Time to switch things up

You may have noticed my stupid error above, so time to restart this whole thing. However, I'm going to use this opportunity to start a multi challenge:

1. The Number 10 challenge.

2. Double trouble challenge.

3. Double trouble assists challenge.

4. Strikerless One Season Challenge (1st season).

I know the double trouble challenges are unlikely to be done but might as well give it a go!

But who are my valiant warriors who are ready to partake in this effort? My two wingers (double trouble x2) are:

Two guys who are young, have lots of potential but are just experienced enough to help out a guy who has only played in Scotland and the lower leagues of England...

This is going to be a slog and a half, I can't wait!

Season 1

Transfers

I've been extremely busy trying to freshen up the squad and bring in young talent. Brought in Unai Simon to be my #1 keeper but he struggles, forcing me to spend big money on Donnaruma. Also, I don't use many central midfielders, so brought in one big signing (Milinkovic-Savic) and let most go, until I needed cover when ravaged with injury.

Domestic Competitions

Won the league with ease. Infuriating to lose 2 of my last 3 games, preventing my unbeaten record. Especially when both games were won my last minute goals (89' and 90+3').Struggled in the first 15, changed tactics and blew them away 👊Once again pretty comfortable, at least until João Cancelo decided to use "Violent Behaviour" with 10 minutes to go.

Champions League

Very inconsistent performances in the group stages, a 6-5 win against Galatasary putting me through on Matchday 6.

I easily dispatched of Monaco in the last 16, winning 6-1 on aggregate, before facing English giants Liverpool.The first leg was one of the most frustrating games I've ever played. 1-0 down and getting dominated after fifteen minutes, I changed tactics and dominated from that moment on. Only for Alberto Moreno to score from the halfway line, and two 30 yard strikes from Xherdan Shaqiri. However, I knew I had their number, starting the second leg with the tactics I'd implemented after my poor start...That victory tasted very sweet. In the semi's I faced Lyon, losing 1-0 in France, getting completely outplayed in the process. However, I'm always confident when we are at the Allianz Stadium, where Jadon Sancho was on inspired form for the second leg.So into the final I go, ready to face Valencia. Can I do what I couldn't do in the four seasons of my initial save and win the Champions League?We won! Despite Graham Carey's best efforts (match rating of 5), we managed to win the biggest competition of them all! 

My Players

Graham had an okay season, although wasn't close to matching Judge's tally. However, he missed such a large chunk of the season and I can't help but think he would've beaten that mark if it wasn't for his fractured ribs. Goals + assists = 36.Another injury-hit season but for Cengiz Under. Not a bad start, was completely overshadowed by Bernardeschi who played on the same side as him and finished as our top scorer. Goals + assists = 22.

This guy was on fire all season. Only missed 3 weeks through injury and came second in the Serie A player of the year chart to the aforementioned Bernardeschi. His hat-trick against OL being one of the most important parts of our season. Can't wait to see him meet his full potential. Goals + assists = 34.Promising start for my manager, lots to improve in the coming seasons.

Strikerless challenge

Sancho: 23+11=34

Carey: 19+17=36

Under: 11+11=22

GD: 59

Points: 90

Total: 59+90+34+36+22=241. Disappointing and not even close to my Celtic record, but expected due to injury issues.

Double trouble

Just started season 2 with a old number ten returning (he loves haircuts), all 3 have started on absolute flames, although my 10 is out for a month after 2 league games, missed Euro Super Cup too with a head injury...

Season 2

Time to sign my first French number 10. After my disappointing first season, I decided to go all out with this purchase, absolutely blowing away my transfer record in order to bring home a man who has had haircuts than I have had clean sheets...

Transfers

Didn't need to make many signings through the season as I'm very happy with my squad and it's very youthful. Have agreed to sign Harry Wilson permanently after he's impressed during his loan spell. Could've bought more after being offered this in November

Domestic Competitions

Another league winning season that was tainted by late losses, both 3-2 defeats within the last 4 Serie A fixtures. A simple win for us in the Super Cup.

