The Park Ji Sung Challenge

My last FMM19 carrer was a big dissapointment after it turned out that Wellington Phoenix can't get to Asian Champions League, so i wanted something refreshing.

I can't say that i'm fan of Park Ji Sung(Man City fan here), but this challenge seems really interesting

Park Ji Sung reincarnated 

At first i was planning to go with some 18-21 yo, but i wasn't able to find anyone that will suit me. 

Finally i decided to go with Kwon Chang-Hoon from Dijon. I got him for 14,75 mln euro(probably too much, but i wasn't in a mood for big negotiations).

I'll probably be back with update later on today.

Great save idea. I got my Park Ji Sung to Watford and was 1 league title away from completion - then FMM19 was released.

Season 1 update

Transfers 

Unfortunately my board wasn't very generous and they gave me around 16 mln, which i had to spend on my Park Ji Sung.

I was able to get some money from Gaston Pereiro though and with some player exchange also got Ozcan and Fraser.

Van de Beek came later during winter to help me get through some small injury crisis.

 

Dutch Supercup

Decent start of the season as we get to complete our first goal with a big influence of Chang-Hoon who managed to score twice. 

Dutch Cup

I'm bit dissapointed with a result, mostly because during the season we won other 4 games against Ajax. Penalty shootout is always a lottery and this time our PJS missed from the spot(names crashed but i remember it was him). Better luck next season!

Champions League

As you can see it was a short journey   Start of the season wasn't so great for me as i was trying to find a system that will get the best out of my PJS. In this playoffs his red card screwed us up and we ended up in Europa League. 

Europa League

After terrible Champions League performance i managed to fix that tactic and we managed to win Euro Cup. I know that this competition is not a part of this challenge, but when i concider my opponents i'm really proud of it. 

And finally...

Eredivisie

I forgot to take the screenshots of a best games, but i can tell you that it wasn't as easy as it looks. If i remember correctly halfway through season i was 2nd with about 10 points to Feyenoord, but after that i had a long unbeaten run.

 

Park Ji Sung

And how was our Korean fellow doing ?

He managed to get 25 goals and 16 assists so i believe he exceed my expectations. I'm pretty sure that his rating should be higher with this numbers, but i guess you can't have everything. 

He stats are bit better than at the start of season, but i don't think he will get much better than this.

This is what I came up with by the end of a season. I think it will work even better when i will get better wingbacks  

 

 

And here is the guy that improved a lot throughout the season. I remember that after 15 games his rating was about 6.3(he was coming from the bench a lot).

The Europa win was tremendous. Great start to this. Kwon really shining through in the first season.

Season 2 update 

First season was a pretty decent start for me as we managed to pick up League, Supercup and Europa League. 

This season my goal was to win the league and cup to complete the first part of challenge and have a decent run in a Champions League. 

Transfers

Once again our chairman wasn't willing to spend a lot of money, but we sold some youngsters and Luuk de Jong and that was enough to make some improvements. Before the season i wanted to get better wingback, but since i wasn't able to get anyone good enough i bought Linetty to be BBM and Miazga to improve my defence. 

Supercup

As you can see - we're not so good at penalty shootouts and i'm very lucky that i won this cup last season - so that loss wasn't that important. 

European Super Cup

While domestic supercup was a terrible performance, lads really stepped up for the international one. They were better side all game and they proved that we can compete against the best clubs. 

Champions Cup

Last season we needed to get through Champions League playoffs and we failed. This time we started in group stage and it went really smooth. We even got ourselves a 5:0 win against Roma. 2nd match against Man Utd was also a great performance, but our injury crises caught us right before Bayern games and we couldn't do anything against them. Anyway quarterfinal is still a pretty good result imho. 

 

Dutch Cup

This year we were dominating entire competition and without any problems we got ourselves the Dutch Cup. That meant i need to win the League to complete the first part of challange. 

Eredivisie

And we did it ! Unbeaten in league with 110 goals scored. Our defence was a bit leaky though. I need to work on this in next club  

Park Ji Sung

Great numbers again. 23 assists is a very impressive results concidering that he played only 35 games, because of injuries. 

Main scorer

71 goals from this young guy. I think i'll try to get him to England with me. Let's just hope that i will find club that will be good enough.

So now i just have to wait for a Premier League manager to get sacked - hopefully that will happen before the end of the transfer window. 

I had offer from Tottenham at the end of the season, but it was before Dutch Cup so i couldn't accept it

Season 3 update

After finishing my Dutch part of the challange i needed to find some Premier League club that will suit me.  I had to choose between Burnley and West Ham and decided to go with Hammers, because i was afraid that our PJS won't be willing to join Burnley. 

Transfers

As it turned out it was a good choice. I made an offer for Kwon staright away and i was barely able to get him(needed to give him release clause to fulfill the contract).

Hazard and Aranguiz were signed by previous manager. 

After getting Kwon i started to rebuild my squad. I sold Yarmolenko, Fabianski and Arnautovic, got Plizarri and than the end of transfer window happened I keep forgetting that it ends in early August now. Challenge became much harder as it turned out i don't have any decent striker. I had Toni Martinez but he didn't fit in my tactic and wasn't scoring many goals. 

Fortunately i managed to keep my job until next Transfer Window where i got myself Vagnoman, Greenwood and Maier(12.5 mln release clause bargain).

This performance was short, but i'm pretty happy about the results. That lose against Man City was just a bad luck

I concider that a good result. We improved a lot throughout the season and the second half of it was really good. I think we lost only 2 times at the end of season. I hope that next year i will be able to get some good transfers and we will fight to get some Cups

Park Ji Sung

He was really struggling this season with a lot of injuries, but when he was playing - he was decent, hope that i will get his numbers up next year. 

