Help Australian League Problem

So it's more like a Asian Champions League problem.

I'm playing with Wellington Phoenix and last season i won regular season, ffa cup, and was runner up in league playoffs, but i'm still not in champions league this season(there are 4 other Australian teams there). So what's the problem, is it a game bug cause i don't know if there is any point in playing this league if it doesn't CL spots fixed.