Goals! Goals! Goals! (The "Manicone" bit is an error, that goal was scored by Jadon Sancho, who scored a hat-trick)

European/Continental Competitions

Group stage went much easier than expected, with the team just absolutely blowing teams away. In the round of 16, I faced Bayer Leverkusen, who I expected to beat.And paid for my complacency. The squad was struggling with fatigue after the amount of games we'd played, meaning a started a much rotated side in the 2nd leg, but that was a massive opportunity wasted.

The Club World Cup on the other hand...

After easily beating Jeonbuk 4-0 in the semis, I faced NYCFC in the final. Imagine my surprise when it's 6-0 at half time! Amazing performance, especially with Pogba scoring 5 and assisting 2!

And now their stats:Pogba was unbelievable. 70 goals contributed to and he missed nearly 3 months of the season. Unbelievable Jeff!

Cengiz really stepped his game up this season, although it helped that he only missed 1 month through injury. Sancho is such a good all-rounder, contributed heavily to both goals and assists. Outstanding.

All 3 were deservedly contenders for Serie A player of the year. 

Double Trouble

I believe it is possible. I'm currently aiming for 100 with Thauvin.

Season 3

After Paul Pogba absolutely blew away my previous records, it's time to find his replacement, and my first Italian "Number 10". And this man is...

Transfers

I forgot to take a screenshot, but I didn't make as many transfers this season. I bought Federico Chiesa as my number 10 and agreed a permanent deal for Harry Wilson. I also signed loans for squad depth and made a couple of young signings with lots of future potential.  No-one wanted Pogba so I demoted him.

Domestic Competitions

League

My highest points tally to date, but it felt like a very poor season, the four losses were in a spell of poor form, including a 5-2 loss to Inter. However, once De Ligt returned from injury, we went unbeaten for the final four months of the season.

Super Cup

During the poor spell of form, I dragged my way to a penalty shootout victory in the Super Cup against Inter.

Italian Cup

The game before my shootout Super Cup win was another shootout, this time a first round victory against Lazio.

The final was a one-sided affair, unfortunately Chiesa missed it through injury.

Champions League

Once again I flew through the group stage, losing only once in a "Group of Death" containing Real Madrid, Lyon and Celtic. Madrid also went through ahead of Celtic on goal difference, our loss to them helping them in a massive way.

A poor first leg but I'll always back myself at the Allianz Stadium.One of the most entertaining ties I've ever been a part of.Absolute annihilation. "Ryan Sessegnon Lyden" is actually Jadon Sancho, don't understand this issue with names.

 

The Champions League returns to Turin for the second time in 3 years! David Alaba Pieri is Jadon Sancho, once again the game is showing name issues.

Not as good as I would've liked but a solid season. Seemed to hit form before injury ended his league season early. Contributing to more than 1 goal a game is nothing to be ashamed of though.Another player who did well but still failed to meet their full potential. Just like Chiesa, I can't help but wonder if those injuries disrupted his season, especially when compared to injury-free Jadon Sancho...He is an absolute wizard. He somehow just seems to get better and better. Incredible from the youngster.

Double Trouble

Season 4

Once again I'm flying through the challenge, and aiming to finish another season by morning, making the most of my day off work. It's time for Italian #2, my choice being Roberto Gagliardini.

Transfers 

My transfer policy has became a youth talent machine, whilst looking for Bosman bargains which I can sell on for profit (see Onana above). Zaha looks like a Yaya Toure regen and most others are just cover, with Gigliardini being my main signing. Just like Pogba last year, no-one wanted Chiesa so I demoted him, before selling them both for cut-price deals in order to get them off the books in the January.

Domestic Competitions

Serie A

Once again I won the league at a canter, with just 10 points dropped, all to teams in the top 6. I also broke my record for wins in a row (18) and games without defeat (60). 

Super Cup

Such a one-sided game, with Gigliardini scoring a brace against his former side, who'd taken the lead after just ten minutes.

