Career Pellegri in Madrid - 1K Completed!

SO THE UNTHINKABLE HAS HAPPENED IN MADRID............CR7, FOR SO LONG THE DARLING OF THE LOS BLANCOS HAS MOVED ON!

WHILST CATALONIA CELEBRATES THE SPANISH CAPITAL MOURNS!!

MADRID NEEDS A NEW HERO.....................

WILL IT BE BALE? BENZEMA? ISCO?

NO.............STEP FORWARD THE NEXT GREAT HOPE.........................

After playing around on a few saves I am hopeful I may have finally the time, patience and a tactic to conquer the mighty 1K Challenge. I started a Fabio Silva 1K but as I am nowhere near as good as a couple of guys who have already started I thought I would give everybody's favorite Italian Target Man a shot.....And what could possibly be a better challenge than filling the boots of arguably our generations greatest goal scorer!

I am literally starting this challenge from scratch, as I am bout to leave work for the day. I hope to at least complete the first season over the weekend. I know Pellegri is a popular choice so I will limit this career to one post per season.

Well it turns out I manged to fly through the first season......yes I am a little bit addicted.

Overall it went reasonably well however when managing a team like Real Madrid it’s almost like cheating.

So let’s start with the team as a whole. Like I said it almost feels too easy, I might set myself some restrictions going forward (only sign teenagers, only Spanish players etc)

European Super Cup:-

Nice win in a Madrid derby

Club World Championship:-

Bit of a throwaway competition but going forward I’m hoping the extra games will help add a few more goals.

Spanish Cup:-

We went out early on away goals which was disappointing

La Liga:-

This was easier than I expected, but with the squad depth available there would be no excuses not to win this.

Champions Leauge:-

The holy grail for Los Blancos, we enjoyed a great campaign and I was surprised to meet the team we did in the final.

We also faired very well in the end of season awards:-

And an interesting thing happend, which took my by surprise, as it was right at the start of the career. Likely because I sold a host of players before anybody new came in. Not that it makes much difference to the game but I am hoping it gives me extra chances to offload the deadwood:-

Transfers:- 

For the first few season I have an awful habit of chopping and changing to much. Hopefully once I am totally happy with a settled side and formation the big man will benefit with more goals. Like I said with the obscene money available it’s almost embarrassing:-

And now to the main event, how did the big man do? Well it’s a decent start but I don’t think he benefited from my chopping and changing of tactics throughout. As he matured I am hoping for more and want him to reach at least 70 goals next season (the international job would be great) :-

56/1000 - a decent start but improvement is needed quickly!

So let’s finish with who are the standout performers for his expensively ensembled side:- 

Anywy thanks for reading guys, at first I was struggling to get into the save, I never enjoy the game as much once my sides dominated, but I’ve got a clear goal in mind - to complete my first ever 1K challenge so I plan to be a trooper and power on!

Season Two update:-

Clean sweep for Madrid, as to be expected, but a disaster season for Pellegri with a shabby 36 goals.

Will push on for another season, with a new tactic (Bale & Pogba are scoring far to many goals) and aim for 70 - if I fail to reach this number I’m likely gonna chalk this challenge up to experience and try again.

End of Season 3 and I was on the brink of giving up this challenge. the team were flying but Pietro wasn't scoring enough, and it was getting a little tedious. I made a decision to totally revamp my tactics (previous was based on a TM) And there was indeed a huge turn around in goals scoring 67 in 58 games. This has convinced me to carry out and hope for a BIG season next year!

The only downside to the new tactic is i'm leaking goals all over the place, which resulted in a season where we missed out on the Champions League (loosing 3 games from next season) I also missed out on, despite applying, the Italian Job

Will try and crack on with Season 4 today, and rebuild what is now an aging squad (over 30 and your done for me) 

As ever I play to aim high for the season and I am looking for PP to grab at least 80 goals this season.

I started a RM save on Friday just to try out having a second team that actually plays games. Stupidly easy though. 3 seasons in and first team not lost once in a season and 2nd team top of Spain’s league2. Funny thing similar to yours though is that first summer Chelsea came in and bought half my squad. They spent over 600mil on all my old fading stars 😂 but if we choose Chelsea to manage in that first season you don’t get over 100mil transfer kitty. AI getting all the breaks like usual.

