The only black mark was the loss against Iraq despite Wright's hattrick.

Screenshot_2018-10-22-19-32-38-30.thumb.png.f2af019170898d01aee3de21addd5285.png

So, we qualify comfortably for the final stage.

Mixed bag of results. While we defeated Czech Rep. handsomely, Ecuador held us to a 2-2 draw.

So, unbeaten in the first 5 games in the final stage as we get a rude shock as Jamie Maclaren retires at 33 years. I missed his retirement so couldn't take his final screenshot.

I decided to try out my youngsters in the easy friendlies against North Korea, Angola and Jamaica but they disappointed big time. The high point was defeating England without the injured Wright.

Confederations Cup 2029

We were drawn with Oceanian Champions Solomon Islands, European Champions France and Copa America champions Argentina.

Match 1: vs Argentina

Screenshot_2018-10-23-18-42-38-76.thumb.png.31441d1fef53721588a842c7f70d9a78.png

Argentina had beaten us in a friendly which was just before the tournament and we were in revenge mode for this. Martin Cole was fantastic on the day notching up a hattrick on his Confed. Cup debut.

Match 2: vs Argentina

Screenshot_2018-10-23-18-46-00-55.thumb.png.a757413817b6d5de00b48dc4d2bedd19.png

Solomon Islands were dispatched off easily though we fell behind in 20'. Wright and Macbeth ensured no upsets happen.

Match 3: vs France

Screenshot_2018-10-23-18-59-39-11.thumb.png.379445c7f8097cdeccb40c6aa26942b2.png

Another famous Wright strike as we downed the mighty French with Upamecano being sent off.

Screenshot_2018-10-23-18-59-53-68.thumb.png.951be14ed2f3fc54e90e910e1508012c.png

We qualified as the leaders winning all our matches.

Semi-Finals: vs France

Screenshot_2018-10-23-19-05-27-62.thumb.png.bc21db2011011428379440788f8c5d9a.png

Another famous win in the semis as we defeat our familiar foes playing our counter-attacking football to hit them on the break. Cole continues his scoring form notching his 4th of the tournament.

Finals: vs Spain

Screenshot_2018-10-23-19-13-29-44.thumb.png.a628287c467cd009ef26c24f37b2c0a1.png

We faced Spain, our most regular rivals in the international arena and this time we finally managed to defeat them. We struck very early via a 30 yarder from McGree before we parked the bus and tried shots from far.

Fantastic achievement from the boys. Now, only one major tournament remaining to win.

Screenshot_2018-10-23-19-13-48-37.thumb.png.23df79b85951f13b3dacf15ce60ebfcb.png

Cole, courtesy his hattrick against Argentina wins the golden boot.

We were rewarded for our Confederation Cup win by this:

Yes!! We were the 3rd top team in the world behind Spain and Italy, the two European powerhouses. What a day for Australia!!!

Just posted new content. Socceroos are Confed. Cup champions. Wright is not as prolific as Maclaren but he is improving so hopefully he gets the target.

Update 11 - 2030 World Cup

Pre-World Cup Friendlies

Spoiler

World Cup 2030

We were drawn with Scotland, Croatia and Nigeria in Group H.

Match 1: vs Scotland

Screenshot_2018-10-25-19-00-50-42.thumb.png.2e474761280b2d06fc049837652e3e45.png

In a highly competitive match, Scotland held us to a 2-2 draw. Cillessen drew first blood but Cole immediately hit back with an equalizer. A thumping header from Moon gave us the lead but his mistake cost us the goal as Cillessen hit his 2nd.

Match 2: vs Croatia

Screenshot_2018-10-26-10-45-16-45.thumb.png.7a82302ee9f977ea29fe1849cd15a011.png

Cole hit his second of the tournament and his goal was enough as we survived Moon's send-off to win the match.

Match 3: vs Nigeria

Screenshot_2018-10-26-10-55-05-25.thumb.png.7816ecb6f59e4cbe5e0ddc28d1d401ff.png

Another 1-0 victory as we hold off the Nigerians who played almost the entire second half with 10 men.

Screenshot_2018-10-26-10-55-42-83.thumb.png.acb5a6b55fd15ab701673fc11a59cb19.png

Again qualifying as leaders of the group.

Round of 16: vs Turkey

Screenshot_2018-10-26-11-39-50-74.thumb.png.ff9b7efc01fca60ca3e3a0128c24af46.png

This is the start of the Delbridge tournament. In the absence of Wright who was injured during training, Delbridge stepped up and fired a brace as we withstood Derdiyok's brace to proceed.