Italian Cup

Comfortable against Lecce, even with my number 10 missing a penalty (something that occured 6 times this season). I continue to be Inter's nemesis in cup competitions, before a narrow aggregate win over Milan. Donnaruma obviously forgot who he played for, making 2 glaring errors in the 2nd leg.

We fell ahead early on when our defence went walkabouts but came back strong to get a comfortable win.

Continental and World Competitions

Euro Super Cup

A game where the scoreline made the game look tighter than it was, Gagliardini winning the trophy for us in his debut.

Champions League

Easily progressing through the group before getting through to the final in a very entertaining manner. 41 goals in the 6 knockout ties before the final. Can't believe I only scored 3 in the Real Madrid first leg. 8 clear cut chances!

After 58 goals in my previous 12 Champions League ties (4.83pg), of course the final would end 1-0. Jadon Sancho proving himself to be the man for the big occasion.

Club World Cup

Okayama put up a good fight, managing to take us to extra time, our quality and fitness showed in the extra half an hour and we ran out 2-0 winners in our semi-final.A much simpler win, even with Gigliardini missing another penalty. A far cry from my 8-2 victory over NYCFC in my second season, but a win is a win and a trophy is a trophy. 

International? 

The strikerless rondo is going on a world tour! This could be useful if I decide to start a 1kc once the 7 years of "Number 10" is over. We qualified for the World Cup with ease. Only other fixtures we played were 2 friendlies. For those I made massive changes to the squad in order to try young players, a mistake which led to a 1-0 win over Malta but an embarrassing draw with Jordan.

WOW. What a season for Gigliardini, smashing my record for goals and assists in a single season. So close to the 100 mark! You know a player has had a good year when he is able to score 1 less goal than in his last 3 seasons combined, whilst still getting his second highest assist score.Most consistent player I've ever used. Absolutely amazing player who steps up for the big occasion. Fun fact, out of the three key players, top scorer Gigliardini was the only one not to score a hat-trick.

Double Trouble

Assists: 116+21+23= 160.

Season 5

I've reached the point where I failed last time, accidentally picking an Italian rather than the specified Argentine. No chance of that mistake on this save, with me buying Pavon, before changing my mind and opting for Giovani Lo Celso.

Transfers 

After taking Pogba and Chiesa, PSG have kept up their pursuit of my number "10"s by taking Gigliardini off my hands. Zagadou and Donnaruma have been my most inconsistent players, so Ederson replaces Donnaruma (part/ex) and Laporte comes in, with Zagadou becoming backup. Pavon came and went after I changed my mind, costing me £3m in the process. Sold players who were surplus to requirements or were bought on bosmans.

International

Starting this season off with highlights of the World Cup in Qatar, where Italy and I planned to bring home our fifth world cup.

Early rounds were a formality, with Uruguay in the quarters being our toughest test. 

I reached the Semi Finals where I would face World Ranked #1, Spain. After 15 minutes I was 2-0 up, with one foot in the final. By half time, it was 2-2. Then once again I started the half strongly, regaining my 2 goal lead and making it 4-2 with 30 minutes to go. However, once again Spain put a spanner in the works, scoring 3 meaning that we entered the final minute of the game behind. 90+4, step up substitute Andrea Belotti. 5-5! Extra time! 1 minute info extra time and Belotti makes it 6-5, then for the third time this game we take a two goal lead through Bernardeschi. Surely Spain couldn't come back again could they?

They could not! So onto the final where we faced England. It was me against my home country, a team which contained Juventus players Jadon Sancho and Ryan Sessegnon. Could we beat them or would football go home?

The fairytale was over as we came second, wasting so many good opportunities over the 90 minutes. Gutted but a great achievement for my first major tournament.

On a positive note, we've since qualified for the Nation's League finals, winning our group containing Croatia and Sweden, winning 2 and drawing 2. The result of which will be uploaded with the next update. 

Domestic Competitions

They should just give us the league at the start of the year to save them time. Another scudetto! 

As usual I win the Super Cup, this time it's a comfortable win over Roma.