Yeah this is an anomaly that I don't really understand. I can't say I am enjoying this save as much as journeyman saves, as it is a bit monotonous. I am however going to power on and try and complete my first ever 1k challenge

Cheers buddy, he can't seem to build up any momentum. Started with 12 in 7 on the next season and yest again out for a month. This time I won't rush him back. I found playing him the last few minutes, hoping to sneak a few goals, was counter productive.

It's so very easy and tempting to overplay a player. Imo finding that perfect balance between match time and rest (for the injury prone or veterans) is one of the hardest things for us managers.

Yup been learning that the hard way! Waaaay to keen for him to play as many games as possible - this entire save has been a learning curve

I tried once with Pellegri last year. He started of amazingly well, only to be out for the next two months. Suddenly his PA plummeted from 4.5 stars to only 3 (I checked with editor). So I wish you all the best.

Anybody know who's regen this might be? My scouts found him and he is developing very well with game time. At first I thought Rooney but he is still playing at DC United

Ahhhhh makes sense - as he was English and I fond him at Luton it threw me off - Spanish is his second nationality though.

This career has been on hold, partly due to the failure of the last season (Pellegri still won best player in Europe and top goalscorer) but I felt to have a chance of reaching the 1000 goals he needed to be hitting at least a goal a game.

However I stumbled across a tactic on my Aston Villa Career that had Rushian Hepburn-Murphy hit 60 goals in a season in a vastly inferior team, so I decided to give the big Italian one final crack using this tactic. So far its been going very well and this also happened, so going to re-start this career.

Season 4

Had lost interest a little in this save but managed to give it one last hurrah, and as such bypasses the end of season 4. To summarize our squad is absolutely epic and its frustrating me that He can't seem to find any momentum. 

He finished the season with 48 goals in 53 games, so lets see how we are progressing towards our goal-

Season 1 - 56

Season 2 - 36

Season 3 - 67

Season 4 - 48

Total = 207/1000

A very slow start, but fingers crossed with a new tactic (spoiler I have abandoned him as a TM and now using him as an AF) he will up the goal rate. It seems to be working so far, and with the Italy job I would like to see him reach at least 80 for this season.

Season 5

Having rediscovered my mojo for this save lets take a look at how season 5 panned out for the Italian. Having landed the Italian job I was hoping for a big season.

In what was a World Cup year lets start with the National Side:

Pellegri manged to hit 14 goals in the 11 games I was in charge, so this was very helpful to the total. Italy had a great world cup and manged to make it all the way to the final where we met the might of the French, how did we get on -

Yes we dominated and I manged to add a nice little extra to the trophy cupboard  

Here's a few more little World Cup related awards:-

Pipped by THAT Frenchman in the race for the World Cup golden boot. In fact these two have had quite the battle for all goal scoring awards in this save.

As for Real Madrid, again it was a clean sweep, this little nugget did pop up which was nice  

As for Pietro, he was simply on fire this season, and was it not for a few little injuries he would have had his (and mine) first ever 100 goal season.

Real Madrid Goals - 85 (to add to his 14 for Italy) gives us a season total of 99

 

So we are now at 306/1000

Finally I feel that we can now really push on, anything under 100 for the next season I will class as a failure

Season 6

Keeping this post brief as inundated at work and Christmas is fast approaching. I have managed to complete the season, with the usual trophy hall and as this was a European Championship I had high expectations.

I also managed to unlock the below this season which was nice, not that we needed Sugar Daddy or No Work Permits (this may help with selling certain players)

So how did the main man do, lets take a look:- 

Added the second screenshot as the Euro's somehow went into the start of the next season, however as Italy crashed out in the Semi Final - I was relieved of my duties, which is going to hurt me going forward. Probably my own fault as I rushed at finalizing the squad and maybe didn't pick the best players for my tactic.

Overall, despite the high numbers, I feel this was a bit of a missed opportunity as Pellegri was on 60 goals by January, averaging over 2 a game. However we finally passed the 100 mark (including international goals) I will be pushing for 100 Madrid goals this coming season.

Total = 306 + 104 = 410/1000

Cheers mate, yeah I think he has pretty much peaked now. Settled on using him as a poacher rather than a Target Man. I am also going to tweak my tactic slightly for the next season - plan to try out switching my wingers to advanced play-makers and look for overlap rather than early crosses

this is just from personal experience for me to share (it's not a guarantee), i had quite a run of goals from him with that winger early crosses setup with him as a CF.