Quarter Final: vs BrazilScreenshot_2018-10-26-13-18-49-80.thumb.png.a609dee1ccfaa34d016358a93bf70a12.png

Unbelievable. Delbridge continues his scorching form firing a hattrick against the mighty Brazilians as we defeated them 4-1. Another name in our long list of conquests.

Semi-Final: vs Chile

Screenshot_2018-10-26-14-07-39-82.thumb.png.ac2d7e7b64c925ecb74f5a2af4fee438.png

Staying with the South Americans, we faced Chile in the semis and another clinical performance with goals from Delbridge, Arzani and Wright sent us to finals.

Final: vs Italy

Screenshot_2018-10-29-09-47-22-20.thumb.png.b667436b5ec13490e9026472cf46e72c.png

We fought hard, real hard and came back every time from deficit but in extra time Zanetti completed his hattrick to break our hearts. We were still the bridesmaid after reaching two successive finals.

Screenshot_2018-10-29-09-47-49-42.thumb.png.aa8a6464d78bcf078f506a3bfa459dc3.png

Delbridge continues the tradition of Australians winning the Golden Boot by becoming the latest winner. It's more impressive that all his goals came in knockout stages as he never scored in group stage.

The Mitch Wright show

Post World Cup we played a lot of friendlies and Mitch Wright was back after his poor performance at the World Cup:

9 goals in 5 matches was how he made his return but there was one match which was special, the match which made him a Socceroo legend:

Screenshot_2018-10-29-10-21-34-82.thumb.png.c12d575132637f62c6ae026f37ee13eb.png

And finally our most improved rank:

The Socceroos should appoint you their manager IRL @Kanegan 🤩

Only thing about latest season, is what has happened to Macbeth? It made me smile seeing Macbeth scoring for you in previous seasons.

Macbeth has fallen off the grid with better players coming in and age catching up with him and thanks for the compliments.

Update 12 - 2031 Asian Cup

Asian Cup

We were drawn with Kyrgyzstan, South Korea and UAE in Group E

Match 1: vs Kyrgyzstan

Screenshot_2018-10-29-15-02-23-41.thumb.png.62886d22ab543bba754d91d2dc9bd07f.png

Nothing to note here. A comfortable victory. Wright could have had his hattrick if he didn't miss his second penalty.

Match 2: vs South Korea

Screenshot_2018-10-29-15-06-44-03.thumb.png.f70b41507f3469c96d8f3084ddb59113.png

Another competitive match against our fiercest Asian rival with Iredale bailing us out with a 87' strike.

Match 3: vs UAE

Screenshot_2018-10-29-15-09-46-53.thumb.png.a7edffba2320cca4840d2c29f8b02de3.png

We round off our group stage with an easy victory. Wright struck in his 3rd consecutive match.

Screenshot_2018-10-29-15-36-56-07.thumb.png.b60f9eb8594229309d287f6f3e8a1f3b.png

Some weird teams proceeded towards the next round with us facing Thailand. The outcome could only be one.

Quarter Final: vs Pakistan

Screenshot_2018-10-29-15-41-15-55.thumb.png.03f4bab9caa3835e3260502fffb753f7.png

Another weird team. Pakistan made it to quarters and this was the first match in the tournament where Wright had failed to score.

Semi-Final: vs Saudi Arabia

Screenshot_2018-10-29-16-39-37-49.thumb.png.71ca6b7ed0eb5b90c9070243e1d73077.png

And Wright gets injured but we brush off the Saudis with ease.

Final: vs South Korea

Screenshot_2018-10-29-18-07-20-87.thumb.png.a48b3c03b9b69a4a4df56105b0176161.png

And Wright is back for the finals and his 5th min. strike is enough for us to win our 4th Asian title and 3rd under my reign.

Screenshot_2018-10-29-18-08-10-36.thumb.png.04aa8bf2d435ecf8a4ffa831970d6dbf.png

And Wright is back at the top.

4 of my bastard sons playing for FC Goa in ISL !!!! Holy cow!! When did that happen!!!

I decided to scrap the calendar year and total goals challenge as it is becoming cumbersome to count all the goals.

0.2K International Goal Challenge

Jamie Maclaren

Goals - 138/200 (Retired)

Mitch Wright

Goals - 104/200

Hattricks - 8

World Cup Golden Boot - 1

Asian Cup Golden Boot - 1

So, Wright breaks the 100 goal mark. 🤞 he scores 96 more atleast.

The win against Brazil was sweet but losing to Swedes by an identical margin hurt us.

