....took him ages to reach double figures though.

To be honest mate your score was cracking and if it wasnt for Laurence having a brilliant 2nd half to the season you'd still be there.

I'm finding wingers with poachers and early crossing works really well but you need good heading and decisions and movement to get into those spaces.

I know Pav only got 16 but bear in mind of our strikers.....and the assists were pretty well spread out.

With better/proper strikers i'm sure i could get 30/40+ out of him.

Hmm, I found that too, although Pinamonti's not strong enough in the air to consistently make it work (gets some goals though). I can only imagine what it would be like with a slab head on the receiving end! 

Thanks for the info on Pavon. I think he'd go pretty well with a tall striker, so was wondering about how he went with these lads. I guess you can't expect them to convert too many! 😄