Champions League

No Club World Cup this year due to the actual world cup happening in December. Disappointed because it's a great opportunity to score some extra goals, but highly motivated to ensure I'm there again next season. First though, here's the Euro Super Cup...

Group stage was another easy one, 6 wins from 6. Deja vu in the knockout round, losing at Anfield despite being the better team, them blowing them away on our return to Turin.Revenge is ours! The only team to have knocked us out of the Champions League were beaten in both legs. Bye Bayer!A pretty comfortable away win in the first leg, before they shocked us in the second. Lucky to progress, winning 6-5 on aggregate. But who would we face in the final?

For the fourth time in five years, we are the Kings of Europe! Real Madrid, we're coming for your record!

What a disappointing season. He never seemed to get going, taking 4 games to score his first goal and then being plagued with injury and fitness issues throughout the season. 47 goals and assists isn't appalling but it's no where near what I hoped for. Cengiz didn't quite reach the heights of last year but he's starting to show some real consistency, especially in front of goal. This kid continues to blow my mind, he's such an integral part of my team. Great year for him, especially with him winning the world cup and being included in the dream team.

I've realised that my formation really suits a typical central midfielders rather than a creative-winger type. Pogba, Gigliardini and my next guy have thrived.

Season 6

We are getting closer to the finish of the Juventus challenge with just one more season to go after this one. However, this save will go on, with double trouble still going and another idea in the works... First though, the nation's League update I promised.

International

A narrow win sends us through to our second consecutive final with Italy, can we go one better than during the World Cup?Another International final, other defeat. Spain get revenge for being on the losing side in that incredible World Cup semi final. BREAKING! Bradfield has resigned from his job as Italy manager! When it came towards the first round of international fixtures, I realised how little I enjoyed it. Didn't want to continue if I couldn't do the job justice. Might look to go back into international management in a couple of seasons but it's time for a little break.

Transfers

I started to noticed a pattern developing between my more successful number "10"s and the disappointing ones. This influenced my decision to bring in this guy (Not Kieran Tierney).

In comes my number 10 and a new left back as Alaba was 31 and demanding crazy wages. Surprise, surprise, PSG sign Lo Celso, meaning they now have Pogba, Gigliardini, Lo Celso and Chiesa. A guy I loaned out won the golden boot in the Premier League, I'm 90% certain he's a Rooney regen.

First unbeaten season, scoring the most goals I've scored in a season whilst conceding the joint least. Such an easy year for us in the Serie A. Not as easy to beat Napoli in the Super Cup. It was quite an even game, Bernardeschi winning it for us late on.

A simple route to the final, only the second leg against Torino was a relatively close game.

Roma got blown away. If only their FM team were as good as their Twitter admin...

Continental and International competitions

The closest I've been to losing a final with Juventus and it would've been no less than what I deserved. Conceding 5 clear cut chances? Not good enough.

Easy for me but shocked to watch Real Madrid exit. Obviously that 7-0 opening defeat had a lasting impact... 

A very nice draw for us throughout the tournament, happily taking the scalp of two Italian teams in Torino and Milan. Another final...

...another win! Took an early 3-0 lead before nearly blowing it in the second half. Ntcham was superb. 

Our 100% Club World Cup record continues. We beat Sydney FC 4-2 in the semis before facing the Red Bulls in the final, our second Club World Cup Final against a New York side (8-2 win Vs NYCFC). The Red Bulls were clinical but didn't have enough quality despite putting up a fantastic fight.

Late start due to injury but then really pushed on. Deadly in front of goal, just didn't get enough assists compared to Gigliardini. Incredible season from the Frenchman. Sancho had been so fortunate when it came to injuries (or lack of them), so it was hitting to see such a huge chunk of his season taken away. A very respectable score when you consider his injury. 

Really stepped up when Sancho got injured. Plain ruthless. What a guy.

Good return for Ntcham! I’m the same with international management. I don’t mind the main tournaments but I hate it during the season when you’re into your clubs season.