The draws against Uzbekistan and Kuwait were disappointing otherwise this was a decent qualifying campaign.

Still going strong @Kanegan

Wright has nearly caught up with Maclaren. The 200 is looking good. 👍

Yes but he is again going through the same patch as Maclaren i.e injuries once he hit 30. The injuries are becoming more long term ranging from 1 month to 4 months now.

Update 14

Confederations Cup 2033

We were drawn with Oceanian Champions Tahiti, Copa America champions Brazil and Euro champions Spain.

So, beating Tahiti and getting in high scoring draws with Spain and Brazil.

Semi- Final: vs USA

Another high scoring draw but we go through via penalties. Its unbelievable that i have never lost a shootout in this save which is just diametrically opposite to my other saves where i would win hardly 25% of the shootouts.

Final: vs Spain

Another hard fought match but this time we lose in ET when Reyes was brought down in the box and he slots home the penalty for his 4th.

Wright missed the entire tournament due to injuries.

So, after going through these two friendlies, we headed to South Korea for the World Cup. We were drawn with Congo, England and Mexico in Group C. A pretty easy group.

We did well not to lose a match. Congo and Mexico were easy wins while we played a very entertaining and high scoring match against England which ended at 4-4. Wright was on fire smashing 4 goals in 3 matches.

Sankoh could have got a hattrick but he got two disallowed goals. But his one goal was enough.

Quarter Final; vs Ghana

And Wright's scoring boots are on. He smashes a hattrick while we hold off a late surge from Ghana to go to semis.

Semi Final; vs France

Another impressive win. Michaelis steps up in a rare off day from Wright and a powerful header from Iredale means we reached our 3rd consecutive World Cup final. Now if only we could win it this time.

Final; vs Italy

And yes, we did it. We finally did it. We won the world cup!!! Socceroos are world champions!!! A solitary goal from Wright was all it took to light the dreams of an entire nation.

I couldn't believe my eyes and i actually screamed before my missus screamed at me for screaming pointlessly. Oh what would she know about my trials , right?? For her, it is just a stupid game but for me this was the moment i have waiting for so long.

Final Update

With FMM 2019 coming out, i thought i would wrap this up and almost stormed through the seasons but in the end again bad luck hit me as just like Maclaren, Mitch Wright retired at an age of 33. So, i could not crack the 200 goal but this was a very satisfying career, more so than my Nigerian career as i won both the Confed. Cup and World Cup along with the Asian Cup this time around.

Asian Cup 2035

We managed to win another Asian Cup under my reign so we have not lost the cup ever from when i took charge. Only one edition we missed due to a bug.

Screenshot_2018-11-02-15-21-26-45.thumb.png.2de56de37729aa97c489ded6daba7443.pngScreenshot_2018-11-02-15-26-12-99.thumb.png.74dcb8d22a679a182aa5ea73cd5282a1.pngScreenshot_2018-11-02-15-26-30-94.thumb.png.907ea8b6aebb738b00a9a5b72ad54b3f.png

So, Wright sewed up his 2nd Asian Cup Golden boot courtesy his hattrick against Japan in the semis, finishing the tournament with 6 goals.

He hit another hattrick before he retired against Tunisia.

And this is how he ended,

We also managed to achieve the top rank in the world:

Thanks to @URz , @Real_Random for supporting this save throughout and for all the other silent viewers who checked this out.

This was a pretty satisfying career to close off 2018 though i would have wanted to achieve the challenge. Hope to see you all in FMM 2019.

The 200 INT goals might not have worked out but what you achieved with the Socceroos was amazing. I really enjoyed following this career @Kanegan

Here’s to your next FMM19 career.

Thanks mate. yes, this was very enjoyable. I already have some ideas brewing for 2019 so once i get the hang of the game i might launch a save soon. Also will be waiting for your career as well.

Just caught up on this now - as an Aussie, it's shameful I missed it, but better late than never I guess. Anyway great effort mate. Shame the two strikers retired before the 200, but wow, you won the World Cup for us! How awesome is that! I love the fact that you built towards it, kept going forward, closer and closer until you did it!

I also had a good laugh at the fact that in the first half of the career Australia almost always finished 2nd in the group stage (of whatever competition they were it). Amazingly consistent! :D

Anyway, well done mate, see you over on 19 shortly I hope!

Thanks mate. Yes, this was a pretty satisfying career though the challenge could not be completed. When you play only int, it becomes hard to train your players so we have to live it to AI and I got unlucky. Looking forward to 2019 now.

Yeah, INT without a club (with many of the INT players) is quite hard!
