Career 1759 has a go at the Fabled Number 10 Shirt Challenge

I’ve decided to try one of the many great challenges on here. I’ve chosen this one below.

I usually just take over a lower league team and work my way up the leagues so this will be a nice change.

Lets get started!

Team: Juventus

Season 1

Player: Jeff Hendrick

The best option I had available I would say for this one. Other contenders were Conor Hourihane and Alan Browne but the decision was easy to go with Jeff. 

Transfers

Firmino came in as a key player in midfield. Herrera came in as a rotation option in midfield with Gnagnon a back up centre back.

Sold a few players that just aren’t in my plans.

Season Summary

Our new number 10 gets the campaign underway with the first goal of the season after just 8 minutes. He got an assist too. 

League was won and we were water tight at the back but we would’ve liked a few more goals at the other end.

Both domestic cups won although we needed to keep our nerve in the Italian cup final shootout after a faily even game. 

Hat trick for Hendrick in this 4-2 win over SLB in the first knockout round.

We managed to beat PSG 1-0 in the semi final first leg but we lost Hendrick to an injury that would keep him out for the rest of the season. Must be a bug as it’s not Meli who’s injured but Hendrick and don’t even know who Meli is. 

We forgot to bring our shooting boots in the second leg and Mbappe was clinical; scoring a brace to end our hopes of winning the champions league.

Ronaldo got a nice hat trick in the last match of the season to show everybody he is still the main man.

Great start. Considering first seasons are tricky and you've started with the weakest of the Fabled options you should be pleased.

Thanks, I’m into season 3 now so I’ll probably put season 2 up tomorrow. I’ve got a good set up where most of the goals come through the number 10 either by goals or assists but it doesn’t produce quite enough goals for my liking. Will try to tweak it a bit but I may just keep same setup for the rest of this.

Yeah not bad and I quite like Hendrick. Think he would be a good choice of player for a newly promoted team to the top flight.

Season 2

Player: Corentin Tolisso

I forgot to take ss at start of season but this is him at end of November. I got him as a straight swap for Higuain who was just back from his loan to Milan. 

Not a very original choice of player but I have used him in another save and I really like him so I had to pick him. 

Transfers

Kovacic came him as a midfielder and back up to Tolisso in the No.10 role. Thauvin in to challenge for inside forward position and Zivkovic as squad player. Ake in to challenge for CD position and Pellegrini in as back up wingback. Lukuc and Castagne in as squad players.

Good few players going out; mostly players who weren’t in my plans but Emre Can got unsettled at the club and I couldn’t improve that so I thought I’d just cut my loses and get rid for decent money. Got 25.5m for Hendrick.

Season Summary

League won easily but struggled for goals as I think we lacked a bit of creativity in the final third which is something I’ll be looking to improve for next season. 

Chamepions League won in a comfortable final but Tolisso got injured in early May for a month so he missed the game.

Domestic clean up too but struggled at times to dominate teams. Tolisso got 2 assists in Super Cup Final but he was injured for the Italian Cup Final.

Tolisso was top of goals and assists in the league but not great totals.

Tolisso’s Season

Not as good as I’d hoped but I feel as if my offensive players are a little bit lacking in creativity so that’s the area which I’ll be looking to improve for next season.

Awards

French player of the year for Tolisso but it was mainly for his time before arriving at Juventus.

Awards for him and me as manager.

Team of the year in Serie A too.

Interesting choice. How come you opted for him as your player?

Just seen Titjes’s attempt from last year and noticed I’ve used same two players as him so far. Don’t worry though I’ve used a different player for season 3 and I’ve finished it so I’ll put that up either tonight or tomorrow.

I’m using ss in my system and he’s not an ss but I had him in an other save where I bought him to play in midfield but with injuries I had to use him as ss and he was great so that’s why I picked him.

Season 3

Player: Marco Firenze

Not the best of player but there were surprisingly poor options available as most of the good Italian 10’s in my save had green at striker position so I can’t use them. There were a few better than this guy but I just didn’t fancy them and I quite like this guys name so I’ve went with him. Only cost 5m. It’s Italy again next year so I’ll go with someone better then. 

Transfers

Lemar came and I used Tolisso as part exchange. I re-signed Orsolini too add more creativity from the bench when needed. New centre backs in Zouma and MancinI and Mandragora in for the midfield.

Got rid of a few players. Thauvin just lacked a bit of creativity for you me and Zivkovic just wasn’t going to get enough minutes on the pitch.

Season Summary

Domestic cleanup with Firenze getting a goal in the Italian Cup final. He got a good few goals in the league in the end but he had a poor spell in the midle of the season but he picked up once the league was wrapped up. I think maybe his hidden attributes are a bit poor and the pressure of the title run got to him.

Our No.10 was injured for the Champions League final which I think helped make it an easier game tbh. 

Top of the goal scoring charts in league but not chipped in a with quite enough assists.

Firenze’s Season

Not the best of seasons considering the team is now rather good but our main man just isn’t quite good enough at this level.

Cheers, options a bit underwhelming tbh as most were green for striker. There was a better guy than him but I thought I could use him for the next season as my team improves.

Season 4

Player: Simone Verdi

A more promising looking player than my last Italian. Hopefully he’ll perform a bit better.

Transfers

Gagliardini came in as a first team midfielder. Dalot was bought as a back up wing back to replace Castagne who wanted more game time. Molumby was bought as a squad player and a lot of young players left.

Season Summary

League was won with just the solitary defeat. We managed to score a few more this season too.

Both domestic cups won with Verdi getting a hat trick in Italian Cup Final.

Champions League won comfortably with Verdi getting 2 goals and 2 assists. Their line up was ridiculous as they played 3 up front and 2 of them were red for the position and they had a defender playing who was injured.

Verdi top of the goals and assists in the league. 

Verdi’s Season

Some good increases in attributes for Verdi and by far the best performance so far. He didn’t really get injured at all apart from pre season so played a few more games but even accounting for that he still easily outperformed everyone so far.

Yeah much better. I’ve got the player for next season but that’s as far as I’ve got. I had to settle for my 3rd choice though as the other two I couldn’t get.

Season 5

Player: Joaquin Correa

Transfers

Pellegrini in as first team centre midfielder. Onana in as new No.1 Goalkeeper and our new No.10. Sad to see Orsolini leave but he is too good to not be star of a team.

Season Summary

Won league comfortable enough but I went with a small squad and suffered a few defeats and draws. Lost Dybala and Lemar for 2 months each and our No.10 also had a month on the sidelines.

Dybala proves he’s the man in the champions league final.

Won league comfortably.

We won the champions league in extra time against City. It was bit of a hammering really but ball just wouldn’t go in until substitute Kovacic scored in extra time.

Confortable league campaign. Drew with Fiorentina in early October and lost to Milan at end of October then won every game in all competitions after. Only conceded 5 goals at home in the league.

A one sided Champions League final until the last ten minutes when they threw everything at it and nearly forced extra time.

Lo Celso’s Season

Not a bad season for our man but was expecting a bit more. I struggled to score a lot of goals in the champions league games this year which didn’t help.