Best scorer

This guy saved the season for us. Scored 4 goals in his debut and 22 goals in 19 games. I'm sure that he will get much better now.

Amazing stuff great to see you took a different route to the prem. I went to Watford in jan last season in the championship took my Park Ji Sung with me got promoted to the prem and then the fun began!

Thanks for the support ! I was thinking about choosing Championship team, but i figured that my PJS is not that young so it would've been bit risky. I'm still bit worried that he will try to retire before i will finish that challenge.

Cheers ! They sacked Mourinho 3 months after i took over West Ham, but i figured that i don't want to switch teams for the one i hammered twice during that season. Also i'm City fan :D

 

I'm past season 4 now, - i think i'll do some update tomorrow morning - i will probably fall asleep straight away after my work.

Time for Season 4 update 

My goal this season was to get at least one trophy and do well on transfer market. 

Transfers

I was able to get Brandt as my biggest signing this year along with Bazoer and Karius. Plizarri needed some pressure cause he wasn't doing good enough and i figured Loris made lifetime amount of mistakes so he should be good now. Martinez, Rice, Hazard and Lanzini didn't suit my team so they had to go. 

FA Cup

It's not the cup that i have to win in that challenge, but since it can get me to Community Shield i wanted to get this too.

And we were close,, but Liverpool's quick double from Woodburn and Isak took us down. 

Carabao Cup

We had a great run after beating Man City and Chelsea, but i can't seem to win any penalty shootout. Hopefully i will break my curse someday. 

Champions League

After group stage i got my hopes up again, but this time Dembele was the one to put a nail in our coffin. 

Premier League

4th place and that means no trophy for Hammers this year. We had a great start this season in every competition, but second half of the year was terrible and i'm surprised that we even qualified for Champions League. Greenwood wasn't playing up to his potential and i will need to find some replacement for him next year. 

Park Ji Sung

I think it was his best season so far. Look at that numbers, 29 assists and 15 goals ! I really can count on him

 

 

It was better performance than last year's, but i'm still not satisfied. We need some trophies next year - otherwise we may not be able to complete the challenge before Kwon retires.

Season 5 update

The team is getting stronger every year and this time i hoped for at least 2 championships(most important carabao cup and league). But in order to do so i needed to make some changes to the squad.

Transfers

Plizzari wasn't doing well so i decided to sell him so i can buy Pickford as his replacement. Greenwood performance was ok, but i needed someone more concistent and Lukaku seemed like a great choice. 23.5 for Pussetto was a great bargain too

Park Ji Sung

Another great season from this lad - i needed to rotate him, a bit more because of his fitness level, but he stil proved himself to be one of the best in my squad.

We were stopped again by Everton. They are definitely one of the teams that we hate to play against. 

Carabao Cup

Unlucky again. I think that's a 5th consecutive defeat in penalty shootout in this challange. Kwon needs to stop shooting those - that's for sure.

Champions League

Extremely unlucky again. We were better in both games against City, but we lost on away goals. Fortunately i need only one Champions League trophy to complete this challange, but this season proves that it's not going to be easy.

We were extremely close this season, but ended up with nothing. I think the major factor were the fixtures(22 World Cup) and a lot of injuries as always. I need to sack my physios. Maybe that will work.

Season 6 update

I forgot to do transfer screenshots(not sure how it happened). 

The most important transfer was acquiring Sergej Milinkovic-Savic for free. I'm still surprised that i was able to get him(especially when i concider the fact his contract was expiring and no one made an offer for him for 6 months. I was able to do that after new season kicked in because of small wage budget.

The other players that came in this season were wing-back Rogerio, centreback Christoph Klarer. I'm not sure who i sold but i don't think it was anyone important.

We had great start to the season and as usual terrible second half. At least we had our first important trophy - Carabao Cup ! 

Right now the most important thing will be sending new 5 year contract to Chang-Hoon after the season, because it's probably the only chance for me to finish the challenge.

Time flies by and he is still breaking his records. 31 assists this season, another great score from him

Just read through the last 3 updates. Man, it's going tough for you winning that Cup only in 3 seasons. There's still a lot to cross off the Park list but time's slightly becoming an issue. Hope you manage to strengthen that West Ham team or maybe jump (bigger) ship or this may not end the way we hope it does.

Community Shield will be the biggest problem. I can't afford any mistakes if i manage to get there. 

Season 7 update.

It's getting better

Transfers

I'll try to highlight the most important ones. 

We managed to get what i believe is Ronaldo regen for 13.5 mln euro + 31 year old Lukaku and some % on sale.. Seriously i still don't know why Real accepted that offer. 

Addition to the defence block. 6.81 rating isn't the best, but he is still young so it should get better. 

One of the best defenders in game in my opinion.

Good backup player.

He fits in everywhere

I think that was my best transfer this season. It's a newgen or regen(but not sure exacly who he is). 26 mln euro + 3 star potential regen. I don't know what that AI is doing sometimes. 

FA CUP

Tottenham was the team that we struggled against this year and match in FA Cup wasn't different although we were better most of the game. 

Carabao Cup

And we have our 2nd Carabao Cup ! One more to go !

Champions League 

We were great in a group stage, great against Barcelona, but first match against Real cost us final. Although we were really close. Better luck next year. 

Premier League 

It finally klicked  There was a point in a season that i was starting to hope for a win in all competitions, but our second half of the season wasn't good enough as always. But still i'm very satisfied with League and Carabao Cup.

Park Ji Sung

Not the best season, but still a decent score for a veteran.
